Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Soom Monthly Doll (July) the Second Land: Cass - Abyss Rhapsody

Jul 24, 2009

    1. Soom has said that the 'legend bodies' are the same as their normal Super Gem bodies. The only difference between, say Cuprit (on a legend body) and an earlier doll on a regular SG body is that Cuprit will be taller while wearing her hooves (ie the difference is in the legs, not the bodies)

So there probably won't be any difference between your two bodies after all :sweat (unless Soom are loonies, which is possible - if there is any difference, you should definitely post comparison photos!)

    2. D: aw... I was hoping it'd be taller as a human...

well we'll just have to see once she gets here... XD I should have my Amber long before she arrives... XD

    3. i love love love her fishy parts~~~~ i just want those >3<

      ahhhh...damn.

i wonder why there was no picture of her with Iv and Eliv 8/

    4. She's not a mermaid....T_T

Ah well. I think I'll get her anyway, because I really love her face. If a fully jointed mermaid becomes reality later on I'll just swap her out. :)

    5. I am very dissapointed. At first I was glad that her price is below 700$.... I thought that some extra parts will be included in the price-- after all the same was with Topaz.

Her face looks beautiful on the preview pic and the first of the new ones, but some others? She looks like a transvestite to me XD Not so fragile and delicate anymore. Her dress is amazing though.

I am happy for the people who are happy ;) Good luck with getting her!

    6. I was thinking, a lot of their delays right now probably have something to do with the transparent resin issues. Resin on its own is rather fickle, so a resin that's transparent, where every flaw can be seen throughout it must be incredibly difficult. By buying the human version only, it's like they're working in an area they know well. And it might be a little frustrating to see someone getting their human version months before when you got all of the extra parts, but if a human doll takes less time than the ocean elf, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to ship right away for them. I'm guessing they make the heads early on, and then wait for the other parts to finish, so I don't think it would be like all of the human dolls get done first and then the others (although if they're waiting on the special parts, I guess it wouldn't matter.... ^^; ).

This new option is pretty awesome, I'm safe from Cass due to monetary issues, but from baby Amber 'Afi' and hopefully amazing 'Cemen', I will not XD If I don't like their animal parts, I get to skip them, no muss or fuss. I'm starting to wonder how close we are to them just selling the limited heads and parts, heh.

    7. I'm positive this is a different height. Heliot was a TALLER doll listed as 67.5 cm (he's closer to 70 though even on his human legs and lots taller than my IO) Regular supergems are 65 cm *supposedly, more like 66.5 for my io*...and soom lists Cass as 68 if you read next what it says about the height. This is TALLER than they listed for the long legged heliot's. (67.5 reminder) Seeing as how Cass' flippy feet dont really make her taller, this implies that this girl is comperable to a model doll girl and is indeed very tall.

    8. I wonder whether it's just Cass that has the human only option or whether this is going to be a regular thing.

    9. I think shes the first MD to come with an option of being human only or to include the fantasy parts because the past MDs would come with both human and fantasy parts...

      so it was a surprise~

    10. Heliot was specifically listed as 'Super Gem Long Legs Male', which is why he is taller on both his human and 'fantasy' legs. All other MD's are 65cm on their human legs and various heights on their 'fantasy' legs.

Also, Cass's finned feet definitely *do* make her taller - look at the comparison between the two dress examples - her finned feet aren't floppy at all - they're fully extended and would easily account for the extra 3cm.

I asked Soom for measurements for Cuprit, and any differences between the two types of bodies. Their response explicitly said that the Legend body is exactly the same as the SG body, but that Cuprit is 3cm taller when wearing her fantasy legs than when wearing her human legs. She is 65cm tall on human legs, and 68cm tall on fantasy legs. Her body is just an SG body.

ETA: Also worth noting that Heliot wasn't on a Legend body at all - the 'Legend' designation was introduced with Cuprit (which, incidentally, was why I was asking for the measurements for her XD)

    11. Full shots of this alluring beauty at last!
Both dresses' fading colors are gorgeous, the sea elf version is very haute couture. :aheartbea

And I like to think Cass is a double-tailed siren, even though Soom does state her as a mermaid in the bio. Whichever this sea goddess's true identity may be, her shelled ears and tail fins are beautifully designed in my eyes~ :)

Looking forward to seeing which direction owners will go with customizing this girl later! ^^

    12. she's absolutely gorgeous - LOVE those hands!
Love the fins, love everything -
but just wondering how on earth I'd display her with those splayed-out fin feet without getting them damaged...
I wouldn't want to put her on a stand, and if she was sitting/lying those finned feet would take up quite a bit of space!

I'd be interested to hear how people here intend to display her ...:daisy

    13. She is well and truly beautiful! :aheartbea But after taking a look at my funds and the current shaky job situation at the company I work for, I just can't justify putting her on layaway. :(

I do think I really need that human dress for my other Super Gem girl though... that dress is to die for! :D

    14. I'm hoping big time I can get in a split for her dresses. I already have one SOOM doll on layaway, and Ipplehouse Jessica, even with my huge paycheck, I don't think I can afford to pay off three dolls >.>

I really can't wait to see what people do with her, she's a gorgeous sculpt. I for one aren't surprised at her fins. Based on Eliv and Iv it's what I was expecting (although a single mermaid tail would have been totally epic!)

    15. I apologize if this has already been addressed, I went back through a few pages and didnt find anything... does anyone think you could put the human feet with the scaled legs?

    16. i doubt it.... there would be no place to hook the feet onto.... you would have to mod the inside of the fins to accommodate the foot ball joint

    17. To me, it looks like you could. The scaly arms and calf pieces look like the normal Super Gem parts, with scales added on top. I think you could easily use the human hands/feet with the scaly arms/legs.

At worst you might have to sand some of the lower scales flat/off to get a full range of movement, or widen the elastic holes at the bottom (if the finned feet have a narrower ball-joint than the human feet).

    18. But Cass basic is bit cheaper than Topaz basic, so it wouldn't be realistic to expect all the extras to be included at that price in my opinion (after all Topaz was released a year ago and prices only go up as a rule)

I should imagine Soom know about all the doll splitting we do to get the doll we wanted, if i bought her and had to get all the fishy bits i would have to do a split, this way i can get just the human doll which is all i would want and in the same way someone who only wants the mermaid version doesn't pay extra for human parts they don't want and won't use.

If i can get the funds together i will get her, she's a little large really for me but i think her face is beautiful. I also love the human outfit and shoes so i would be prepared for once to pay the extra for them. It really just depends on if i can sell one of my dolls while she is still avaliable as i just put a Euclase body on layaway (yeah finally!) and he's my priority at the moment!!

    19. I'm actually wondering the same thing so I posted a question on their Q&A about it. I'll post the answer when they respond

    20. Actually, prices have gone down most other places due to the exchange rate. Soom's have remained steady on the normal items, so I am hoping they won't go up when the exchange rate strengthens.
