Soom [MD/Sep] Epidos - Flame Sword discussion.

Aug 30, 2010

    1. I'm definitely going to get it...
not the human parts anyway, as I don't feel I really need another male while I almost tend to neglect my killian... but I'll get the human outfit for the killian, yes. so, I'll have two warriors of sort, with the same outfit style :)

the horse body is just perfect... I love the mane sculpted, and it's so nice to have an hair tail!!

    2. i was looking at the torso pictures and my heliot torso, and i was wondering if i could swap my heliot upper body on that horse body.. i think yes but im not sure..
and yes.. i also think that 57 cm is the whole height of the centaur version, he won't be more taller than a normal supergem.

    3. Spooky good intuition on the basic centaur. I'm strangely not remotely interested in him in his human form. Maybe because I don't really love it when Soom does hangy bottom lips that smack a lot of Euclase. Though lots of people love that sort of look, it never appealed to me. There's not too much here though! He is pretty-looking doll, I just don't need a human male right now.

    4. Jeeze Marluxia -- lol! -- I barely have time to crawl out of bed and grab some pain pills, and you've already bought him! You're like some kind of sharp-shooter or something!

    5. Yes, I think 57 cm is his height as a centaur from the top of his head to his hooves. So 30 cm is likely the length of the horse body from chest to rump. He seems to have lost height in the horse legs. On the human Super Gem the legs (measured from the inseam at around 33 cm) are a little longer than the torso and head combined (as measured from crotch to the top of the head). You can see the horse's legs seem only as long as the measurement from the top of the head to the "waist."

    6. Ahh, good, another Soom that won't call out to me. His horse-human proportions are all wrong. What is he, a pony-centaur? His human body and head are way too big. And his face is nice, but doens't make me drool, like Soom sculpts usually do. Nope, passing up on this one without even an elevated heartbeat. Souldoll's Chiron is much, much more interesting for a centaur.

    7. I think the 57cm is more likely to be the length from chest to tail, with the 30cm being the height of the horse parts (hooves to waist), and the other 35cm being made up of the human torso, leaving him at the same 65cm tall as a human Super Gem. The length of the body seems like it could easily be around 10cm shorter than the human end is tall.

It would help if Soom would post some combined photos of a Super Gem next to this new Centauroid body. I really hope it is 65cm tall and not shorter than regular Super Gems.

    8. Holy crap. He is amazing! What a piece of art. Congrats to everyone who has already bought this beauty!

I am anxiously hoping Soom releases a tiny centaur now. This is the closest I've ever come to being "Soomed". :XD:

    9. There's an easy way to calculate the torso, the length of the arm from shoulder to wrist is the same as the torso from shoulder to crotch (thank you Vitruvian Man! ;)). I do have a Super Gem at home. . . so unless they changed radically since I bought him, it looks to me that Centaur Epidos may be a bit shorter than his human counterpart.

I suppose the reason Soom hasn't posted side-by-side photos is to keep us guessing. ;)

    10. Hes amazing, but in my opinion it would be better to have Chiron's skinny horse body and proportioned legs, then this guys short legs. He looks so top heavy =( But the joint system looks amazing! It must have taken so long to perfect this!

    11. @ Apokripha - ^ this is what i was trying to say, but sharnofshade has explained it a lot better than i did. so no i do not think he will be shorter as a centaur.

    12. The horse part of the body definitely looks undersized in comparison to the human part. We're used to seeing depictions of centaurs with more bulk in the horse part, especially in the rear area, and the attachment being at the hip joint, so the horse body provides the front hip joint and the human stomach region replaces the horse's chest area. (Many have been the comments about the centaur apparently having TWO digestive systems....) His attachment is at what would be the top of the thighs, so he has two hip joints in the front, a human and a horse one below, and looks kind of high-perched there. Plus the horse body slopes down towards the rear, giving a smaller impression.

It probably would be a great match with a smaller/shorter human body, though. Another option for hybridizing!

Do love the option to change tails. That was the only failing the Souldoll centaur had.

    13. HOLY!!! :o

I knew he was going to be cool, but MAN! I WANT HIM! But I don't think I could afford him even with a layaway... Waaah!

I will just wish really hard for SOOM to make a Teenie Gem centaur that's just as amazing (and within my budget!).

    14. Woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

I'm back to being depressed it's a guy now xD

Lots of hope for the tinies though! And the next girl!!!!!!

    15. He makes me sad I can't afford him. *looks around for sellable things*

    16. :o Holy Ghod! Over $2,000 for the full set. :...( I'm going to go flail around on the floor and kick and scream. No way can we afford to toss down over $2,000 for a full set. He is something to see though. I am gabberflasted. :( I love his face!

Ok so if I just go human that's only $900. Is it just too early in the morning for me or does this guy look a lot like Chrom?

    17. Ohh yes,his fullset is so expensive :(
But in any ways theres new thing at Soom site-Centauroid Dolls in their basic section...i hope they will be more affordable....

    18. I just noticed this too...

    19. WAIT.

They added "Centauroid Gem" under the Dolls list in the left side bar. There's no products in it yet, but could it mean that the centaur body is going to be a regularly released item? I sure hope so!

    20. probably, yes, but i think not in white skin, since soom doesn't make basic doll in white skin anymore.
and i wonder if there someone can goto take picture of this guy at the soom shop soon? pliiz :XD:
