Soom Monthly Doll October (Libra) the Third Land: Euclase - The last judgement

Oct 20, 2008

    1. This. Oooooh, Anubis is exactly what ran through my head when I first saw him, although the more I look at him, the more I lean towards the notion some people have mentioned of Osiris... which is so not good! Osiris is my favorite Egyptian God of all time! And Libra is my sign too.
      Craaaap. :doh
      -V

    2. If he actually has jackal legs I see him more as Wepwawet, who was seen as Anubis' son, who was also a jackal (also seen as a wolf by some, but research has claimed this to be incorrect). Wepwawet was often depicted as gray next to Anubis' black. I should know. I saw it at my local museum (and Wepwawet is a mythological and historical interest of mine). ^_~
Everyone can interpret him as they want to. I actually hope he has normal legs, but if it has to be jackal or bird, I hope they stick with the jackal. It seems they may have done it more with Anubis in mind, but we can all see him differently. >w< -excited- I can see all the different aspects with the wings, and feathers, and claws...I guess we have to wait and see who they had in mind most of all, not that we can't create what character we want!XD

    3. It's a good thing I know I wont have the money, or I'd be lost. x-x What a pretty boy. :sighs: The eaaaaaaaaaars get me. :stares:

    4. I'm hoping he does have animal legs- dunno why, I'm not buying him... But that would be cool!

I'm loving the outfit! Outfits have been my doom lately! I bought Kalix and Io's!! And I might be hunting for a spletter for this one!

    5. OMG OMG OMG OMG!!
They stuck with Libra and made it SIIINNNGG!! Granted, no awesometastic theme switch up, but YES!! Sooooo pretty... o.O

I'm actually really glad I don't have any money right now. XD

    6. If I get the outfit, I'd really only want the headdress. So if anyone wants to split, it's fine with me. Just know I'm doing layaway.

    7. just...holy crap wow. I was praying this month would be a girl I could live without. I dunno if I can pass on this one. He's truly stunning. I might have to bust out the layaway on him. *_* I do hope he's NS though.

    8. I'm really relieved that I don't like this fellow enough to buy him. I thought I was doomed, as I'm a Libra. Don't get me wrong, he's beautiful, and those ears, if they are his, are pure awesome. I really love how, if this has anything to do with Anubis, they incorporated the scales. But from what I can see, I'm not too fond of his face overall.

Besides, it's not like I have the money. : D

    9. i took one look at the boy, and already got his name :) there nothing i can complain about him, even his face up is lovely!

    10. have dolls ever been done in black? because he is ANUBUS, egyptian god (i think maybe) i love the idea of making non stricktly human dolls, def. not boring.

    11. He's.....he's...BEAUTIFUL.

      God I wish I could afford him ;_______;
And I'm a libra too! This makes me want him that much more.
      ugh ugh ugh.

    12. OMG... I think I'm soomed... (praying for birthday money)

I have a HUGE weakness for anything ancient Egyptian... and I love his opened eye head... ( I don't really like his closed head)

I'm hoping for the next pictures to maybe throw me off.... hopefully the November doll will be more my style... though Scorpio is going to have a claw like a crab.... so I think the Oct doll is for me.

I really hope he's not MA size... That's waaayyy too big and would be a good turn off.

I can't wait for the pictures!!

    13. Hes not Anubis, hes Osiris, the god that weighs a persons heart to see how good they lived their lives. ((since Libra is scales the weighing part makes sense))
One of the myths is that if you go to heaven wings come from your head, like a falcon ((so the wings, and the clawed hands))

I think it was a very cleaver idea ^_^ instead of staying with the constellation figures they went for a god.

    14. It could go either way. Anubis used the feather of Maat and the scales, so that could just be a representation. It could be Osiris, but I hope not.:sweat Much fonder of the Anubis aspect.
Either way, Egyptian stuff is just cool to have. Not like we can't change it into an Anubis character. :)

    15. Omg~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I'm broke T_______________T
I will have try a way to get the money,

    16. \

or he could be a mix between the two

    17. right now i love soom 120 days layaway, and dread t -.-, but i need to see the boy clothing to know what i'm keeping and what not.

    18. Wah, if they give him animal legs I might not be able to resist :D
I hope he's a super gem & comes in WS.
      -swoon-

    19. he is a supergem for sure, I just save the picture and take it to photoshop and increase the brightness.

    20. Osiris does not weigh the ba, or souls, of the dead, Anubis does. =^_^= Osiris waits to welcome the ba of the dead to the Field of Reeds, which is paradise. The ba must undergo many challenges of wit and learning in order to make it to the perfect place of rest... not all make it. Osiris rules over the Field of Reeds as pharaoh of the worthy dead. He is also god of fertility and the fecundity of the land, which is why he is often depicted with blue or black skin - blue/black were identified with Nile silt, which is the material that allowed Egypt to be so agriculturally lush. As such, Osiris is the 'father' of Egypt itself, being the material out of which it rises and flourishes... hence one of the most-worshipped and popular gods of the ancient world. Anubis acts the psychopomp of Egyptian myth, guiding the ba through the Trial of the Feather of Ma'at and to the first door of the underworld. He is also the guardian of the embalming rites. He is also blue/black, alluding to his connection with death and rebirth. Wepwawet was actually a sort of war god.... though non-violent, he functioned like Mercury in the Greek mythology... like a scout or messenger for pharaoh, always 'going ahead to assess the situation'. He was a fairly minor god, often called Anubis' son. He is grey or white skinned, which is what causes Egyptologists to debate over his jackal/wolf heritage. Jackals were never grey or white to Egyptians, while wolves were.

Sorry, I studied Egyptology in school. *L*

Which is why I am LUSTING FOR THIS DOLL.

*ahem* Personally I think Soom has taken a little bit of all of this and mashed it together to create a new, beautiful character. The ears, I think, are not meant to be wings but sort of like spaniel ears. Which to me is endearing!!! Yes, I'd love perked jackal ears as well, but the sweet, soft-looking long ears just.... do something a little extra for me. And I SO hope he has wolf legs!!!!!! I am torn on whether or not I want him to be grey or white, though. If he were available in tan, I would have to own him. I like grey and white, but can't say which I'd go for more....

But I will probably not be financially able to get him. =T_T= Heartbreaking.
