Soom [MD/Sep] Epidos - Flame Sword discussion.

Aug 30, 2010

    1. Oh... Wow.
I'm not one for fantasy dolls, which is why Soom kills me because I love all of their MDs' face molds, but not their fantasy parts.
Hm. Maybe I'll try to get just his human head later on, because I've fallen for his face.

I have a question, how tall is a Super Gem?

    2. The 'human version' image you have is shot from slightly above, whereas the centaur is shot from 'ground level' (you can tell by looking at the feet - you can only see the sides of the hooves, but the tops of the human feet) -I think this might account for the discrepency in size there.

That difference certainly wouldn't be the difference between 65cm and 57cm anyway - your image shows only 1-2cm difference, not 8 ;)

    3. That's another trick, using the head to get size/proportion. :thumbup I was wondering if you had used the head or tried to line up the arms. :)

    4. Well, shooting from the top actually reduces apparent height, so the human version picture will be taller than it appears in the image. I was also erring on the side of caution for the resizing, so I probably made the human version a bit smaller. Adding that up, I guess it's still not enough of a difference between 65cm and 57cm, but I would still say that the centaur looks shorter. Of course, if Soom would be as nice as to just shoot the two of them next to each other, we wouldn't have to be guessing. XD

Oh Soom, hurry up and come back to work. XD

    5. height for the assembled centaur = ( 35 cm human parts ) + ( 30 cm horse parts ) : 65 cm tall.

a Heliot had extra long legs and was slightly taller. this is a 'regular super gem centaur' .

    6. Unless they have him leaning back at the waist and shoulders, which is what it looks like to me. That could cause him to be stretched out in a way which would make him seem taller than he actually is when standing square.

I don't think we're going to be able to judge much based on the photos Soom has up right now. Hopefully they'll post some comparisons for us to make our lives easier XD

    7. Yessss, I need to decide if I want the horsey or the human body, since I do not want him to end up shorter than my Chalco, especially not on the centaur body. It's ok if he's a chibi centaur next to my 70cm, but I wouldn't like that next to another supergem. :3

    8. so, I'm showing up to this party late, but OMG, this right after I finish paying off grit!!... I want so badly! My Helliot head still needs a body, this is so perfect! except it's a boy... Although, if they come out with a girl in tan or grey I will definitely be scraping together my pennies.... I really wish they had put up a photo of the size difference if there is one. Also, "Centauroid Gem" does that mean they plan on making bigger centaurs....??? That would be insane. That would be like a labrador sized doll... (sorry if you guys talked about it already i read every other page or something)

    9. I just saw him from checking the website, and ohmygosh. Now I'm torn between getting my first monthly doll with the money I already had saved up for something else. XD What I like about him is his barrel, the horse stomach. It's not really skinny like Souldoll's centaur, which turned me off to theirs. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, because I haven't been able to read all the pages here yet. X3 He also really looks like a horse, and I have two so hopefully I would know. XD

    10. Nirvaria> I agree, they got a lot of the important details that Souldoll sort of missed like, proportion! And the shoulder area is just awesome. I hope he works well. others were talking about how floppy Nightmare (by doma?) was. whatever the case is he looks pretty good.

    11. Who knows what the stringing will be like on these Centaur bodies. I have to agree with both you and Nirvaria: the proportions on the centaur body are stunning. I stare at the elegance of this doll and often cross my fingers that some artist or team of artists inside of Soom are being celebrated and rewarded. Take a look at the joints by the shoulder for a while and you'll see how careful they were while designing this doll. I do have a few fears he won't stand unless his hindquarters are balanced on the hoof-tips as per some of the pictures. Anyone else notice this in the photos?

MidniteStar, if you're out there, if you go to get pics at Soom could you check if he stands with his hooves flat on the ground?

    12. Nightmare is by Domuya. ^_^

    13. Embarrassing! I always get those two messed up, sorry. I did notice the hind hoof thing too, but I thought it was for the dramatic pose, but it could be something else.

    14. Maybe they will make smaller ones ;)

    15. Has anyone gotten further information from Q&A or similar about how he'll ship? If we get two full dolls if we get the 'human+unikenta' option? I know I'd seen enough people wondering that I hadn't put a question up myself, but wasn't sure if there was an answer to someone who had.

    16. But man, I agree the horse body is beautiful. Such a balanced and graceful design... I dunno how to describe it, but I love it.
I'd totally go for his human head on the unikenta body...
Edit: ahaha, that is; if I had the money...

    17. I think I was the first person to ask this, so when they get around to my QA, I'll be sure to give everyone an answer here!

Edit: I just checked my QA thread on SOOM, and it said the following:

Hi SOOM. I wanted to know, if I buy Epidos and select both Human and Unikenta under doll type, does this mean that I get the whole Human and Unikenta? Meaning that there will be two different torsos, one for each? Or is it just one torso to share between the Human and Unikenta lower bodies, like previous MDs?

      Dear customer,

      How do you do ?

      Regarding your questions:

      1. If you purchase Human and Unikenta versions, you will get 2 different dolls (one Human doll with its own head and torso, and one Unikenta with its own head and torso). So yes, there will be 2 torso parts.

So basically, yes. If you order both Human and Unikenta together (or separately), you'll get two different dolls!

    18. Ok, I've never purchased from Soom before so I am clueless... How does one go about placing a layway and what is the maximum period?

    19. layaway info::

    20. The normal layaway period is four months for their sd size dolls but if you need longer you can email or ask soom for a longer layaway.
