1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Monthly Doll November (Scorpio) the Third Land: Vesuvia - Poison Kiss

Nov 24, 2008

    1. I am still on the fence about her..would love to get her but then wondered if the resin would be really a light purple or would it be greyish like other companies dolls...so I asked Soom..and here is their response:

      Dear Customer,

Good day to you, thanks for your deep interesting in our dolls.

      Reagarding the Vesuvia,
The skin color is not exactly VIOLET,
      Pearl Violet Resin Skin;
It is the specialty resin we developed.
A resin pearl contains, it gives the feeling that mysterious and as a pearl contains.

but not like a GRAY skin.

Thanks a lot, if you have any question plz feel free to contact me at any time.

      Best regards,
      Jin Lee

so I am not sure what to think.......

    2. Catdancer, I think some of it could depend on how you blush her... if you use grays and cool tones she would probably look more gray. But if you blush her with violets or pinkish tones (kind of how they had done with the default Shadow Onyx) she would appear more purple. Also if you dressed her in anything that leaned towards gold or ocher...

    3. i have a feeling that it is an iridescent type of color, maybe it has a sheen that changes slightly in different light? you know, like the interference powder that you can mix into paint for a sheen.

    4. I'm not cranky at all. I just disagree with stereotyping guys as drooling mutts that will flock to anything in trampy sex-themed clothes. If they do, it's not always because it's natural inclination. In other cultures, innocence is much sexier than aggressive sensuality.

(And, just as an aside, breasts are not sexual organs and, depending on which culture you study, straight men are probably going to notice different parts of the female body. Some cultures don't really sexualize breasts.)

But, I'm probably going too far off topic...

    5. I gave in and ordered her - sigh. I just have such plans for her!

    6. a friend of mine would like to get her but she is not so sure, because she is afraid there is a possiblity she is not going to bond with her after seeing her and than she should have to sell the girl and loose some money. i told her i'm convinced that's not likely (based on previous experience with soom md dolls) and on the contrary she could probably make some money too if she get to give her away in a few months. do you think she is right or that my advice to get her anyway is a good one?

    7. I think you should always go with our heart and not any monetary value/loss. There is absolutely no way to predict whether she'll be worth anything extra or less. If your friend is doubting- then best if she doesn't spend the money and waits for a doll that completely blows her away. A bit of an over dramatic point- but it's kinda like thinking marriage is okay cus you can just get a divorce if you don't like him anymore. Seems if you think like that; then it's not right for you.

    8. Of course one should always buy with one's heart, and not with an eye to investment. But practically, yes Soom MDs do fetch a decent price on the market from what I've seen, so if that's a factor that matters to your friend, serendipityhope, then it seems a safe bet.

    9. When the doll pictures were released she was enthusiastic but i was not (as i've said before i don't like isnsect references in doll, not my taste) and i probably i gave her doubts about vesuvia too, so now she doesn't know if shel'll truly like her or not and i feel a bit guilty about having been so critic of the doll she was interested in buying but it would be even worse if she now gets vesuvia, and than she truly doesn't like her when she sees the doll and she loses money too as she fears.

i think there's a lesson here to be learnt: never meddle with a girl and her choosen doll, or you get responsibilities you weren't looking for ^^

    10. I think if she bought her and then decided that she wasn't for her she could sell her easily..because she is a limited doll and at this time of the year not alot of people have money {and the economy isn't helping either} but when she comes in would be around the time people will be getting tax money back and have a little extra to spend.
I, myself am on the fence about her...I really like her, but don't want any more debt right now{cards nearly paid off ! :fangirl:}..so I may probably wait until she comes in and people decide she isn't right for them and pick her up on the secondary market as I only want the doll and not the tail torso and parts...but she will probably be more...soooo
I have time i may decide to do a split with someone now.. oh decision decisions..

    11. Love her sculpt! Her outfit is fantastic!

    12. Hmm, I'm totally with Absynthe on this one, actually. See, when Euclase first came out, I was like, _stunned_ with awe. But then I waffled, like, for days. Including the layaway, I will probably be the last to get him, LOL!

But the thing is, I am getting him. My friend, who isn't into Euclase, didn't try to talk me out of it, she just wasn't into him at all, and spent the time talking about DoD dolls, LOL! This didn't help, I agree (though I'm also now on the DoI waiting list, sigh). ;) But I kept dreaming about him, and dwelling on him, until I knew he was the right one. No splits, nothing like that, just mine! (mine-mine-mine-mine...)

So the great thing is, she has days yet to think about this. It won't be an impulse buy or anything like that. Just step back and let her see how she feels in a week or so. As the deadline nears, if she starts to panic or angst, she should probably buy if she can. And there's layaway! :)

And the advice can work both ways. It may be she doesn't jump for the event, but ends up in the Marketplace looking at a Vesuvia who didn't bond well in a few months, no? ;)

      .hlp

    13. YES! Awesome! Now we will have a Topaz, Euclase, and Vesuvia in town :D. Ooh, I can't wait until we all get our MDs!

    14. you're totally right, and i think today she decided not to buy her, but as miss scarlett used to say tomorrow is an other day :sweat
she is quite young and she wanted a doll as xmas gift so maybe she is going to get an other girl somewhere else.
me i won't say anything else till she decide and than do the actual buying fer her when she has choosen;)

    15. Oh, that is so cool! We are going to have the best meetup pics! I want to see how Topaz's ears look on Vesuvia - I bet it will be awesome!

    16. Good point there.

    17. ......... LIKED her. :).

    18. I am a bit.. no, completely in love; However, she's *really* not in my budget right now so I'm left sad! :( Just lovely as a doll though I'm breathless with awe. I totally did not dig last month's but she's.. lovely.

    19. I just sent my first payment for her. I love her so much already x3

    20. Wow, she looks great! I can understand the comments about her ehm... appearance, but personally I don't mind. She has something (and no, it's not the outfit ;) That I don't like. But I do like the wig!).
I think she would look good in long white/ ecru regency/ ancient greek-inspired flowing dresses, or a dress that's open in fornt and has a shorter dress underneath. I realy see the vulnerability someone else mentioned. I am seriously considering getting her on layaway (since I can't possibly afford her anyway else), but I can't figure out how the credit card lay-away plan works (perhaps I am a bit dumb) It seems that you have to place two orders? *goes off to see if she can find something about that on these forums*
