1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom [MD/Sep] Epidos - Flame Sword discussion.

Aug 30, 2010

    1. Oh wow, very much worth the wait. The horse parts is constructed beautifully! And that face is amazing o.o I wish I didn't have to miss this one!

    2. Like Tosh said, unless they started it just now for him, then no there is no
layaway charge. I think all the unhappy comments made them think twice
      about it.

He's pretty gorgeous but I'm not feeling any OMG I need him, I guess being
      really really stressed has helped.

    3. OK, I asked this question on Soom's Q&A, but they're probably going to take a while to get back to me and I was wondering if anyone else had asked this and gotten and answer already:

Is Soom going to make centaurs as a permanent fixture on their site soon? I saw the Centauroid Gem under the Doll menu to the left of their screen and got all excited. And are they making centaurs in different sizes? I would die for a teenie gem one. :D

    4. hmmm I wish the horse body was more acurately proportioned.
In my opinion it should be much taller for the length of the body and size of the human torso. It makes me think of a cross between a horse and a fawn body. Going to sit this one out looking forward to seeing real life pics when they start coming in, hopefully I am wrong :)

    5. Oh wow I hadn't even noticed that!!!!!!!! That would be really great if they did
(which seems likely now!) I can't even imagine how much work went into sculpting
him, it did seem like a lot of work for a very short release. Well, that almost cheered
me up for a minute :):(

    6. Exactly what I thought. And since there is only one other company that I know that makes a centaur it would be to Soom's benefit to do it on a more permanent basis. Also, there aren't any small centaurs out there, so that would be a huge selling point if they follow this guy with teenies centaurs and then make it a more permanent option.

Can't wait to see.* Starts saving up for baby centaurs.* ^.^

    7. Actually, Domadoll has been making tiny centaurs for years. ;)

    8. Poke, poke - keep this thread focused on the big guy please.
Take any speculation about future smaller Monthlies to the appropriate size sub-forum.

    9. Edited: Sorry idrisfynn! :sweat

Is anybody else terrified of how to restring this guy?

    10. I just skimmed through the whole thread (DoA wasn't updating for me yesterday for some weird reason!), and it was HILARIOUS! I love that you all were so excited and making such smart guesses and talking about threads on DoA about selling souls for doll money--and generally being so fun and positive. You all make life a lot more enjoyable!

... Particularly when there are so many fabulous dolls and most of us have no space and no money!!! aaaagggh...

I liked the preview of the horsey legs... yes, they do look a bit thin, but lovely, like an Arabian or a thoroughbred... something graceful and fleet. And I couldn't quite see how Soom could get me enticed since I have too many dolls already and want so many more and have no money... BUT-- He is gorgeous!!! I love the face sculpt! I love the ears!!! I love that the tail is hair I love the use of two colors of resin. Soom has the most talented and original design and sculpting team around, and they always are at the top of their game! I wish they'd take more time between their releases because they are ALL so wonderful. It's just scary at how fast they work and just how creative and skilled they are!!!! I would buy ALL their dolls if I could.

Of course, as it is, I am sad because I can't... :(

But I am so happy for people who can buy this wonderful guy! I will love you for it because I must live vicariously through you all!!! I will love seeing photos and hearing all about it. And maybe sometime in the future I will have enough money (if not room) for more gorgeous Soom dolls!

I think his proportions are OK. Sure-- having a body of a drafthorse would be cool, but impractical in resin and in weight and in moving around and everything. Many classical centaurs have had very small horse bodies (check out the original Greek statues!). Oh--and if he's a unicorn--many myths had unicorns with tiny bodies, too-- goat bodies, even. He really is amazing. Soom never disappoint--even if I can't afford them all the time (wah!!!!).

Of course, there is always the ordering period to live through and the thought of layaway... There is time to reconsider and get money and maybe ebay a mess of stuff I don't need to make space...! *_*

Congrats to those bringing home this guy!!! Wow. And congrats to Soom for keeping things exciting! :)

    11. OK, this is seriously BAD. I'm really starting to want him. His face imo
is the best MD male sculpt I've seen in a while, a cross between Chalco
and Bix nose-wise. Without the extras and no human version his price
      isn't too bad....unless I misunderstand something... XD

      edit: And that MOUTH!!!!!!

    12. Awww you are so sweet ^_____^ We will make sure to post Lots of pictures of him! I know that feeling, even if i cant get the doll it always feels amazing to see all the box openings and live through those moments too ^^

    13. Not really
      Bix was NS
      Io was available in NS
      Chrom as NS
      Sphaler was available in NS

However I really really wish Soom offers BW human. I cannot see the duo color tone doll working for me. I want him as BW........

Please Soom - reconsider offering human form in BW

    14. I wasn't sure whether to hope I'd like his face, or hate it! But I really do like it (a lot) so I think I'm going to have to try to find a way to get him. I'm a little sad I can't get his upper body in white skin too - I have several concepts I'd like to try out for which white skin would be pretty handy - but having the horse parts in white is more important I think so that's okay. I even like his outfit! (Oh noes more money...)

While I would definitely like a buff Clydesdale look for a centaur too (I love Clydesdales, they're so amazing!), I still do like the slim legs. And practically speaking it'll be so much easier to deal with a thinner/smaller/lighter centaur body than a 70-something-cm brick of resin. I wonder if they'll end up making different horse "types" for the other Centauroids perhaps? There could be a speedy skinny one, a heavy warhorse one... and a girl or three! (Yes, I'm stuck on the girl thing.)

    15. Actually, I'm really surprised they didn't offer multiple skin tones. It breaks the "two resin options" trend they've been doing for a long time now. I can easily see people wanting him in NS and CW.

I'm very, very happy you can replace his tail with a fur (or fiber!) one. The resin tail is beautiful, but I can see so much potential in a fur/fiber tail.

I can also see why Soom wouldn't design him like a Clydsdaile. The physics/weight is one issue. The other is...they really don't make buff MDs. Monzo is the only one I can think of who was really beefy. That belongs more in the Idealian realm.

    16. I agree! I was a little put off/confused about the color combination. IMO he would
look beautiful in CW....also while they "show" a picture of him unrobed it's so heavily
photoshopped it doesn't do much to help us see how the human torso attaches....
      hopefully they'll release better pics.
Since I only have my NS Chrom it makes it easier for me to accept the NS body, I don't
need to worry if I wanted to switch him out. lol I'm getting ahead of myself.....

    17. I'm sad he's only offerered in normal skin. I would rather see normal skin paired up with a soft tan-beige color to be honest. And cream white with white would have been amazing. I know me and one another member requested cream white on the Q&A. Hopefully if enough people ask for it they'll offer it? Hey doesn't hurt to ask! XD

I'd love to see more posing from this guy as well. I wonder if he can sit/lay down well or bow down on his front hooves. I absolutely adore when horses do that. Its so princely and this guy is coming off more of a prince than a warrior to me.

    18. That's a great idea, hopefully more will ask Soom...it certainly isn't any
harder to cast in CW...unlike Tan...which I was dreaming and dreading

He really is lovely, I wish that Soom had the option to buy the human head
instead though....I love unicorns but not horns on "people"

    19. If 30 cm is the height of the horse part at the withers. . . that's still a few centimeters shorter that the Super Gem male's inseam. :?

I'm guessing there was a lot of airbrushing around the torso to get it to blend better. Pity the horse part isn't tan. . . pair a blond tail with the wig they have and he'd be a lovely palomino. ;)

    20. I like the NS for his body because I always think of centaurs as being very outdoorsy and tanned... and the different color coat on the horse makes him look convincing as far as the horse part being different from flesh/human. It's too bad he's not offered in WS for those who want the choice... although I guess that will all the various parts, the casting will be busy enough without worrying about making more resin colors...

Different horse-bodies would be cool. I love draughthorses... Friesians, Clydesdales, Percherons... destriers... Of course, lots of nomads were fighting on those little horses-- fast and quick with light or no armor.

I bet if there are tinies they will look like mini-drafthorses (OK... ponies! but sometimes I like to think of some ponies that way!). :D

And I really hope lots of people get Epidos! I want Soom to know that there's a market out there for quadrapeds! (and I want to see all the photos of what you all do with them!!!) :D
