Soom Monthly Doll Jan 2010: Chalco - Forest King

im in doubt because if they did a resin piece for the outfit (see mask) this could be also he wont come with fantasy legs, but only with a special outfit, or an special arm or something else. i really hope to be wrong
is the tan resin more expensive of the grey?

 

Hmm, I completely forgot about this boys release, but by the looks of things I may be soomed again. We'll see tomorrow.

From a creative standpoint, I would love to see bone legs or wings, but not sure if I would pay for one, since it wouldn't really go with any character I had in mind. Unless... NO, STOP, no creating characters before you even see the doll >:O

I like the tan, but if he's hooved, I hope he comes in a NS option, since I really want hoovie feetses to put on a future Soom Lazule, but there's still room in my heart for a number of possibilities regardless. I hope all will be revealed tonight! *WIGGLES GLEEFULLY*

 

Tan seems to be about the same $$ as the grey, at leasy Ai cost the same 'moreness' as Bygg did. So I'd expect him, if he has two versions, to be about the same price range as Galena was, which is oddly fitting, as she's his wife. LOL!

I wonder if her grey and white options make her like an air goddess of life and death, while Chalco's colors (if he has two, which I feel he will because Io did) may reflect the same sore of thing, only Tan would be life and WS would be death? Dayam, I should not type when I've just woken up.

Or around the block from us in a neighbor's front yard... -- it does look like that, and I think it's a steer of some kind. Longhorn, maybe? How cool would that be?

But yes, some kind of bovine is exactly what I thought when I saw that skull, and for just that reason!

ETA: Xtal! Hey! It was only because people kept suggesting *changes* to said Mastah Fuzzy Clustah! And I still want to see one with a long white beard...

Yes, and I didn't want a Sphaler until the Fuzzy Clustah flood. Now, he's just too pretty in dragon form, and I doubt we'll see Mastah Fuzzy Clustah now.

Personally, I was really hoping for Minotaur.
Still a possibility for cat, because I could totally see my cat wearing a bird skull just to terrorize the neighborhood. "See this? This could be YOU next! Mrooowr! *hiss*"
I'm thinking crow is a good possibility too though, the "scar" I thought was just makeup, like the Crow.
The profile looks very feminine to me, and I'm hoping I can let this one pass, but that didn't work with Sphaler!

See, that's ultimately my problem right now too. I'm loving the skull, I adore the tan. I'm completely at peace with scarring. I don't mind if he's fantasy, I'm cool if he's more Io-themed.

But I wanted a guy, and I look at that pic, and I can totally see how Chalco could be a girl, completely! Not that there's anything wrong with that, but Chrom was a guy, and Sphaler was fairly guy. This guy, I see girl!

So I'm hoping the non-profile shots man him up enough for me, LOL! And I know how ridiculous I sound, I have two Heliots and they're both on boy bodies, for heaven's sake. But it's just the shot, I'm sure, and maybe the lip coloring a little. He's got that hot chick potential, no doubt about it.

So are mine... I'm afraid I've gotten so used to "girly boy" dolls that I've just never been able to see Heliots as convincing girls. Even when they have fem-to-the-max face-ups they still look like dudes to me.

It'll be interesting to see better shots of this guy, for sure. He's got the potential to be pretty darn cool.

 

He looks beautiful so far! *o* If he has bird feet, I'll shoot myself. xD But I'm betting stag/deer hooves, which will be awesome too. For some reason, the skull on his head makes me think of a wildebeest. (not that it looks a like a wildebeest skull, just that it makes me think of one.) xD But those don't live in forests, lol.

The only real soom MDs I like are tinies, but I'm in love o.o

I loved Galena, but not her feet XD

If he has bird feet, I probably won't be possessed to buy him (it says "King")

 

I'm very interested in what this guy is going to look like, because I've been looking for a skull for one of my other dolls.
It really doesn't look like a bird skull though. It looks alot more like a deer skull (and not a cat either

Ohwell, SOOM has managed to suprise us before so even if his skull is from a deerlike creature, who's to say it's not a cat anyway?

 

I know I am soomed, I would love so much to see this guy and to grab him ... ah my poor wallet!

 

I assumed that the skull was just a fantasy creature or Cubone's mommy ;_; but the more I squint at the lightened version of the teaser pic the more I think I see the beginning of black horns.

 

I just woke up from a dream where it was revealed that he was...

A horse. Like with a full on horse head. LAME DREAM.

However, in waking I had another thought, what if he's a bat? That live in caves (earth?), the black fluffy about his neck would be fitting, he'd be the darkness to Galena's light, another flighted creature without being a bird. Even the white (blind?) eyes would make sense in that scenario. Batty wings? YES PLEASE. Batty feet? Not so much actually...

 

After 9AM Korean time! They seem to start up their day around 10AM, but I don't think I've seen sales happen much before 1 or 2 PM in the afternoon their time...but we can hope!
