SOOM Monthly Doll September the Second Land: Sphaler - Millennium Mireu

I haven't ordered him yet, am deciding if I need one or two of him.... and how to pay for it I think the WS with white hair, along with the precious metals in his default set make him a vererable old dragon, dispite his youthfulness. Kind of as they age, they bleach out, so the older dragons are lighter (this is just my personal theory/world view) But I don't go for WS normally, so I want mine to be a brash young dragon, with black hair and a near human face up... and he will have alot of color on his claws/scales, as well as a very vivid kimono. If I only get one, he will be a fire dragon, if I get two I will most likely have a fire and water dragon. If I was getting one of each skin type, I would have a NS with golds and lots of metalic shimmer as a Sun Dragon, and a WS one as a Moon Dragon, white hair, pale grey eyes, silver and black everywhere else. I like full sets, but part of the fun for me is taking and making the concept mine.

 

Meh. That's where are the fun is. Anyway, mine will be fullset, so no clothing worries. Besides, Dollmore Model clothes fit (at least some of them will).


I plan on keeping his dragon legs on most of the time anyway, as well as a certain outfit. He strikes me as a sort of 'Sesshoumaru' like character; he wears a specific outfit because it is part of who the character is. I have a feeling I'll be keeping him in his default because it's so beautiful. I have to get him a silk kimono eventually.
What about you guys? What clothing styles are you going for? I want more Oriental outfits, but I will get pants and coats and the like.

 

I really look forward to seeing what everyone does with him. I'm just getting his feet and hands, myself, and using them for a female dragon character I've already got in the works, but I have a feeling I may regret that choice when I start seeing owner photos. (Oh, to have infinite money...)

I really don't quite understand where all the complaining is coming from, though. I mean, his feet are obviously not chicken feet - they're eagle feet, just like they're supposed to be from the Asian mythology. The toes aren't shaped at all like chicken toes, and eagles have the same number of toes too if that's the issue. People have been clamoring for a dragon for ages and then when they get one they complain? If you don't like him just don't buy him, it's not like Soom is holding you at gunpoint for your money!

Then it occurred to me that people might have been somehow expecting a Western-style dragon... can't quite figure out why though since it's an Asian company, of course they'd do an Asian-style dragon...

BeckyE: I just saw your post - I have to say I think your idea sounds pretty fabulous. If you decide to go for it I look forward to lots of drooling over your dragon boy(s).

 

Ok i've carved and in the end i will get all dragon parts but ears....my idea is a Dragon demon, so a bit far away form the Soom concept.....i'll give him a bit of evyl halo....

 

This. The feet look exactly like the eagle claws/feet I've always seen Asian dragons illustrated with, and the horns as well. At the very least, they're the feet of some kind of predatory bird - not sure why everyone's mind is jumping specifically to chickens?

With the hooved demon dolls, Soom showed that they do like Western mythology for inspiration sometimes, because they went off the Western incubi/succubi and not the very different types of Asian demons. There were also fauns and unicorns--from the previous creatures I can see why some people were expecting a Western dragon! But it's different with dragons, the Western and Eastern versions are two conflicting versions of the same creature and it's very unsurprising that Soom preferred the Asian version (even doing the specific number of toes for Korean ones.)

I am glad he doesn't have the flowing whiskers Asian dragons also often have, sticking with flowing hair instead XD Large magnetic mustache? Interesting, but no thanks!...maybe we could stick his horns to his face.

 

Pity they probably wouldn't do a kitsune... now that I would love to see!

And now I would really be tempted to make a Sphaler with mustache. Not out of resin, I'd use synthetic hair instead, but a long droopy mustache might be fun! Like out of some fantasy martial arts flick.

 

Hmm...now I'm trying to think of how I would incorporate a whisker element into his faceup. Something very stylized...

 

He has this soft look to him. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but he is really awesome!!!

 

Hey. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but can the special feet from other MD's work on him, like the Cuprit or Heliot hooves?

 

No do not work, unless you keep only the claws/hooves and keep the original optional legs peaces, i mean you have amber hooves and you can put under the calf and knee of heliot....

Wow, if those are chiken feets, I sure as hell never wanna meet up with that chicken O_O

 

Any of the male MD's hooves/talons should be interchangable, the female gems will work too but only if you have the upper thighs to trade out also. The same works in reverse too, the dragon claws will work on a female if you put the male thighs on her.

I would LOVE to see a female fox, or even female wolf. That would be pretty cool too. :3 But Kitsune- amazing!

Haha, had some fun checking my Supergem body to see how to take it apart. Getting ready for the great leg switch in a few months when Sphaler gets home.

I would have loved a tail too... after all, the traditional Chinese/Korean/Japanese dragon is pretty much all tail, haha~ (And 5 claws instead of 4, but that's just me being picky about where my dragons come from.)

 

Uhmm Soom thinked about it but change idea, the vesuvia scorpio tail was massive and stunning, but maybe cast one as dragon tails was hard.....

I've finally caved in and been soomed by this really cute dragon. I managed to grab a head 8DD

And yes, I've got loads of plans for this guy! I've seen quite some Euclases and Sards being this modern handsome looking d00ds with fur wigs and such and I may plan to chuck one on this head!
