Oh my! I can't wait for more pictures! I do so adore gray skin but I really hope she's not too expensive...!
I wonder if she's going to have hands or if she's just going to have wing arms like the little ones. Hope they post more photo tonight!

Dear God. Why? Soom. You just ate all my money with Chrom. You didn't have to make her have wings. But you did. Because you hate me. That's what it is, isn't it? You truly hate us all. You want to rip out our poor little hearts and stomp all the money out of them while we weep on the floor. Then you make us wait 5 months for such beautiful awesome things. Then, meanwhile, you release more awesome things. To make us poorer. Then we have to buy clothes from you. And shoes. And bags to carry all these beautiful things and their big resin wings.
Its a conspiracy I say. Soom's out to kill us all.

She is gorgeous. Makes a nice sister for Onyx and definitely reminds me of Euclase. I love the grey of Euclase... it's really beautiful as a skin-tone... And Soom makes such lovely faceups to go on the grey!

I wonder if she'll have birdy feet if she already has resin wings? But you'd think she'd HAVE to have birdy feet, right?

At any rate, I'm sure those who fall in love with her and are able to get her will be happy.

Sadly, I'm totally poor right now. I'll have to be happy playing with my Euclase and waiting to see everyone's fantastic photos.

Think that would be weird for a girl doll? I mean, I definitely have some crazy gender madness in mind ANYWAY. Just the Galena sculpt seems to have so much masculinity and power, whilst being feminine at the same time, something tells me she'd be PERFECT!!!!

But I think it would be so awesome if you got her and made her Oberon, I don't know, it feels so right, and she looks so kick-ass, I'd love seeing it. Only, I have this feeling that if Earth turns out a beautiful SD guy, you'd have to break your own rules and buy him as Puck. Only Puck should be MSD, really... Sorry, my mind's wandering off down the garden path.

Yes! I think she'd be an amazing Oberon, and come on, most of us love her look so far. For everyone who wished Euclase was a girl, ta-dah! For everyone who didn't get Onyx (and possibly Ves), ta-dah! For everyone who's sick of WS, ta-dah!

Now to find out if she's a bird, a lizard-bird, or a gryphon... my sis hopes she's Isis.

Out of the few people I KNEW would know what I was talking about, you and Kurr were definitely 2 of them anyway! ::laughs::

I totally can't afford anything right now, but the new Souldoll Tarot Card doll looks like a little Puck, what with is weird apricot Skin and everything! xDD

But yeah, Galena seems kind of PERFECT for that character I've had in mind for a while.
Plus, I haven't seen her outfit yet, but it looks like it might look really nice next to the Cass human dress (which I have in a split for my Titania).. sooo.. I may be screwed!
Unless she ends up only looking good from THAT angle or something?

 

I hope she goes up for sale soon ... do the monthlies usually go up for sale on a Friday or on Monday? I hope its Friday,lol. This will be my first time ordering from Soom, themselves. I usually end up getting my girls second hand, but not this time!

They could, but they are most likely to put her up tomorrow night. They have a tendency to do it on Friday their time, right before closing.... then Jin Lee walks into ZILLIONS of messages on the Q&A. So my guess is tomorrow

Ok, I've only just tuned in now and while I think she looks pretty, to me, she looks as if she could be more violet skin like my Vesuvia than grey - just a possibility. I have both Euclase (grey) and Vesuvia (violet) and the first thing I thought was "uh-oh, another violet doll". Then I realised I can't justify another of the same skintone so I'm safe either way. Don't want to get anyone's hopes up or down, I'm sure we'll find out tomorrow or monday, but I'm wondering in the meantime (and going back for another look).

Edit: I went back and took another look - she's probably grey but it's really hard to tell with the lighting. I was thrown by her resemblance to the photos of the original Vesuvia who they put in a blonde wig as well. That's what's making me wonder. All grey skins so far have worn dark wigs to emphasise the skintone, only Vesuvia got a blonde one, but being Soom that probably means nothing.

 

I think she will have the legs of Euclas...my wallet is definitely save because I don´t like the bird/air theme much.
But I do love her pretty face!

 

I totally don't understand the commotion about negative comments.
Every self-conscious, mature artist is aware of the fact that he could have done better and open for critique! Or should be.
There is no way of pleasing everyone - ever. Soom, as a commercial company, is probably way to well aware of that.
So someone doesn't want to buy a gray doll and they express it, what's wrong with that? All you DoA people with the policy of "no critique" are way too touchy. Critique refines art. You can't improve if you don't receive critique. And as I do agree that some of those comments were not really constructive, it's still not a big deal.

Besides now that I think of it, I'm 80% sure she will have a color option as it would be a better business decision and Soom is there for money, after all.

Anyway, I looked at Aserath avatar and I realised what has been bumping around my brain concerning Galena: the new (to Western world) Aion game with their winged avatars!
Not sure how many of you are familiar with AION, but it's a korean MMORPG featuring winged and flying characters. There are two playable races: Eylos (light, white-skinned) and Asmodean (grey-skinned, with red-glowing eyes while using magic and their wings ending with a claw, I also think that their feet are clawed but I'm not sure about that).
The game is immensely popular and I think Soom might have based some of the concept on it.
It wouldn't be the first time, the Onyxes were also based - imho in 100%! - on annother korean game artwork, namely Shaiya.

If they would offer white skin, all one would need to have an Eylos character would be to not use (probable) bird feet, change eyes to something more pastel and voila! Eylos character! And Asmodean character is basically ready ^^

I mean, look at the screenie...

 

I think the point is that there are ways of saying things. Constructive criticsm and plain rudeness.

I hate grey dolls and would never buy one. What were you thinking Soom?
Or in the case of the Hati and Skoll comments, they look lepers EW.
This = rude and unnecessary.

However, saying things in a constructive manner like I like what you've done HERE and HERE but perhaps it would have been better if you'd trid THIS and THIS is very helpful to any artist, like you were saying.

Generally, the people who write the rude comments on Soom's site are just lashing out because Soom haven't done exactly what they wanted them to - though granted, some people do offer constructive criticsm in the RIGHT way, so I'm not just lumping everyone under RUDE here.
I mean, one of Soom's MDs this year I HATED, with a passion. The doll really bothered me for personal reasons and I knew I would never want that thing near me. ::laughs::
But there wasn't really one thing I could tell Soom would make the doll better, it was just that it didn't suit my own personal tastes, and therefore any critique I could have offered them would have been useless and probably just end up rude.

I'm exhausted after a busy day so perhaps I'm not making any sense.
I just really can't stand people being rude. As a musician and artist, I'm very sensitive to criticsm and always hope that people will approach their critique the right way.

Anyway back on topic, I can't wait for more pictures! Curious about this pearl/transparent resin that many people in the comments have assumed is there.
I HOPE it is there, but I'm not so sure anymore. x_x

I don't think she's gonna have transparent resin, but I think that she will have some pearl here and there (unless some light tricks are playing on me on that promo photo).

 

As I already have the transparent resin with Cuprit and Eliv, I'd be totally fine if Galena didn't have it. But I REALLLLLLLLY want some pearl resin!
It was the best part about Amber I thought, and I always hoped they'd try it again!
I'd be quite sad if those wings are just plain resin after all this!

Her wings definitely don't look like the same resin color as the rest of her.
There's a luminous glow (besides the photoshop "glow") that doesn't seem
like mere blushing. I loooooove her mouth too!! Soom really did a beautiful
job with her faceup. I'll die if people want to make her a boy though....
I neeeed to see her feet the suspense is almost too much for me.
I held off on buying 7 dolls because I kept thinking "Galena Galena!!"
Darn Soom and their mini layaway.

 

That's how I felt too... it's almost as if the wings look WS whereas her face is obviously GS or even purple, but definitely not WS.
Yes, there are photoshop effects that are creating the transparent look, but I really hope those wings actually are something different and exciting and I'm not just imagining it! xD

I was dreaming of Galena all year too, but Soom kept doing the opposite of what I wanted them to do on so many occasions, I'd assumed they were going to do the same this time and had given up all hope.
Of course, for once Soom actually DID do what I hoped for!!

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing the clothes too!
I hope they're extravegant and beautiful like Cass' clothes!!!
