SOOM Monthly Doll July (Cancer) the Third Land: Bix - Fateful Night

I'm a sad starving artist... but if I had unlimited funds this crab boy would be the one I broke down for. Sard and Beryl were very pretty, but the whole hooved demony thing is pretty cliche to me. Crab Arm? Genius!
I hope some people get him so I can drool

(Oohhh... I especially want to see different takes on blushing that crab arm!)

Oh man! Bix is stunning too!!! I mean, wow...everything is so detailed. Very creative!
It's true that the outfit is expensive but the workmanship is amazing, i think it's worth the price!

I love the head (my first thought was "Spinel?!"...but erh, is he?! I love Spinel!!), is there any possible way to get my hands on just the head? XD

*chuckles* it seems like this fellow is being admired as much for his separate parts as for his concept as a whole... I suppose all of the Monthlies have been like that to some extent, but it seemed more pronounced with Bix than with, say, Sard. I guess that claw is just a dividing factor..

 

LOL, yeah. For me, I just love the crab claw and even the ensemble/concept... but the face sculpt isn't calling to me the way some have in the past. Then again, I wasn't too keen on Beryl's sculpt at first either and it totally grew on me... now I love it, and I don't even have her yet!

I don't think that is an option with monthly dolls. At least when I have made requests about my monthly's, I've been told that they won't give custom colours etc on these dolls, as they are limited. But it's still possible to order him blank and have someone else do it.

I really like his face... And I agree that the outfit looks really well made, even if the glove looks unfinished. That person leaving rude comments on the board... it's really quite ridiculous.

Aaaaargh, I so want to get this boy and have him modded into an elf. Wish I'd win the lottery... *Still waiting for a Sard fullset, curious to see the quality of these outfits *

 

My first thought was "Half man, half...scorpion?" I love Soom....Thank God I am ultimately happy with my Dia and Beryl boys that I don't need to worry about this one. :3

 

Wow, I love this doll even better then Beryl and Sard, though don't get me wrong, they were amazing, but I could find little things about them that made me go "Nah..." But Bix is so cool! His concept, outfit, wig, everything! Too bad I don't have the money.

 

I'm loving the hell out of these Zodia dolls. I'm so glad I apparently got into BJDs at the right time. I'm going to go ahead and start saving for Libra.

 

Ok, The person who posted that comment on the SOOM site about the price of the outfit being an "insult" is a moron.
Anyone can see how insanely detailed the outfit is, and how wonderfully it is put together~
I can't believe that person actually had the nerve to say that.

I don't think I like the face quite enough to make it ultimately too tempting.. I don't -think- so...

 

Kearu, someone has requested in the Q & A that Soom post full front face shots of Bix. I expect, seeing how through Soom is, that they will do that.

This is only a part of the reason that I am "soomed" to love this company!

Yeah, I mean, if you don't have the money for ALL the options, then you don't have it... If you can only afford the faceup or the outfit, then the big $pendy outfit has to fall by the wayside, which is sad. But don't go all sour-grapes by claiming it isn't worth the price. "That price is insulting to all doll owners" sounds, to me, like one of those people who comes to this hobby & expects to be able to get anything good for $100. Ptch.

Yes, the allure is powerful! I know so many people who've been idly fantasizing about being able to get fantasy-body-parts like hooves & fins, but don't have the wherewithal to invent/sculpt their own. Soom gets to be on the vanguard here, tapping into this demand. I bet they didn't anticipate THAT much of a mob-scene for Sard, huh? "Whoa! These people want hooves, and they can't get enough!"

There's even more of us who didn't know we wanted any fantasy-body-parts, but fell in love at the sight of a foxy web-handed merman. The concept is the most powerful allure for me, I think. I bought that Vega without really studying the sculpt all that closely... it is a gorgeous sculpt, but with that whole merman fullset/concept, I would have even been happy with a less-gorgeous face. If you have a weak spot for mermen, then the face is kind of second place! If Doll X happens to be your own totem animal, or your own zodiac sign, or something else resonates personally-- it really becomes hard to resist.

I was relieved that I didn't care for Beryl, because I'm an Aries & would've felt too too obligated to buy if it was a boy. ^^ Bix is just amazing; for a Cancer, I'd've almost expected something softer, more watery and emotion-inducing, instead of this demolition-claw power crab. Fantastic!

yes. Vega, Sard and Beryl come with normal appendages as well. it's a great idea since it adds versatility to the dolls. Another reason why Soom is so awesome, they put a lot of thought into their Special Releases.

 

I am glad i am safe. I was worried I'm gonna be spending money again. I like the arm but he is not mecha.

I agree I want to see more of his faceup picture, but i think is the ambiguity about him that kills me.
