Soom Monthly Doll November the Second Land: Galena - Deity Pitta

I see nothing wrong with Soom making another bird clawed MD. How many
hooved MDs have there been...and three in a row not counting the tinies.
So another bird style MD shouldn't set off any alarms about them being
stuck in a style or any accusations of merely recycling ideas and designs.
Which was one of the main comments when people (like me) were sad
that Sphaler wasn't our presumed grey unicorn. Feet are just feet though.
Galena is clearly all about her glorious resin (not feather, no bird died for
her beauty!! Yay!!) wings.

I don't think Galena and Cass "look" alike. I meant that they both have
realistic faces. Cass was the start of this. Amber and Cuprit both have
very fantasy styled features (which are perfectly lovely!) One of the things
said about Cass early on was that she didn't "look" like a Soom MD.

My only hope for Galena is that she has more slender feminine styled
feet (whatever they turn out to be) and I also hope that one day Soom
creates better joints for the fantasy parts. I still cringe when I see a
poor Amber forced into a life of either standing or lying down and
nothing in between.

 

OK, I'm intrigued by her. I'd love her to be a tough, fierce harpy or siren with a nose that isn't too slender.

Can't wait for full pictures, in the meantime I'll try not to let my expectations go completely out of control.

 

Hoping for more pics today (being Friday morning here, Southern Hemisphere time). Knowing Soom's past record, give it another 6-10 hours and there should be more, if not a complete listing in time for the weekend. (hoping anyway)

 

I'm hoping when i get back from work they'll have pic up. It would a happy thankgiving indeed if they put pics up!

 

hehe, if I remember correctly from my waiting in the Beyla/Bygg room, they ended up being released just on closing time for SOOM. Which I think worked out to be about 7pm ish Eastern Aust. time.

I'm expecting to see them up when I get home from work.

 

Yeah generally pictures/releases go through in the evening.
Well, it's currently 5:20am this side of the world, so I'd say that if Soom ARE going to give us more pictures or even release her today, it's going to be at least another 12hrs, though probably more!

I can't order just yet due to Japan being slower with releases, but I'd really like to see her and know asap if she's a must have or not.
If she's a must have, there's already a potential buyer for the doll I just put a feeler FS thread up on last night, so I'll just have to let that buyer have the doll, which I'd like to do sooner rather than later as I hate keeping people waiting.
Plus either way, I'm going to need at least a 1 month layaway on Galena as I simply don't have that kind of cash right now so, what does it matter if it takes me longer to order. xD

Wow, do I second this. As I adore our Amber, I hate that she has to be standing or laying down...

 

I love her, she's truly lovely. ...I feel like they're making a pun, because gallina means "chicken" in italian, but galena is an octohedronal crystal, lead sulfite or "blue lead" and is a blue-grey color.

I think Amber is amazingly beautiful. When I finally saw her in person, for a moment I regretted getting her.
However, I couldn't deal with my dolls not being able to SIT DOWN!
I have cats and ferrets, the cats especially being a problem when it comes to displaying dolls. It's not so much that they have any interest in the dolls themselves, they just like to jump and walk around/sleep wherever they like, which may be over dolls!
So my dolls have an entire closet shelf to themselves, that way they're safe.
The problem is, anything bigger than MSD size can't stand up in there! So Titania (Cuprit) has to sit down.

If Galena ended up being something similar, I'd definitely end up rethinking her, even if I loved her, which would be SAD!

 

You wouldn't want to just the human version if thats the case? You might run across some really cool fantasy feet later that you might want for her. I definitely can't this girl up ... I never ever got over Shadow Onyx ... Its been two years and I still regret not ordering her when she was at retail price.

 

I'll be honest and say I didn't read every page in this thread...lol But I think her face actually reminds me a bit of IO. Not sure what exactly..I do like her face quite a bit...if I have the money I might try to snag just her head and make her a boy. From what little else we can see so far, I'm not into the wings...and I bet she'll have bird feet...though I'd love to see her as a Sphinx, as mentioned. ^^

 

That is so funny because I immediately thought that she looked like IO too

 

She does resemble Io...and that's a good thing in my book. If she has the birdy feet I'm going to be highly tempted (although I could care less about the wings). I have a thing for talons the way some folks do for the hooves.

I actually love the gray skintone...I already have 2 gray cuties.

 

The suspense is killing me! But I'm so tired I don't think I can stay up 3-4 hours
more for her release, but I want to be here when all the excitement over her
breaks out Sphinx feet would be really interesting to see, I guess, I only
worry they would be really chubby, the main reason why I decided
against the babies...their toes looked like giant grubs to me

@ midnitestar7 I used to have 4 mischievous ferrets (long before
my life with these dolls) but can imagine what troubles can occur with
the two!! Ferrets are so much fun to watch but they get into EVERYTHING...
they always find a way

So...do I stay up for her unveiling and release even though I can't
get her until the end of her run (if even then)?

 

I really want to see if she had birdy feet! (I want those feet!) She's really pritty...like a harpy goddess!

 

I'm really looking forward to seeing the feet, but I think more than that I'm looking forward to seeing the dress and the overall colour scheme they've used for her.
Soom have a habit of making everything way too brown and neutral for my tastes sometimes, at least with the tinies.
It looks like Galena could be all reds and golds though, which would be FABULOUS.
Ideally I'd hope she has 2 outfits - 1 really skimpy kind of like Cuprits (but more extravegant) to show of her beautiful GS and that amazing pink blushing she's bound to have, then 1 more like Cass's human dress, but all in reds and golds with beads and sparkes! YUMMY! xD

 

I think her color schem looks more amber (Stone not doll) ish.... Orngey gold an black...egypty colors!

The beads in her headdress are red, which is where I got red from. But you're right, there's amber in there too!
We're definitely going to see golds and yellows. I'm hoping reds too.
Plus, the pitta bird has bright green too, so maybe we'll see some green!

I think I'd be happy with anything except BROWN. as long as it's really extreme and over the top. Simple clothes aren't nearly fun enough! xD

 

I think it would be cool if her wing tips were orngeish like topaz. (Err Topaz's hands and ears) or Green tips...
