SOOM Monthly Doll September the Second Land: Sphaler - Millennium Mireu

Sep 21, 2009

    1. nudge, nudge.

      Back on topic please. :abambi:

    2. Ah, I never really liked Soom heads anyway... though now I have a bit of a problem, since I'm not going to have a head to go with his body... maybe I'll just plonk my minimee head on him when he gets here..........

Do Soom monthlies generally pose well, by the way? I've looked around and seen some pretty terrific poses by the hooved dolls, but I don't think I've seen anything from the taloned ones?

    3. His face is really lovely, but the taloned legs do nothing for me, and also, his theme isn't grabbing me. I am safe this month!LOL

Those hands are quite lovely as well as his face.

    4. My Euclase does a pretty amazing crouch & I think he would do more if I went ahead and tightened his stringing. Those giant tripod feet help a lot with his balance.

    5. You should check out RiverKelpie's pictures. Her Euclase has great poses. :)

    6. Wow, you're right. Those are some awesome poses.

    7. Oh, *wow*! That's the hottest Euclase I've seen yet...and I thought the pics on the Soom site were amazing! *is now even more irritated she didn't know about Soom MDs back when he came out, so she could have gotten some grey resin taloned loveliness to make a pair*

    8. all i have to say to everyone who thinks he looks like a chicken... google "chinese dragon" and look through the images... looks like a dragon to me. :3

but anyways. hes amazing. im dying here trying to re-arrange finances to afford him. i really REALLY want him. I missed out on Euclase... AND a great after market layaway for him... but i think in the end i wouldnt have liked him as much as this one. So i really dont want to miss this boy. i wish a random check would fall in my lap!

Im trying to think of color schemes in the mean time.

    9. Have you guys asked Soom for some NS pictures? They did that will Topaz remember? Soom are very good with requests. Once I asked them if they had any pictures of the super gem girl body blushed and they replied no but took some pictures then and sent me them. They are so helpful!
Maybe if someone writes and says there are a lot of people curious to see him they may put some up.
Also I'm really glad to see this guy getting all this attention, he's turned out really popular. Not bad for a guy with diseased hands eh? ;)

    10. Anyone have an idea of the odds on finding him in full set on the aftermarket are? I know Cass is a rather small group and it is not expected that there will be that many full sets of her on the aftermarket. I have a feeling Sphaler will be a small group, but I’m not 100% sure of that. Despite the people that are disappointed with him, I do see that there are plenty of people smitten with him.

    11. I am not sure, its pretty early into the order period. I don't think he is as popular as Heliot and Chrom were though, those rooms were huge and fast filling. But, all it really takes is one person to not bond for them to show in the market place, but the prices will be more. I have decided that I'm better off paying Soom on layaway and waiting for him to ship, then paying almost 2xs his price on the aftermarket. But, I know its not always possible!

    12. I'm....I'm in complete love...a vain love at that...I can't come close to affording that lovely...

    13. I have a few basic questions about these Soom MDs which I hope someone can help me with. Do they come strung? What is body painting? Are the promo photos of Sphaler in cream white skin or normal skin?

Many thanks in advance for answers......

I am seriously considering him. If I get him, I won't be using his non human parts, these parts will be kept most likely never even opened. I only need him in human form.

    14. They do come strung, though usually with their human feet on. You have to put their special feet on yourself.

Body painting is blushing color onto joints and shadow areas over the entire body. In the case of MDs, this also includes the special feet and hands. (So, to get the doll as shown, you would have to get the body painting)

Sphaler is shown in cream white.

    15. stargazer --
The promos are in Cream White (normal skin is much, much darker -- see Chrom as an example of that), and body painting is body blushing -- the paint on his hooves, legs, ears, hands, etc. If you don't get it, his entire body and all pieces will be unpainted (faceup comes separate).
They come strung, as their human bodies. So if you want only his human body, you won't need to restring him at all!

If you aren't getting the dragon pieces, you can always split them off to someone who will actually use them and appriciate them rather than pack them away (especially, after reading your previous posts, you seem concerned about a doll being cared for in its full value). Lots of people (including myself) may be looking for only the non-human parts.

    16. Id say that theres a chance of finding him in the second hand market... i dont know about fullset though. you may have to play the hunting game of finding this piece here... and that piece over there.... i think its easier to buy him derict and sell the pieces you dont want or whatever after he arrives.

BTW i love your icon! Nausicaa is the best. :3

He will come strung in his human form most likely. (my Glot came strung as a human with her hooves wrapped up seperatly.) so if you wanted him as a dragon, youd have to remove the lower half of his legs and restring...it isnt hard to do.

That promo is totally Cream white with lots of photoshop to make it even whiter. the normal skin color is very close to Luts normal skin.

Body painting is all the coloring on all his parts, hands, feet or in his case claws, etc.

You can always sell his non-human parts. or make a split... and sell the bits to people who want them... they will probably sell like hot cakes. :3

    17. to answer your questions:

1)the dolls come strung, human head on the body with human limbs, the fantasy parts are packaged separately(loosely) within the box.

      2) body painting would be the blushing of the human body + any painting the
      fantasy parts require.

      3) the promo pics are of the cream white skin, the ones for chrom can give you an idea of what the normal skin looks like.

hope this helps and good luck with getting him!

      m.a.

    18. Hi Stargazer_i,
They do come strung, and without any of the options, they arrived blank, bald and eyeless. If you want a face up, you need to select that from the drop down menu, and body painting (brushing) is extra also. Soom has been sanding the outside seams (at least they did on my two blank Chrom's) but if you want the blushing, I would opt to get it. However, the sanding is expensive, and its mostly because they are doing the sanding on all the fantasy parts also, which if you aren't going to use would be a total waste. So, my suggestion would be to get him unblushed, and either sand him yourself, or send him to a artist that does that (I can recomend a very good body sander/blusher if you don't have someone you trust already)
You can also run a split, to where you sell the fantasy parts before you order him. If you keep them, the doll would be worth more for resell, and the parts "normally" sell for more if you sell them after you get the doll.
The sample doll is "creamy white" which is Soom's Beauty White. Chrom is Normal Skin, if you would like to see one to see the differences. Soom is getting better on their shipping schedual, but it is a very long wait for the dolls... I like to give people a heads up :D

    19. I imagine it would be tough to find the fullset.
Who has actually ordered Sphaler fullset? I have, but I have no intention of parting with him. ;) I have never sold a doll to date, as I usually have luck falling in love with dolls that work for me.
However, someone could not bond with him! If not, looks like getting parts piece by piece will be best. To me it seems like Sphaler isn't the most popular MD (not as popular as Heliot or Sard).

    20. Many thanks to the answers. I am glad they string him.....he could look different in normal skin. I am not in a hurry, I can wait for the shipping.
