Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Soom Monthly Doll (March) the Second Land: Cuprit - Black Frost

Mar 24, 2009

    1. This is exactly what I was thinking, too. I was mildly surprised to see hooves on Cuprit, after so many hooved dolls just prior, but it fits with the demonic theme. It just happens that they are doing the demon thing right after the zodiac dolls, which included quite a few hooves. I do like the ice effect they've done with Cuprit...

    2. Strange question, does anyone know if Soom used to sell resin wings for the YOSD range they have? I just went on to check how much the wings are, and now I cant find them @_@ I've just got back from work so Am I just being dense?

    3. I know I hadn't gotten a chance to get a hooved doll, so I'm quite happy about being able to buy Cuprit.

    4. Oh, wow~ :aheartbea I would love her head on a Gem body, but there's no way I'm going to be able to afford a split. I also really like the way the elastic sort of looks like bone, through the clear hoof parts- it's a nice, eerie touch you might not catch at first glance, but it makes a wonderful detail. ^.^

    5. Beryl's wings actually had pink ribbon ties instead of the elastic (the ribbon matched her corset). They also had alligator clips so you could just clip it onto the back of her corset instead.

As for Cuprit... I'm not really sure how hers will attach though.

I'm also feeling a bit disappointed, kind of in the "not another hooved doll" camp at first. Which makes me feel kind of hypocritical since I was lucky enough to get one of the earlier hooved dolls, and I have Glot on layaway. I do understand how grateful I would be for a second chance if I had missed out on Beryl.

But I think you hit the nail on the head here... for me, it's just the timing. I think it's the spacing out of the dolls that's making me get a little bored. We had lots of beautiful, original ideas like Euclase, Topaz, and Vesuvia that broke up the original Beryl/Sard release and the Heliot/Amber release, so by the time Heliot and Amber came out, I was excited to see hooves again!

But with Heliot, Amber, Glot + Glati, and now Cuprit all in a row... I think that's what's making me so eager to see something different again. Soom set the bar so high that I'm expecting something to just completely blow me away every month. :sweat

    6. I thought I was the only one that thought that! It really does look like bone and pretty eerie, but cool! ^^

I've decided to probably get Cuprit bare. I love her outfit, but not for $180. *_* I kind of wish the wings were sold separately because I don't care for them, and it would have made the outfit much cheaper. Hm a split might work I suppose? I think I don't need her horns also, but the purple blushing is just dreamy.

    7. Does anyone know if the panties of Cuprit's outfit are attached to the skirt..? >.> I'm trying to split the skirt with the outfit but it's kind of hard if the panties are attached :XD:

    8. Lazulistar:
I think that a split could works for the wings because if it is like beryl, wings are separate of the outfit ^^

    9. I'd like her, but her mouth bugs me way too much. Those feet are fantastic, though! See-through!

    10. I am totally getting this doll! I am in love!!

    11. I know that within Japan, the 2 most popular were IO and Topaz, whereas in the West it was Sard (Japanese people find the coloured skins and darker themed dolls scary, apparently). This doesn't include Heliot or Amber (not in the store yet).
I could be wrong, but has Amber been the best selling girl so far?
At any rate, Japan doesn't seem as big on the hooves thing, but the west loves it and makes up more of Soom's customer base.

Either way, I'm guessing no hooves next month if we move on to Fire. If we move on to Earth though, hooves are probably very likely... unless they go and give us little feline creatures or something - that would be adorable! :D

    12. Maybe they're combining their customer base - Japan likes the seethrough resin, the West likes the hooves?

    13. I love everything about her! except her face. It's still gorgeous, but I don't totally love it. I'm going to keep in mind about this one.

    14. I'm confused, I've seen inside store photos with both of these dolls present. Amber seemed very Japanese spirit in theme to me actually.

Cuprit is of intriguing design, but I'm not feeling anything for her. I really do hope Earth isn't next, and like it's been said, hopefully we have non-hoofed dolls (tiny and SG) for the next two months.

    15. Sorry if I was a little vague!:sweat

My guess is that Amber probably was popular here, but she isn't actually in the store yet. They have an entire section dedicated to the past MDs, but neither Heliot, Amber, Glot or Glati are there yet because they haven't gotten to shipping stage.
The way it seems to work is, during the ordering period of a particular MD, Korea sends over one doll to Japan. It's kept in a glass case (the other's you can just poke at cause they're right there) for people to look and hopefully order during the order period.
Then when that's up, Japan boxes up the doll and sends it back to Korea.
Of course Heliot and Amber's ordering period is long gone, so their dolls aren't in the store. Therefore, the Soom lady and I weren't talking about them at all. We were only talking about the ones right in front of us. (Deneb through to Vesuvia).

Japan actually prefers smaller dolls in general I was told, just because living space is much smaller and it's not as easy for people here to have even ONE super gem doll, let alone two or three.
Glot and Glati sold REALLY well though, with more Glati's being sold than Glots.

    16. Im trying to get the "armour" pieces only, does anyone know if the panties are attached to the skirt part?

    17. If you can wait a little bit, I'm going into the store over the next week to see Cuprit for real as she's going to be arriving soon! I can ask then?
Even if the Soom lady doesn't know, we can poke and find out xD

    18. Hehe XD. Thats very nice of you (and ooo how nice to be able to walk in and see all those monthy dolls in person). Sure, that would be great, if its attached to skirt somehow I have no choice but to order the whole outfit, i cba to find a silver panty to go with it.
