I think I'm going to have to beg off on this one, much as I do like her! I'm betting that resin isn't sand-able. And I have a Topaz on layaway *cough*.

Although I probably COULD have a blast doing her up "cute" like my Beryl :X.

 

Well, I for one hate anything to do with "sexy women." (Far too much of it, and seriously not enough of the male equivalent) But I can easily see her as a more "cutesy" character without that outfit. Even with the outfit... You can put your sewing skills to the test and even put something underneath like a robe and then have the sexy outfit above it. So it looks more like a robe with armor over it...

Also, I always hated the insinuation that revealing clothes on women are "skanky" or "slutty" or whatever. I don't believe in using these insulting terms for women. But that's totally off-topic rant that could go on at length...

 

Man Soom gets us comming and going. With two Doll collectors in the house, they have a double chance we'll pick dolls up...So Yeah, Hubby is trying to figure out the finances as he must have his 'Devil Woman' (with evil on her mind... *continues humming the song*)

 

I have to ask, am I the only person who doesn't like her shoes? .-. Cause I think they're seriously tacky.

As for the resin, while the purple is extremely cool, I think a tan would have been more appropriate for her. The purple is also pretty close to the gray, and we haven't seen any tan SGs yet.

 

Ohhh, me and Mimiko are so back-and-forth on this one. We REALLY can't afford her, and we really don't need another super gem girl. . . but her face is so ridiculously cute and her resin. . . !

Maybe I'm in the minority over here, but I love that they're doing a really sexy, vampy girl. In terms of dolls put out by the companies, I really think there's way more of a suplus of the really cutesy type (not that I don't like cute). Or in Soom's case, the icy warrior-woman type. XD

Sorry, drifted off for a moment there. I don't want any large girls, but I think she has some definite good points. I like her face much better than Beryl's, the tail is a nice bit of engineering (and removable anyway), and sparkly lavender resin is just too cool. Face it, if she'd been grey people would be complaining "That's the third grey doll they've done! How boring!" right now. They aren't showing her ears, so I have to conclude she must have human ears, which is the one thing about her I find disappointing. If she'd had elf ears like Sard or Topaz, then I would be tempted! Soom has still been more hit than miss all year long. They deserve a lot of credit for taking risks and displaying grace under pressure (and I'm saying this even after my Sard came without his legs fully drilled through).

Am I the only one who really thinks the sexy is awesome? T_T Scorpio's first and foremost trait in any well-educated horologist's literature and canon is sexual power. Now, don't take that wrong, as though I were saying that all Scorpios MUST be nymphos... But in the canon of horoscopes, this is undeniably universal. Soom is getting their inspiration from canon, not from individuals they know. And not only that, but who says being sexually powerful, or even a nympho, is so awful?? I consider that quite a wonderful trait in myself and in others.

I dunno, I think there is something to be said for a company that acknowledges its audience. We're all grownups here, people... we dont collect (or pay very 'mature' prices for) these dolls so we can take them to the sandbox. It's art. I am the first to admit I am a perv in general every day life... so I'm all for looking at a sexy woman. Just cause she's resin, not flesh, doesnt mean I decide to reject sexy. I totally get how sexualized dolls could make some people uncomfortable, but you can't run an entire industry based on one audience or another. You have to give everybody something they like, and that includes people who have a more adult attitude toward dolls. Vesuvia is not for the bleeding hearts, nor the perfectly sane people who simply would rather sex stay removed from their hobby. Vesuvia is for people who acknowledge that art is good when it imitates life, but is best when it imitates fantasy. And also for the pervy doll fanciers. X3

But I do dislike the prevailing opinion that just because she's wearing awesome heels and leather, taking control of her sexual conquests, and comparing herself to addictive sweet chocolate, she must be a skank. I'm a domina in real life, and I am certainly NOT a skank.

Just keep in mind that her fullset promo is a CHARACTER... she is a playful fabrication for the purpose of selling resin. She isnt even a role play, because beyond this promo, Vesuvia does not exist. Soom probably doesn't even treat their mother-sculpt as though she is actually this character. Just like all our dolls are not actually having sex with each other or having real conversations... she is IMAGINARY. *L* So can she be a skank? Especially when she comes home and you can make her any damn thing you please? This is how we play... no need to get offended.

 

That lavender resin is beautiful... they most have been mixing the grey resin with other colours to see what they could make

This. Even though I'd rather her a killer pair of boots, rather than those heels. I'm not one for heels.

I actually found her comparing herself to chocolate quite delicious, and I don't see why people find things wrong with sexuality. I can understand the 'not for them', and as beautiful and sexy as she is, she's not for me (I have a different idea for a similar character.. eheh XD)

I do find it funny how people will call a sexy female doll such things, but a sexy male doll will just be drooled over.

That said, I'm really looking forward to seeing her in photo shoots. Heck, she's got a face of an angel, I'm sure someone could give her a gorgeous look that's completely opposite of the character she's been given here.

 

i dont have a problem with the sexual thing they have done. i'd rather have something different but i like the doll for the doll not the outfit or layout of her page.

once you have the doll in your hands im sure that stuff goes away anyways because you can make your own character out of her

however when i look at her i think she looks much to sweet for horns and a deadly scorpion part. i see her more of a dark fairy or a moody yet innocent type

maybe if they had done red pearly resin id see it. but the pretty purple resin with the innocent face makes it hard for me to see

Tbh, I think she has too much of a "porn star" look going on. If she is indeed purple, that is interesting- but I don't fancy her face, outfit, shoes, tail or anything really. I think Sooms dolls are getting less interesting on my own behalf.

I think she's pretty awesome. Perhaps less universally appealing in design, but still awesome. The Super Gem girl body is really vampy so this style was kind of inevitable. I can't wait to see how the tail works! The sparkly resin is intriguing.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this release because I imagined that the last two dolls are posing a much more difficult engineering challenge and they needed a break on this one.

 

I'm surprised by how defensive people who like her are getting because of some disappointment in what she comes with. I haven't really gotten the impression that anyone here is complaining she's a poorly designed doll, she's just really not as wildly unique as some of the others. I don't think that SOOM failed to represent Scorpios in any way, or did them some kind of injustice. I just think shiny black leather, whips, and devil horns are getting really old. I'm sick of seeing that stuff on El and Shiwoo, too. I am perfectly okay with the choice of the sexual role as the dominating characteristic for this doll.

I don't think anyone is really OFFENDED persay, and this is a discussion thread, after all. We're discussing the fullset as well as the mold itself. A doll is going to be interpreted differently by owners, of course, and I do see plenty of potential in her. However, the way a company markets something is extremely important. Some people are going to like what they see, others are not. Personally I see a gorgeous facemold and an awesome tail part with a bunch of haphazard additions that don't make sense or even go well together. The blonde wig and bright green eyes really throw me off. They should have stayed with a black, red, and violet theme in my opinion.

 

She is beautiful . Because I love scorpions she has become my favorite.

I particularly like her dress ( it is sexy)

The face is interesting a mouth like gods and those eyes....
