SOOM Monthly Doll September the Second Land: Sphaler - Millennium Mireu

Sep 21, 2009

    1. Second. I imagine it's the same artist.

fransyung - You can't even see the top of his head. Patience. :)

    2. i also thought of haku after a freind said to me dragon. before that though i thought chimera. *shrugs*

    3. I love those eyelashes. They're so delicate! I'm on the fence about the new picture, I think I liked the first one better, but I really shouldn't judge until they release the fullset and details...
      (hopefully soon!)

    4. You know, if it actually was the same mold every time, I might not groan seeing a comment almost identical to this left on their site.

      It isn't.

Same concept, no argument there. Same mold? No, it isn't, and I have three different hooved dolls they've done to compare close at hand and be able to say that. Beryl's and Sard's may be the same, I don't know -- but they, too, are different from the ones I have to compare.

Considering how many people were hounding them for months to make more hooved dolls, or re-release Beryl and Sard, I'd be the last one to blame them for making a bunch of them since that sure seemed to be what customers were clamoring for a handful of months ago.

    5. Ostritch I meant his face looks pudgy. It's actually kind of cute now, which is a very bad thing... XD

    6. Is it the dark eyeline pale eyelash combo that is a problem?
Cuz.... didn't Heliot had them? Actually, didn't quite a few dolls had them? Vesuvia I think did too?

    7. He has that Miho mouth thing going on on his lower half which is nice I have to say. But what would really look lovely is snow white eyelashes. I think he'd look stunning with them. :aheartbea

I posted the old pic on page 15 if anyone wants to see the first one. :)

    8. i was just reading the last few pages, seeing what 'gossip' i had missed :). you guys are (caps lock) so funny. sphaler is (caps lock) exactly the same doll that he was in the 'first' set of pics. soom is simply trying out a new 'way' of teasing. if you 'missed' the first 'set' of pics or you did not save them, then you only get to hear from your friends how 'great' or 'not great' the horns/outfit/hands were. the ears are "still" removable; they are like cass/topaz ears. they look like furry leaves :):) and are not going to magically be 'molded' to his head when he is released.

from the front, to me, he looks very heliot-like. but, of course, much of that impression is due to his face up. he is beautiful and zen like. i'm a hoofie wantywanter, so, i am still hoping he has hooves. even funny knarly scaly ones would probably make my day.

his outfit is probably going to be gorgeous, since he is a very important thunder god. even at a glance, i think it is evident that alot of thought was put into him. i also think that westerners are missing some of the 'full asian significance' of him. this, our 21st century, is 'the asian century', Sphaler is its herald. the wish for peace and prosperity is woven into the fiber of his being.

    9. whatt??????:x
Ok give some minute i'll come back with the pics..sorry....:(

      edit you can see it?

    10. I second Cat's everyone is so 'funny'. All they did was put up another pic. That's all. It's the same doll, the same, face, and the hands and horn's weren't prototypes- or else they wouldn't of been full, cast and painted resin. If I remember right this is not the first time Soom has changed teaser pics on us.

A lot of dolls change with angles. I was surprised to see his jaw line being so much like it is myself. I'm surprised everyone calls it pudge though. With the right face up that would be a good jaw line for a strong male figure. Plus two minuets of sanding would do away with it. I also agree it is one head with magnet- snap on- ears. I'm still up in the air about if it will be hooves or claws myself- so time to sit back and wait.

    11. Hahahaha this is what I was thinking too!
I spent ages staring at both pictures and then finally decided that they were the same damn doll. xD
Either they're trying to make everyone crazy for the fun of it, or they accidentally put up a shot that was too detailed for the first teaser (gave away most of his fantasy parts) and had to change it.
Whichever it is, I'm sure it's the same doll!

I still love him.. more and more. I'm close to saying I think he's the most beautiful male MD Soom has ever released just looking at his face.
More and more he's making me want him, even though I know it's just a big NO.
Will have to see how I feel about him when I see him in person. SPEAKING OF, I wonder when he's going to make it over here?

    12. so when do u think guys they are going to release more pics???? I can't wait:D

    13. Ditto!!! :)
      The worse i waiting.....;)
And what if soom put wrong pics instead of the one they shown on web site today.....it's a chance?:wiggle

    14. Actually on the news page its been updated, Soom said the first picture was the wrong one and was a prototype model so that's where the guessing is coming from if things will be different. XD

    15. soom are just having a bit of fun, the doll is the same on both pics!
take it with a pinch of salt :3

    16. IMO they just show up the wrong pics....:whee:
So now we know how he'll going to be....:)

    17. Same doll...I think this may have been one of those Engrish moments. They most likely just wanted the pictures to change over here when they changed on the site. Get people talking about the face, face-up and eyes instead of the optional parts.

    18. Actually, each of their hooved dolls has had a new and different leg mold...
      • Beryl had very pointy cloven hooves and fully jointed digitigrade legs
      • Sard had very pointy cloven hooves and fully jointed digitigrade legs in a larger size
      • Heliot had solid non-cloven hooves and fully jointed digitigrade legs
      • Amber had hooves that were deeply cloven, but the points were more rounded and very close together. (Just enough to slide a card through, really). Her legs are digitigrade, but one of the bends is fused instead of a joint
      • Glot and Glati were much smaller, with more rounded "cuter" hooves
      • Cuprit had cloven hooves with a shallow, rough groove and fully jointed digitigrade legs.

In addition, the "fur" parts that are sculpted above the hooves on each doll are actually different. So... though they have had a lot of hooved dolls, they aren't just re-using the same mold over and over again. I've had the opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison of Beryl, Heliot, and Amber... and each hoof/leg sculpt is very different.

That being said, I'd like to see a departure from the hooves nonetheless. ;)

And as for all the gossip and speculation... well, that's half the fun! And the message from Soom in the news post about the "prototype" is interesting. I suppose it is possible that the "new" teaser pic is a modified version of the head from the one we saw earlier. (Though they do appear to have been photographed in the same shoot and seem to have the same faceup.) ;) A few of the features (the lips mostly) do look a bit different, but that could be a case of camera angle too.
