Soom [MD/Sep] Epidos - Flame Sword discussion.

Now this is the centaur I've been waiting for! I thought Souldoll's Chiron was a cool concept that was poorly executed. I like this body sooooo much better!

I already joined a split for the centaur body and outfit. I know for sure I don't want the human body because I don't like the new joints Soom is doing. I'd rather get an older body on the market place later. I'm on the fence about whether or not I want the human head & outfit and maybe the wig as well. I like the human head a lot, but it might be cool to make a hybrid out of one of the older boys. I figure I can always join another split later should I decide to get more of his parts. Heavens knows I already can't afford what I'm getting.

I've always thought Domadoll Jado was cute, but the prospect of a Tiny Soom centaur totally blows my mind! Squee! That would (hopefully will) be so cute!

 

I am totally agree with you. They created the Centauroid Gem category in the standard section, these makes me feel confused about purchase him now or later. I think that they will introduce color variations but no so much body modifications. I love Epidos color combination but I hate his horn crater =_=

 

I don't know for sure, I think they will release a 'mega gem' version of that body, precisely because you can have so much variation on horses, and it would be cool to be able to do a larger body as well. But I don't know that it's going to happen right away. And the Centauroid body line may expand to include cat bodies or dog bodies...who knows what Soom has in store for us?

In the meantime, it's an awesome centaur body!!! ^ ^

I think in the beginning we will probably see similar centaur lower body with minor changes (i.e. a lil fur here and there and cloven hooves), different skintones and different horns (Sard horns, Chalco horns, Amber horns and so on) under the Centauroid Gem section. Maybe they will go on with different lower animal bodies a bit later and introduce them first as MD before making appearance under Centauroid Gem section. I hope once Epidos starts shipping, they'll have some clothings/accessories for the new centauroid bodies (hehe one can always dream )

Hehe, I guess if they are making basic versions of the MD, there is no rule against making basic dolls MD! ^_~

 

Whew. My money is safe. If it was a real horse, I would've scrambled to buy it.

 

i dont think they'll do something with megagem. so far, they only did Monzo and they didn't even put a basic version for sale. maybe because his sales was too low/poor.
and soom stopped to do white skin in basic version so im pretty sure if they do the basic centaur, will be normal skin, always if they don't change idea.
i was hoping for a tan centaur too but i like this normal / cw combo, to me he looks more natural than all white. for the horn is easy to take off and sand down his forehead, as some people did with the heliot.
mine is gonna be painted as a dapple grey horse

 

SOOM is tormenting me again. Another beautiful monthly. I can't quite afford the whole doll, but I'll probably be able to get the head at least. : D His nose is just so pretty~

Not sure I'm going to, I'll probablly wait until the very end of the order period to decide.

 

Oh man. This is the first Soom that I've really WANTED LIKE BURNING.

But I simply cannot afford it right now. T_T Impoverished uni students who are currently doing their full time, unpaid teaching pracs should not be looking at pretty, pretty dolls. My savings are stretched as it is.

 

I think I'll get his human form for sure, but still struggling about getting the unikenta form. It's really hard to decide.

 

It's a very beautiful, but unaffordable sculpt for me. But just to see it! I cannot wait to see arrival posts and gallery shots of this one.

 

You know, Yukari, that's probably the best summation of the situation I've heard so far. I'm like -- does Centauroid Gem mean they'll make more? Should I wait? Will they only be making the torsos and heads? Will they occassionally make a new Centaur body to put these things on? I don't know. And 'horn crater' is the single best expression I've heard for it so far. It bugs me. I don't like it on my baby-dolls either. There's really nothing to do for it but hide it under a wig.

Catw07: I wonder if we're setting ourselves up for a disappointment by assuming that Soom will make Centauroid babies. I remember how this went when Sphaler came out.

 

I was wondering about the height of the centaur form, so I decided to try to shop something up to take a look.



Seems like the human form will be taller?

 

That's what I think, the 57 cm measurement Soom gives is the height of the centaur.

 

xtal: no. i do not think so. i think the 'top of the human head to tip of horse toes' is 65 cm. the 'front of horse parts to back end of horse parts' 57 cm. from 'tip of horse toes in front to part where human begins' is 30 cm.

 

That's what I thought too, but people were discussing whether it referred to the length of the body, with 30cm being the height of the horse body... I think it will be 57cm tall, though.

 

I get the feeling I'm gonna regret it if I don't get the centaur. Though the layaway will set me back quite a bit I can try and raise funds to pay it off lol. I just don't like the idea they could change the body or if not a lot of people buy the centaur they do away with it all together. That category being there isn't a promise from Soom. Unless they say 'yes we are making more" I don't like the idea of taking chances. XD

 

If 30 cm is the height of the horse body a Super Gem could straddle it, feet on the floor, and still have clearance. Why would they give the height of the human but not the centaur? After all, it seems unless stated otherwise, most everyone assumes the SG is 65 cm tall but Soom lists that measurement anyway. Artists have little tricks to figure out measurements and proportions, as long as I have one constant (like the length of the arm) it's possible to calculate things like height.

 

Heh, I was using head size to do the comparison, though, looking at it, I'm wondering if arm length would be a better indicator? I was also trying to align the position of the feet...
