Soom Monthly Doll (July) the Second Land: Cass - Abyss Rhapsody

I think what actually bugs me most about the pictures is not how she looks in either of them but how different she looks to me in each of them, lol. She is quite lovely in both, though I really want to find out which one is a more accurate portrayal -- if that makes any sense.

And Cass would make a great mother to an El! I can totally see the resemblance in the mouth area.

Soom dolls are alwas so beautifull sculpted :33333. I love her face and the ear fin thingers are an awqesome touch

 

I'm sort of hoping for what they did with Vega - giving her a mermaid tail as a costume - mostly because I'd really rather a fish tail like that but I can't see how they'd do it out of resin on such a big scale and have it work. I do think it's very unlikely they'll go the Vega-route, though. Oh well, hopefully we'll get more pictures today!

 

dose any think those ear things are detaciable?

 

i do, i think the ear parts are extra.

 

vince_twilight, i definitely think the ear things are detachable. i could be wrong, but i am betting on: detachable ears, head dress, fishy hands arms, and i am leaning toward a vega-tail dress. i think she will have only one head. but, of course, everyone's guess is as good as mine.

i can't wait to see !

 

I'm wondering if the shell / fin ears will be detachable in the same way as the Euclase Romance head ~ i.e. with ear slots in the head that the separate ears fit into. ??? And the fin ears are doubtless separate, as they are made of transparent resin. I'm hoping, though, that they instead fit OVER regular human ears like a clip on (or at least that there is a normal human head with normal ears in addition to a special fantasy head). It's a beautiful and very realistic sculpt, so I've got my fingers crossed!

 

That's what I hope too... the seashell and fin is certainly large enough to fit over human ears. Something kind of like Topaz's ears maybe, except over the whole ear?

I definitely think they're detachable, based on the fact that they've carefully covered the front of the ear with a lock of hair.

 

Ok, maybe I'm just suffering from wishful thinking here, but I really do think she might be a Mecha, largely based on the proportion of her neck. I put together some comparison shots with other Mecha's and Super Gem's. Whaddya think?



The Super Gem neck seems longer, slightly thinner and more angled forward, whereas the Mecha Angel neck is a little thicker and straighter. I might be wrong, but if she is a Mecha, I have some layaway payments to start making!

 

Easily the most impressive argument to date for it, very nice photo lineup!
I'd be impressed if she's a MA, having gotten Saiph in the house now, I can say that it's not quite as overwhelming as I feared it might be.

Oh, yes! I see what you mean. She is absolutely gorgeous, another amazing job by Soom (of course). The necks on the MA's look the same as the neck on Cass. Something about the details/style of the faces on them seems to make me think she's larger, too.
*Shrugs* I guess we'll see, but it would make sense for her to be a MA. Maybe she'll open up a whole new group to this size! In any case, I can't wait to see more of this enchanting lady of the sea! ^_^

 

it would make sense for her to be ma, not only because the neck truly does present evidence that she is, but because vega is ma. she is 'obviously' supposed to match with him.

 

Yeah but my only thing that says she isn't is that I'm sure the MA's didn't sell as well as the SG's. They haven't gone back to them all this time so it would be kind of strange. I guess I'm hoping and not hoping she's a MA cause I would love to buy her, but would have to pass cause of the size lol.

Her hair too could be covering part of her neck, making it appear thicker. But I guess we'll find out soon enough. ^^

 

look at the 'arm picture' . her neck looks pretty ma-ish in that one as well. it's 'pretty straight' . think about this (because we have time to kill and nothing else to think about before she's up ) : soom has to make lots of supergem female size bodies for amber and cuprit, both are white skin so they can just be an 'endless run'. they also have to make tinies, different mold set, just pop tons out only male and female bits are different. then there is normal skin chrom, tons of him. what if they figured out that the next 'mold' not in use is the 'ma' ?? that while the other molds are 'in use' and being run on "those" dolls already ordered, if they used yet 'another' set of body molds they could 'speed up production' ??

you know: like a library where there are tons of different books. then every one can get the book that they need and no one is 'waiting' for someone else's book. (maybe that's not a great example, but you know what i mean.)

 

I thought someone posted way back at the first of the year that all the MD larger doll releases this year were going to be super gem. I can't recall where that was though

 

The theory is that 2nd Land is SuperGem, 3rd Land is Tinies, and next year they will do 1st Land as MAs. I think Cass is a Super Gem - Super Gem girls are built really really similar to MA's, just smaller. And their necks are pretty thick, depending on the angle of the picture...

 

They didn't let LS: Vega sell as well. He was sold out permanantly before his ordering period was up. *sigh*

I would be thrilled if Cass is a MA. Her neck does look thicker than those two girls, but I wasn't as sure about Amber or Onyx. The shortening of the MA neck is an optical illusion by itself. Mecha girls and boys have very long necks!

The SG and MA bodies for the girls are really similiar, but that's a good point about the neck. Hm. (There's more difference to my eye in the SG and MA male bodies, really.) If she's MA, I'd bet on the costume tail -- SG, and it could really be anything. It's really hard to tell. Hopefully we'll find out soon?
