[Soom MD/November] Pyrol and Minette - The Magic Horn

Oct 28, 2010

    1. If they made a "Remaining Legend" Little Gem centaur I would die of happiness. (But only if I could afford it! Lol!)

I've managed to scrape up what I believe will be enough for a first layaway payment on Pyrol. I hope they release them tonight!

    2. I'm guessing they'll release them in about 9hrs! Just guessing so don't kill me if I'm wrong xD

    3. Exciting! I'm itching to see more pictures of these two, Minette especially : )

    4. I definitely prefer Minette too, but I think they've painted them both up way too simply for my liking.
But hey, saves me the blushing money!
For once I almost hope the faceup is really simple because I like they expression they've given, so it would be easy to get that then ask someone to touch it up.

I wonder if someone would be happy almost blushing the entire body?
      Or maybe dying it?
With an airbrush it could be painted a different colour perhaps?
I'd love for the horsey part to be one insane colour then blend into the whiteskin human part!

    5. Midnitestar, blushing or dyeing the entire body sounds like an awesome idea :D I'm sure you could find someone only too happy to do it. I was tempted to go for a my little pony-esque theme because my friend is getting a pukifee this christmas and having her be all punky :3 I'd love to have minette match up a bit with her!

I'll just be ordering Minette blank and working on her face myself!

    6. The upkeep on a painted doll is murder...my Kkotmu is painted as a buckskin, and the paint chips/scratches easily when I move/pose her, especially around the joints, even with sueding. I find I am reluctant to handle her because of it. Dying might yield better results.

    7. Aww, I'm sorry to hear that Clochette. She sounds gorgeous though!

I definately agree with the idea of dyeing if it's going to be a whole body job.

    8. Well, I have a bunch of Soom dolls and they all but one have default blushing. Not once have I had to worry about chipping.
I had heard so many horror stories but, no one has chipped yet! (I have Glot, Cuprit, Eliv, Bygg, Yrie, Ai, Afi, Grit and Nenad fully blushed)
So I'm really not so worried about that.

But you're right, perhaps dying the horse part and then using blushing to blend to the human part might yield better results.
The trick is finding an artist you like who can do everything you want!
There are some artists I like who don't do body blushing, others who I'm not sure do dying.. I really don't know!
And sending the doll all over the place might be kind of insane xD

My Little Pony is definitely what I'm thinking here xDDD
I am an 80s baby, oh yes I am! xD

    9. Soomed, most definitely.
Although, I'd like to see where they sit porportion wise, the height image was all the kept me from ordering Epidos.

Oh, Soom, how much overtime will you make me work?

    10. Awww! Midnitestar, you have so many! I've always told myself I would never be interested in Soom. Sure the dolls were adorable, but apart from Yrie, Bygg and Beyla no one ever caught my eye. I contemplated buying a Bygg or Beyla for a while but then dismissed the idea. So I adamantly went on thinking "Don't worry Enky, you'll never get soomed as long as they don't bring out anything horsey in mini or msd size, your wallet is safe.".....Then Minette shows up. X3

Sure sending your little 'taur all over tha place might be completely insane, but the results might be more than worth it! I'm far too chicken to send my dolls anywhere, so they have to put up with me painting them (discounting one of my girls as she has a faceup by DaggerChan that I will NEVER EVER wipe XD).

Also, 80's babies ftw! I still have a few of my 1st gen ponies at home stored away safely so I can look at them every so often and be all nostalgic.

    11. Funny that others are thinking of similar ideas! I am thinking about making mine - providing I can afford one - a Rainbow Brite style pony! A scattering of stars, some multicolor hair and tail... Hard to decide since I love the natural look they gave Pyrol....

    12. RAINBOW BRITE PONY!!!!

Omg I would DIE for a Starlight pony!!! Love rainbow brite so much!!!!

Wow I'm showing my age right now xD

    13. I have butterflies in my tummy XD Everyone's coming up with such neat ideas, and I love that some of us 80's kids are similarly drawing on the popular culture of that time period. Uncanny! Can't wait for more pictures so we can all get a better look at these two little sweethearts.

I do love the natural look on both Pyrol and Minette, but there's something in me screaming at me to grab brightly coloured pastels and paint.

    14. Oh booooy....

      Might be Soomed again.

Normally I go for the boy dolls, but Minette is just too adorable!

    15. I've never dyed a doll, but it would seem that it might be less prone to showing the resin underneath when wear occurs...does the dye soak into the resin, or is it just on top? Even if it just "grabs" better, it may be more resistant to scratching off when you move the legs. Better engineering in the horse parts would also mean less wear on the paint/dye, which would help...Domadolls are adorable, but they're fiddly to pose, leading to more wear on the joints.

I'm excited that the horse parts on these are actually colored resin...my plan is to make a palomino to go with my buckskin. The tan boy will suit that purpose nicely :) MLP would be awesome, too, as would Starlight. I'd love to see both of those.

    16. I'm so glad they made one of them tan so I won't have to worry about color rubbing off on the joints. I do still plan on blushing my Pyrol, but I won't add any color or details to the joints themselves. The color I have in mind is a bit yellower than the tan resin, but keeping the joints the original color won't bother me. (Whereas if they only had a white option, I would probably dye it since dye seems to be a little more permanent than other coloring methods.)

I am so ready for these little ones to be realeased!! I hope they go up before I go to bed or I might have trouble sleeping. ;)

    17. I am still torn between these two. One minute I settle on Minette so I can dye her centaur parts some rad color, but then I go back to Pyrol and his grumpy face.

C'mon Soom. You're drivin' me nuts. Please release more pictures soon.

    18. I guess I want the lighter of the 2 so I can make one a lepoard Appaloosa centaur. But still dreading the price tag... owie, owie,OWIE!!!
