Soom Monthly Doll May: Bazael - Rauco of Pain

ARGH! Just dropping in to say I actually LOVE his face! I just plunked down money for a Sabik, though and, unfortunately, Sabik > this MD. But, I find him BEAUTIFUL! I would put a different faceup on him, though. Something about the faceup makes his mouth more, erm, abnormal than I think it is. That's not the exact word I'm going for but I can't think of what I want to say. XD To whoever buys him, I can wait to see him. I think he'd be absolutely breathtaking in person.

 

It's funny... the wig is still a wonderful wig, I think. I just wouldn't style it that way. I'd almost be interested in getting it just to take it DOWN because there are so few fabulous white wigs that I like...

Wow, he doesn't look ANYTHING like Yuu, to me (as I sit comparing Sano's face to the picture on the screen). On the other hand, sculptors do seem to move around from time to time, so who knows. I'm looking forward to the faceup-less shots!

 

The lip blushing on his face-up is what's driving me crazy. The rest of it, I don't mind. I'd like to order him completely blank, but I know I wouldn't be able to commission a face-up artist for him for a very long time. ^^ As weird as it sounds, I wonder if Soom would do the face-up and leave his lips blank? ^^

 

I love that they've labeled his wings as "Wings of Pain". Honestly it made me chuckle a bit. Bummer that they're not interchangeable with a Nephelin body though, and here I thought I might have found a reason to keep her body. lol

 

I'm surprised, I thought this was going to be a hard one to say no to, but I'm honestly not that into him.

 

That's wise of them. Perhaps some of the people behaving like children in their comments section will think twice. Admittedly, I didn't see tons of nasty in his comments this time -- unless I just missed it or they cleaned it up quickly.

 

I think Soom is being as inventive as ever. Love the ragged wings. Love the hand-claws. Love the feet (really--the Euclase and Sphaler talons have been DONE!... nicely, but DONE). And the outfit rocks! I also happen to like the face... looking a bit like York and others is OK with me! (Loved them, too.) And I love the whole demon thing--and cool story, too!

Sadly for me... I've got two Sooms on layaway... and that's just killing my budget for just about EVERYTHING already... so I can't get him...

 

Kristen Stewart? Maybe that is why I find him so gorgeous then.

I really like his face. If my Hyperon needed a younger brother I might have considered it.
The wig made me lol but would look really cool if it were styled differently. Like the hands, wings and actually I don't mind the feet. However the legs disappointed me.
Are those just normal legs with some pointy stuff added to the sides? If I had really loved the legs too I might have broken my rule of only buying dolls I already have characters for. But as it is now it is not enough for me.

I don't see any DZ in him at all. I see some Hyperon and some of the other Soom dolls in him though. But I don't see why it would have been a bad thing if he did have some DZ in him. Oo' What's up with all the DZ hate you guys?

 

Got an answer. About the wig- yes it is possible to style it another way. You just have to remove the ribbon and everything will fall down. That's good news.

Tomorrow I will get the picture of the blank head. I will post it.

 

I had exactly the same thought yesterday - I would be happier about the face up if the lips had a pinkier tone to them than brown...

10.51am edit note: ....a funny thing just happened...I placed an order for him!

Despite everything I've said about him, he is on my mind and the more I look at him, I think his little demon self is so adorable! I've ordered him cream white as there seem to be more option parts available in the after-market than in the grey, no face up which was difficult to decide as I love his eyebrows but hate the lashes and lips, but I still want him to look like 'him'...anyway, will have to try and re-create it when he gets home. I also ordered the outfit (no shoes) and the crazy wig.

First payment is down and thankfully, fingers crossed the rest will be paid off next month. I feel happy about my decision to go for him and feel I can relax now!

 

I'm definitely going to order this guy asap, probably next week~ I've been wanting a grey BJD for a long, long time, but haven't really been interested in the existing molds... But Bazael is just perfect *3*
I didn't really like the fantasy feet and horns, so I'll be getting only the human doll and the special hands. The wings are cool and I did ponder whether I should take them or not, but I figured that they might not look so good without blushing.
Anyways, can't wait to order him

It would be a simple matter to post from somewhere other than home (school, library, any hotspot). They behave like children because many of them are. Anyone 13 or older is allowed on this forum, after all. *shrug*

Now if I really wanted to have a creature that looks like he was truly capable of giving pain, I'd get those wings and put them on an Impl Miguel. Now he has spiky bits! If I had the money, I'd do it to mine. Alas, AX and the associated expenses has devoured any spare funds.

 

Do you guys noticed that now SOOM have several different artists who make the head sculpture? (For myself, I just found it yesterday). You can find out the name of artist on the doll information. You will find 3 of them at least. And after compared with their works, you will easily know which one you like the best. Maybe someone can give a list of these artist and their dolls later.

Well, I just want to say, if you sometime feel disapointed with some dolls of SOOM. It might just because of you don't like the style of that artist. And you will easily understand why they can provide so many dolls ceaselessly.

PS, I will probably consider about the body and wings of Bazael in CW and I agree that he will look better with another faceup(I think SOOM have several different artist for faceup too). But his face is not my taste.

 

Ooh, I would be interested to see some sort of list comprised of the artists and their creations. I do have a strong preference concerning sculpts. Though perhaps not for this thread. ^^

I am getting quite excited for my boy, especially as he's the last I need before I semi-retire (we'll see if that happens though, haha). I only wish I could decide about the face-up. Soom didn't answer my question yet regarding his lips. ^^

EDIT: Hmm, I need to find out if there's a way to partially remove a face-up without getting that horrible MSC "ring" around the cleaned area.

 

You might be better off saving the pictures from the site itself, and commissioning something similar from an artist. (Or trying to replicate it yourself if you were planning on doing the faceup yourself.) I have a feeling the ring would be a problem on removal, and it could get odd if they sealed it, then the lips were done, and they needed resealing -- if the lips take a lot of layers of MSC to get done well, it might 'lighten' the rest of the faceup slightly beneath the MSC layers, or make the whole head look considerably lighter if you're aiming for the grey skin. (Darker resin colors, even with just a coat or two of MSC, can sometimes appear a little lighter than the body even if they're resin-wise a perfect match.)

 

Thanks Surreality, you're probably right. I was thinking about the possibility of magic eraser on the lips, but that might affect the grey skin, and of course there's the problem with re-sealing. I'd hate to have too many coats on that gorgeous skin. ;p Now if only the artist I'd love to use wasn't booked for months. ^^ I might just have to enjoy him blank for a while.
