Soom Monthly Doll May: Bazael - Rauco of Pain

Well, I still really like his wings, but as expected I'm not impressed by anything else about him. I DO like his outfit, but WOW is it pricey. Soom dolls are getting really expensive. *sigh*

Oh, and I also like his wig. I think I must be the only one on the planet who actually likes his wig. I totally want it for my Monzo!

 

Does anyone else agree that the face looks like Kristen Stewart?

I'm on the fence with this one. I love the wings, outfit, wig, but I wish he was bigger.

 

He is pretty cool, actually. He reminds me a bit of Sphaler with the slightly evil smirk and the shape of his lips and chin. (Though on Sphaler it looks more knowing than evil.) I think the height of his wig is throwing off the proportions of his face. The wings are great! I'm not in love with the feet, but they do look demonic, which is what they were going for. I LOVE the outfit!

I want to see what this month's Idealin looks like, but I'll probably try to get him. .

I'm not 100% in love yet (though when people get him home if I don't, I'm sure I will be...) but I like him better than any of their grey MDs to date. ^^ With Ender, I think I let out a very loud excited noise when I saw him, but maybe I'm too tired. I think the nose is right, but the rest of his features probably wouldn't work for an OE head for my SpD Dark (though I think Ringdoll Frankenstien in greyskin would, lol). I want his hands and the claws are so cool! XD Okay, enough drooling now.

 

Hmm, he is pretty...but what is up with those feet? xD; Too many toes...like a six-toed cat....*giggles*

Pretty is not enough for me, though. In order to plunk that much down on a single completely unplanned doll he must knock me over, and I'm afraid he falls short of that. If I had no other plans for other dolls, and no need for bodies to complete floating heads, I would totally get him, though...just never use the feet. *giggles*

 

*dances* Loving his face and the ears. Looks like I found my new Luka. ^^;;; I wonder how his grey skin will compare to Euclase's. It looks like a warmer grey than Monzo's, though that could just be the blushing. You can never tell from photos.

 

I think what you say here has summed it up for me and helped me to decide!
I'm looking for that 'getting-back-into-the-hobby' doll and that would be Dollshe Rosen in a heartbeat if the current wait times were not so horrendous! This guy is too much of a compromise right now though certain aspects of him are great. And if not Rosen, I'll wait for the next Idealian...

 

I want to put that body on Sphaler claws. 8'D B... but.... I'll need to find a head for it... 8'D And I'm broke.... But... it would be an awesome combo and I can has dragon? 8'D

I just want the doll and the hands - would that I could just order those and not the rest. I guess that's what a split is for... *le grumble*
His mold is perfect for one of my Exalted characters, but I just can't get into the parts - not even the wings

Bazael isn't really my cup of tea anyway, but I was hoping to see him in that awesome red resin... =/

 

Haha, that were my thoughts too! The longer I look at him, the more I like him. I love the lips. And I am desperately trying to imagine him with a different wig ...

 

I rather like him, but not enough to plunk down that kind of cash for a totally unplanned doll.

His feet actually look really creepy to me -- they aren't huge and bear a closer resemblance to human feet than clawed fantasty feet tend to, but they are clearly not human and more beastlike. A more subtle shade of unnatural, I suppose. And I totally see the resemblance to Dollzone, in the promo pic the first thing my sis and I thought was that he reminded us of DZ Yuu. But IMHO he looks prettier than that. ^_~ Well . . . except for the LOL wig. xD

 

I guess I'm the only person who loves the feet then. Don't get me wrong, they're the epitome of UGGO, but MAN do they fit his demonic, pain-causing character to a T. Six toes and all - that's just wonderfully wrong and creepy. If I had the funds, I'd get him in a heart-beat to be one of my kings of hell. Those feet are just PERFECT.

I'm also happy they gave him a pretty shapely nose, a few of the recent males suffered from a nose-bridge-less syndrome. I'm not a big fan of his face, but I have a feeling that it's mostly the fault of the face-up.

As for people asking for a red Trachy daddy, it might still be possible. If they play out the current theme like I think they would, it would probably mean at least one repeat in each size and theme.

That wig.... it's too distracting for me to judge whether or not I like his face properly. So far I'm safe, but that's what I said about York too....

I really don't like his fantasy feet, there are too many digits, it just looks weird to me. I do love his wings though. *sigh time to debate. I'm always so afraid of passing up on Soom MDs in case I change my mind, since they're usually pricey secondhand.

was tempted in white with Sphaler claws, but then would have to share bod with my Sphaler head - not good! ... really really not keen on Bazael feet, but Soom did manage to surprise when they were unveiled!

having the wings as well as the fantasy fet must have bumped the price up, wish the feet were optional like Shoshon's! would have made getting Bazael a lot more tempting.

and I just love his shoes (was thinking originally on looking out for a split for the outfit, but the price as put me off rather!)

 

i am on the "darn, soom! why did you not make the wings interchangeable?!" bandwagon. .

he is not for me. but, of course, i am all about 'hooves'. i think that he will make alot of people happy. i also think that it will be the same old soomy story of "owner pics and creativity will bring out his potential and then everyone will want him" ala Vesuvia.

 

Of course not. This is Soom, you know. But it looks like they wimped out on making them real deadly-looking spines. The feet don't match the hands, I think that's what bothers me about them. To me it seems the feet are well done and detailed but the hands, the fingers especially, are. . . chubby. I do like his wings. I'd be tempted by them if Soom's grey could be modded or sanded. They'd work for a half-demon character I designed a few years ago.

He looks like a bit of a mash-up of Bix and Lazule. I agree with you, they are taking the easy way out it seems. Tweaking past sculpts instead of coming up with something different. He's also pretty expensive for what he is.

not sure on the DZ appearance, perhaps people are noticing the chin which is larger than Soom usual (I think ?) big chins, though, I always think of AOD ...

 

Cat ^..^ - the wings do look interchangable with with Amphibel which is promising for future wing releases..?


for me the wig and feet have really put me off - without these two I am sure he would look completely different
