Soom Monthly doll March (Pisces) the Third Land: MA Vega - Last Song

This is most strange and frustrating indeed! I hope the mail carrier still has it in his car and hasn't returned to the PO and you get your Vega on Monday.

 

X_x...!!! Ravnsvart, that is maddening!! I would be seriously ready to go on the warpath after driving all that way, and finding out they have no idea where they keep their packages. I hope it was just a simple misunderstanding and your postman brings you that giant box with his own two hands (& an apology).

Just try to resist to urge to burst into the postmaster's office with a machine gun, bellowing "WHERE'S MY MERMAN?!"

 

Lol, I shall try to restrain myself. Thing is, they probably don't know how expensive the parcel is- I have a suspicion it has been marked as 100 USD instead of 1300, if I calculate right from the packet slip tax-bill. Not that I really mind, if I am mistaken, I might have to pay 400 dollars in tax. Still no excuse for making a mess with my Vega though, he was shipped with EMS and I should be entitled to know where he is and get him asap.

On the bright side, Jenny, you might remember that we spent some time in another waiting room this winter, for the tanned Soo Ri's. I finally opened the can of msc and did their face-ups, they have only been naked and face-up-less for 4 months I was sort of starting to dislike their blank faces, thank heavens that spring and warm weather is here at last. Guess I'll take some pics tomorrow then, to keep myself busy. I am so relieved that the result is not worse, haha

 

*yay!!* : I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever see those guys! Maybe they will keep you occupied while you wait for Vega, so you don't set your postman on fire.

 

just reading this bring up that bitter regret i have for being second away from getting him, I did order him, but didn't check out like a fool i was, I was waiting for my reply,which took forever, and by the time i got the reply...he was gone,back into the depth from which he came -.-

 

I don't belong in here, but thought I'd talk to Mephistol: maybe you could ask Soom if next FFD you could order Vega with a male MA body? I've heard that if sometimes if a customer requests it, they may do that for a little extra money. Then you could probably get male Vega custom painted and modded or something. Just a suggestion!

 

My Vega finally arrived today. More truthfully, I called the postal service and nagged at them, so we agreed for them to leave my parcel at a given office so I could pick him up. Hehe. I think I need some time to get used to handling his size (heck I was unable to put him into a sweather), and the finny parts are so delicate, I am terrified of breaking them. But he is beautiful! The photos I took are crap thogh, the light is all wrong now. Will wait and post some proper pictures when I have figured out his outfit, think I will make him a robe or a "mermaid skirt".

I will name him Njord, as I planned to He just looks sort of alien in his wine silk shirt, skull boxers and combat boots atm, lol! He really, really needs something blue and "sea-creaturish". While waiting for inspiration, I will continue to drool all over the pics of Lalyraa

... and Njord the Sea God is wearing skull boxers and combat boots. XD Why do I love that so much? It just seems so right. Any god of mine would be wearing the same thing.

So, let's see him! C'mon, just a peek! You've been waiting so long, now we're all dying to meet him.

Those fins, they're so delicate, like candy.... ;;; They make it suddenly sound very dangerous to try to take him down to the beach for some ocean-view photographs. I'm still used to handling them too. All his pointy bits are so fragile. Am not even going to try to make him wear a shirt until he puts his human-arms on, either.

Did Njord come with the faceup & body blushing all perfect & just like the picture, too?

And how is he settling in to your little house, taking up as much space as he does? Have the littler dolls all fled in terror, or else tried to climb him like a giant statue?

Oh, great, more pressure! NOW I have to go take more photographs. *heh*
But seriously, I do owe the world more photos. My job is holding me hostage, but hopefully this weekend I will have more photo-time for Lalyraa.

 

I got my Vega today too. He's handsome even without a faceup. He's face is so manly I can't understand how could Soom ever sell him as a female. I too will need some time to get used to his huge size. I knew he's a big man but still it was surprising to actually see that hight in front of me. His finny ears are so thin and fragile that I don't think I have the courage to use them very often. I already drop one of his ears twice. Thankfully it didn't get broken. I'm planning to make him some clothing as soon as I'll have time. Until then my Vega has to wear only his gray boxers ad socks and a pair of combat boots.

 

Waa, even MORE arrivals! AnnieStar, that's such good news! I guess all the Vegas came out of all the Scandinavian Customs offices at the same time!

Could I trouble you for a picture of him without his faceup, by any chance? I really would like to SEE how much of his features are actually sculpted in an androgynous way, vs. how much of it is caused by the makeup. I think the sculpt itself looks almost perfectly in the middle between Masculine & Feminine-- but mine has the full faceup with fancy lashes & a ton of sparkly blushing, so it's hard to judge. I must say, though, the face of the first Female Vega (with her natural faceup) sure DID look more butch than this merman here. ^^

 

Roflmao *Pictures the rest of the doll family climbing up the steep hills of Mount Njord*. Actually, when sitting in my wicker chair, Njord and Gard doesn't look that weird together- alot of Njord's length is in his legs. We are trying to find a house to buy, so hoping that we will (don't love the combination of my expensive doll habits and the very expensive housemarket)... wicker chair it is, probably. I feel so much more comfortable knowing that he sits in a safe and sturdy chair, even if it isn't the typical Sea God Throne- oh! Yeah! That would be it, he really should have a throne! A lady I once knew, made her husband actually build a glass cabined covering an entire wall, to keep all of her dolls safe. If I ever have children, I totally want a cabinet like that

Oh, yes, I think Vega looks very masculine- I don't think I ever saw a woman with a chin like his! His expression might have something slightly ladylike about it though. Nah, still a man to me. A nice one too! Oh, and his blushing and face-up are really well done, I love the faint shimmer. Ok, I'll post a sneek peek of Njord and Gard tucked up in the chair. I really, really need a bigger place if I am to collect Mecha Angels

 

:...!! Gyaah, they do look wonderful together! You're right: since Mecha Angel is almost all leg, he doesn't look THAT oversized next to a ~60cm doll. I was surprised when Lalyraa sat next to Nina the Roda, and they looked quite cozy together. In this picture, Gard looks like he couldn't wait another minute to have that big armful of sea-god next to him. ;D

Vega's got a really strong manly chin, yes, but in contrast, that jawline is so soft! It's an odd combination. Manly chin, feminine jaw; manly nose, feminine eyes. It's hard to pinpoint him. I agree, though, the overall impression is all MAN to me too. The bodacious body helps cure any confusion.

Actually, despite his skin being blue, Njord looks pretty good in wine-red... ^^ I'm surprised at how comfortable he looks in casual clothes! How neat.

PS: Where did you find the skull boxers to fit him? Marvelous!!

PS2: I want one of those giant glass wall-cabinets, too. *sigh* In some perfect world.

JennyNemesis No trouble at all! I was already planning to post blank picture of him. I even took few pics of him last night but they did't turn out great. It was too dark then. I'm trying to take better ones today and hopefully post them here in the evening or tomorrow. You're right about the sculpt, it has both masculine and feminine sides. But seeing him blank reminded me of Spinel actually. They have something similar in their faces, atleast when I look at the pictures. I've never seen Spinel in real so not sure if they're that similar beeing side by side.

Oh, I have few things I'm not that happy with Vega. First thing is that he's very floppy and can hardly even sit. But that's easily fixable, just have tighten him up. Another one is that I ordered him with "removing seam and sanding" service. But he's not totally seamless, I still can see some of the seams. Have to check him out in the daylight and try to fix the sanding myself at some point. I'm slightly upset by this because I live in a small apartment and the only place I can do sandind is the bathroom. And it has no window.

One funny thing happened this morning when I was reading today's paper. My eyes spotted an apartment which was beeing sold. The address of it was Vega's street! How cool would it be living in Vega's street! Sandly the apartment turn out to be all wrong for me, really old and no elevator plus other similar minuses.

 

Yeah! I noticed they didn't string him very tightly either. I assumed they wanted us to get him apart easily to change his arms... or something... ;; Well, he can't hold poses like this yet. I put some hot glue in his head & shoulder sockets right away, which helped a bit, but he still need a mile of tightening.

That's a shame about the sanding service! I thought they would probably do a better job than usual for you on this Vega because he's a limited set. Is it really bad?

I think he and Spinel have almost the same mouth. It's the Soom Family Trademark Puff-Lips! Spinel looks kind of like Namu's bigger tougher brother, and Vega looks like their grownup sister... brother... auntie...? uhhh... and then there's Rex, the pouty delinquent cousin...

 

Not too bad but not perfect job at all. Mostly the sanding is just fine but on few points like front part of his upper arm the seam is very visible. So visible it looks like the seam hasn't been sanded at all. And I ordered sanding service for Beryl too! I'm pretty sure she'll have some seams left too. I really believed they would sand all the seams away.

Oh! Gotta love those Soom's Puff-Lips! Most of the dolls sure look like they're from the same family.

 

... At least you didn't order body-blushing, right? If they left bad seams on, & they couldn't be sanded because of the special blushing, I'd be seriously pissed off if I were you. It's annoying that you'll have to go back & redo their work, but at least you can do it without having to send him back to Soom. Who knows WHEN you'd get him back. Will you be asking them for a partial refund on the sanding? Or not bothering?

I didn't even think to check Lalyraa's seams. I don't normally notice seams, unless they're very bad or have gotten dirty... You're either a "seam person", or else you're not. ^^ I didn't order the sanding-option. I don't know if it automatically comes with the blushing-option. Now that I look at him, I do see some seams, on his waist & upper arm; but in other places, where I'd expect to see seams, like his neck & shoulder, he's totally smooth. (My Namu was the same way.) The seams don't bother me now, but I guess I will have to work extra hard to keep them clean without disturbing the paint.

Too bad that apartment wasn't suitable! If living on Vega Street is amusing, imagine living in Las Vegas... ^.^ I think 'vega' is Spanish for 'valley', or something to do with farms (?). Las Vegas is in a desert though. A bizarre city. However, it is the kind of place where you wouldn't blink twice to see a merman hanging around a casino. It'd be easy for a blue giant to get a job there.

 

Yep, I didn't order the body-blushing. I was thinking I might try to do some kind of body-blushing one day and that was one reason to order the sanding service in the first place. I checked my Vega today in the daylight and thankfully only two seams are really visible. Both of them are in the same upper arm part. So I can sand it of quite easily myself. I don't know yet if I should tell about this to Soom or just forget about it. Have to think about it.

Normally I don't mind seams that much. Mostly because I don't like to do the sanding myself. But since Vega is a limited one and I was getting him blank anyway so I thought I should go for the sanding service. I sure hope they'll do better job with my Beryl.

Las Vegas! Lol! Didn't even think about that! If all the Vegas of the world would ever want to have a meeting of their own that'd be the place.

What a huge difference. Thanks for the pics! It's still a really good face, even with no paint. Wonderful bones. Now I'm really curious: HOW masculine could he look, without the Soom glamour-makeup? How far into "manly" can this face be transformed by thick eyebrows, light lashes, or neutral lips? I am eager to see who will be the first to finish painting him, so we can all see.

(I haven't even looked at many female Vegas either, so maybe I will go look for some to see what other variations are out there.)

Still haven't heard a word on shipping for mine. Have there been any other ship notices since the first few? I know Soom must be very busy right now (I couldn't resist their new incubus either), so I don't want to bother them with too many questions...I'm just anxious to hear something about Vega.
