[Soom MD/March] Shonki & Appini Bestia Animo!

NOnonononon! I wanted baby foxes!!!!! Baby foxes to match Breccia. Gaugh Oh well, first sight totally underwhelmed. Totally no like the black cat; it's kinda creepy in a shiny way. I suppose with the right blushing the white one could be turned into a fox but I jut keep thinking of Hati and Skoll when I look at them. Everything is so similar except Hati and Skoll had the cutest ears. The faces never struck me as anything special so I was holding out hoping for baby fox feet and paws like Breccia's. Bad side: I really wanted more paws for the pack. Good news: I'm saving a ton of money because this is a no sale for me and I adore cats.

Now my question is: does this mean that the next MD is going to be an adult cat? If it's a boy cat we may need to toss money at Soom. Or do folks think that they're just not following their pattern from last year with matching tinies to adults?

 

I think the black resin has a lot of potential, which is why I probably will get Shonki. The shiny surface and lack of face-up does make poor Shonki look quite cheap, but with some spray matting with MSC, blushing, and a proper face-up, I think Shonki would be a real cutie. I also think Soom should've switched the outfits, blue on Appini and red on Shonki (red goes *so* nicely with black).

And what is with those purple eyes????

And what would MSC do to it? Would that help it be less shiny?

Yes it will. ^_^ I've done it with many of my older pullip dolls (that were always very shiny and unattractive) as well with one of my bjds that for some reason, seemed a little shiny when she arrived. You should do a very light and even coat if possible (it helps to warm the MSC some by having it sit in some warm water for a bit), since thick layers of MSC will lighten the look to any resin/blushing.

 

Oh see I actually like those purple eyes. Are they identical to Cass'? (which I already have but wish I had more than one pair of!)
I think the eyes were the only thing Soom got right here when deciding how to paint up/clothe Shonki!!

 

I am disappointed. I think the face especialy the mouth reminds me alot of LTF Piki (or pukipuki for that matter, and the lack of jointing on the legs is a turnoff.
I already have one KITTY girl and i told myself there would be no more.... now if only they were foxes after all.

 

agreed, the little black kitty had so much potential that they did not use at all! Im glad i don't have to worry about getting these guys.

 

Something I'd like now is to see a picture of Shonki blank. No paint or anything, kinda how they did with Afi. I mean the doll is pretty much blank anyways, but I'd like that small layer of white gone.

i may still end up with an appini, shes cute, i would want just her and the ears tho.

EDIT: I think they spent too much energy on Idealian, and these little guys fell on the wayside, its unfortunate.

 

I'm a bit miffed about the cat fact too, but everything, everything else is exactly what I wanted and was hoping for. Appini's face has the most adorable pout, her sleeping head is equally cute, I love the paws (they have that nifty lack of an ankle joint, something I liked about the hooves on Afi and Ai) and the ears! Any notion of me being upset over missing Hati and Skoll has just been erased!

I'm not getting the black resin, but I doubt it's nature is any different than any other colored resin. It's just much darker than anything else we've seen from SOOM.

I'm bringing Appini home. I'm excited with them, kittens or fox pups.

At this point, it looks like hardly ANYONE is going to buy him/her.. so it would be in their best interests I think!

LOL, I was considering it. I really like it, and I think a good chunk of people would nab it in splits.

 

Yeah, it would definitely increase sales a bit because it shows the doll can be good, the default faceup is just making everything look worse.

I wouldn't waste my money on the fullset faceup/blushing, anyone can do what they did regardless of skill. It's too bad, I'm sure Shonki could have been a pretty fullset if Soom put some more work into it.

I think Soom changed Shonki a bit. In the teaser it's ears are natural, not pink and they didn't have that layer of white eyeliner on the lid. Didn't it look like it's nose was painted as well? Oh and it's wig was black not white. The paws look lighter too but that could just be me. I wonder what brought on the changes?

 

Totally bummed, I was going to get them had they been foxies, sorry all cats are cute but just aren't my thing. Maybe next time Soom *takes wallet back*

 

I was excited because i saw the black one and said...it better be a freaking cat...but now that i see them, I really dont like the face/nose scupt...it makes me think too too much of a persian >_< and i hate those cats XD

 

I think you're right, with a good faceup/blushing Shonki could be
really great....but I hope you're wrong!! LOL Because i don't want to see
them in owner pics and "whyyyy didn't I get her???" I guess I just don't
have the vision in my current un-health to see past Sooms own mistakes.

Yes they are definitely Cass' eyes. It's funny but I think they failed by putting
them with Shonki...purple, black, blue, white wig....(yes the white is better
than the previous black wig) honestly they should have given them some good
cat eyes. But I guess because the "human" doll has the OE they stuck with their
typical pupil-less glitter eyes. Yes I know you love sparkly eyes

I would LOVE to see someone mockup of a good faceup/blushing for Shonki
it's so hard to get past the shiny and awful makeup. Not that I need
another Soom tiny.....

 

I agree the white wig is the better choice but paired with the white faceup it makes it seem a little too much white for my tastes :] The eyes are probably the best thing about Shonki's options. I love them, so pretty and creative.

 

Having just spent a few hours yesterday covering some hooves in gold leaf I can't help but think that Shonki would look adorable with some gold detailing.

 

I was sad to find out that they were kitty babies. I was hoping they were fox babies to go with my DZ SD Mo coming :[

But I think if I just don't use the kitty tail for her she would work as a little fox, there really isn't THAT much of a difference :3
And she is quite adorable
