Soom Monthly Doll (July) the Second Land: Cass - Abyss Rhapsody

oh yes, that is exactly correct, i do thing the dolls are on sale from the 30th to the 15th, 2 weeks only.....

 

yeah I realised that this morning Which means I may not be able to buy her... So hopefully I hate her But yeah the human form is still a possibility...I just love her face... the ears are lovly too ...

 

I think she will go on sale Monday or Tuesday.

If I remember correctly.. with many previous dolls, Soom also had put up a teaser before the weekend, and start the for sale period monday or tuesday.

 

The sale period tends to vary, too, depending on when they have things ready to go -- in length and when it starts and stops. I think they'll post at the top of the page when they know what they're doing for the current period, but I wouldn't necessarily use the previous period as a hard and fast example of how the current one will go.

 

my guess is tomorrow night or the night after. They seem to keep the teaser pics up for around 3 days before they release the doll... if I remember correctly

 

yah... ok then, i will just keep stalking... don't want to miss those first moments, so exciting.

 

oddly enough, for me she has the nicest face-up so far on the monthlies. Cuprit's wasn't as bad as Heliot's, but Amber's was too bland.

 

Amber's isn't bland in person. Mine is very smokey.

Soom's faceups are beautiful and they've done a wonderful job with Cass.

 

The only problem was Heliot's faceup looked amazing in Soom's pictures, but they either changed the faceup a tad or their pictures were not true to real life. So I don't trust Soom's pics at all. Amber's faceup in owner pictures actually looks a lot better than Soom's pics. Cass' faceup looks different in both pictures, like two totally different ones which leaves me a bit confused or either the second picture was lightened greatly.

 

Well, face up is done by hand and I am sure with all the orders, there are more than one face up artist so there are many reasons why yours may not look like the promo.

The face up on my Heliot was similar to the promo

PLUS, all the promo pictures have tons of photoshop done. Her sign was added to her eye in the first as well etc. So I would wait until more pictures are up to see how her face up will play into this role.

 

hmm, i think soom's pics just don't do them justice because my vesuvia's face up is unbelievely gorgeous in real life. I am all for Soom Faceups

Also, I think cass is gorgeous & very mermaidy from what i see so far. I will past on her though ... saving my funds for Gelena

 

to me, many of the heliot face-ups show signs of being 'rushed'. i cannot complain at all about the one which i received; it is gorgeous. here and there with heliot, it looked like some soom face up artists got bored with the 'standard' face up and experimented a bit these also came out for the better i think. my only 'complaint' with heliot face ups is really: there are too many of them. had i known that there would be a zillion heliots sporting the same face, i would not have ordered the default.

with cass, i don't really think it matters what her 'default' face up is. i was a 'less experienced soom buyer' with heliot and now i realize: just order the doll blank. a blank doll is probably more frustrating at the outset but more rewarding in the long run. if one ordered cass blank, one does not have to worry about how thick or how thin her eyeliner will ever be. you can get your own unique face up from an artist that you love. the extra bonus to that is: you will be helping an 'artist' pay their bills and make a living. soom is already overburdenedd they don't need anymore face up work from what i can see. .

 

That's how I look at Soom's dolls... Heliot will be natural with spots (large freckles) that also cover his ears. Amber will kinda match... not sure if she'll just be blushed ears or spotted or both.
With Cass (not that I'm going to buy her) I'm not sure at all. If she gets Cuprit's hooves , I'd go green, aqua, blue color theme and go for sea horse (to match the hooves). With "pearl" paint accents... water drops.

 

I think Soom is creating better dolls all the time! If only I had the funds to actually buy one or maybe put one on layaway.

I realize that some dolls may come out looking similar if everyone gets the default face up, but I always thought the point of owning BJDs was to customize them?

 

I'm personally not a fan of buying dolls with default faceups in general, just because doing my own faceups is how I bring out the individual personality in my dolls. They may not be as beautiful, clean, or detailed as a professional faceup, but they convey the character's expression more. Plus, faceupping and working on dolls is how I do my bonding. Though I do admit I love looking at and admiring the artistry of professional faceups, for my own dolls I just love doing faceups too much.

I have one doll who was a very small limited run, and he still has the default faceup because there wasn't a "blank" option for that fullset. It took me SO long to bond with him because of that, but I couldn't bear to wipe off something that beautiful and rare. I think it's far easier if they never have a default faceup to begin with.

I already have ideas for what I'd do with Cass, but it all depends on her lower half. If they do the same thing they did with the tinies, it might be enough to dissuade me from buying her (or at the very least, I'd just split her for some of the parts). I thought the two-legged-finned concept was cute on the tinies, but I'm not sure if it would appeal to me on a larger doll.

 

My feelings exactly chizzie_shark! The other monthlies have all been wonderful and I love Soom's creativity but none ever screamed "gotta have" to me. Until now. That face!

 

Gah, I honestly have no idea what to do... I was suprised when I saw her for the first time-- she is so pretty and so different from the other monthly girls. No that they were ugly, just not really my taste. Cass is fascinating. Yet I wasn't really planning any female dolls... Should I try to join a split and get the head only? Turn her into a boy? Or maybe it's a time for a female doll? Gah. Soom, please post more pics soon because my brain is gonna explode!

Her dress looks so lovely... I think it would look wonderful on an elf

 

well persiacecretary... many girl heads have become boys and they look good.. so you do have that option.

 

I really want to make her into a boy. But the problem is now I am really eager to see how her lower body is. If possible at all I want to make her into a male mermaid. But I know that the built of Super Gem is so different between male and female that I cannot just change the chest piece Augh.... I have never see a female super gem in person (closely enough) to see if I can simply sand down her chest.... but she has big chest so that is a lot sanding which I rather not start maybe a life time (my life time) to sand that down

 

well anavel there are a few of us here with heliots (or will) and amber/cuprits so we could always tell you how it works out.
