So it may not be a totally different ear... just like an add-on that goes on top of a normal human ear.

1. I think it's really transparent. I stand firm by that.

2. I also stand firm that it's NOT clip ons.

You're right, it's far too smoothe of a transition to be a clip on like Vega.

 

The thing with the ear (attaching to the curve) looks EXACTLY like how Last Song's ears attach =0

EDIT: Ah, see this is why one should read the last few posts before theirs before posting >.> Hmm, that *is* weird. The intersection at her jaw of the orange ear part and her face does look really smooth, but now that the stuff at the curve of her ear has been pointed out it really, really reminds me of the merman ears.

 

Yup, that's exactly the part I mean. hehehe You can even see the part going from the lobe to the jaw, above the vertical line, is distinctly different in resin texture, too. It's an almost definite, distinctive line, and so it just makes it even easier for me to believe it's a clip-on. hehehe I wanna see these ears sooooo bad! I hope they really are transparent! Even if I can't afford her, maybe eventually, someone will have those clip-on ears for sale on the marketplace that I can get! Eeeeeh!

 

YEAH! THAT'S how I mean they look like they attach! and the fact that they did it for Song makes it more believable that that's how they'll do it for Topaz! hehehe

Honestly, I think that's just a deep curve to the inside of the ear. I mean your own ear has it, maybe not so deep, but your ears aren't so long either.

See though? Comparing the ears, Vega's seam is really definite, but Topaz's is too smoothe and soft to be an attachment I think. Either way, we'll find out in a day or two more.

 

That's true, I did notice that, too. But at the same time, what you have to realize is that that image has been heavily photoshopped, so they might have lowered the focus on that part of the ear to make it seem more natural. Plus, in some of the places,the light passes through it differently then in the other areas.

They may be one-piece ears, and we'll all have our theories until we see if they are or not. I just hope that they're detachable. 'cause that'd give me hope that they really WERE transparent, where it would be harder to make just the eartips transparent on the entire head of a doll instead of just the earclips.

what I hadn't thought about, though, was that perhaps they poured clear resin into the ears when they were doing the casting, and then afterwards poured in the white resin. That could cause a bit of the transition from transparent to opaque, and make them all one solid piece. I'm just not sure how the two types of resin would interact with each other.

Either way, those ears, if they are transparent, are just AMAZING!

 

lol That's what I was thinking from the start. Resin bonds to resin, whether clear or opaque. And as for the transition, it looks like color was airbrushed onto the meeting point to smoothe it out. I SERIOUSLY Doubt that any smootheness was photoshopped into the image. The sparkles, yes, maybe enhancing of the light, yes, but they need an accurate representation of the real product, they wouldn't photoshop out seams on the doll itself. I mean it would be like photoshopping out the joints. It would be misrepresentation.

 

Yeah, that's true. But I didn't really think they'd photoshop the REAL images they were going to use for her. I just thought that perhaps since this was a teaser image, they might have photoshopped it up to make it more enticing and mysterious for us. hehehe I have no doubt when we see the real images, there'll be no doubt in our minds about what they're really like.

Though to tell the truth, my eyes are STILL bugging everytime I look at the Onyx girls. I swear, I thought it was a negatived imaged of one doll when I first saw it! Then I realized "OH SNAP! IT'S A GREY DOLL!!!" hahaha

And for the record, that's an interesting fact to know, the one about the two resins bonding. When I start casting my dolls, maybe I can do something about that...or...OH WAIT! MY PUCK'S WINGS CAN BE CLEAR RESIN! YAY! *blonde moment...should have thought of that before...*

 

lol You have to remember too though, the teaser image usually ends up being a cropped image from one of the real line-up. XD And yeah, the grey one threw me too, her pink cheeks seem so unreal on her grey skin that it looked like one of those black and white photos someone dyes. That in mind too, I think Topaz is going to be as magnificent as she seems and blow us all away. XD Crystal ears, really a part of her. It's gonna be awesome!

 

yeah, that's true. We'll just have to wait and see. Either way, she's going to be AMAZING! crystal ears are going to be GODLY to look at!!! Just sooo beautiful! hehehe lol yeah, that's what it looked like to me, too, a black and white that'd been colored! She'll just be soooo pretty!!! Too bad I won't have enough money for her.

 

XD I'm still praying hard I can wheedle at least a layaway out of my husband. She would make my fifth Soom. I'm so damn spoiled. ;_; But it would also mean I can't get Pipos Rooney or DoD Arie Hoho.

 

Haha yeaaaah, I don't ave a hubby to buy me dolls, and if I asked my mom or grandma for a doll, they'd laugh me out of the house. They already help me with enough, buying a doll for me would be out of the question, and that's been established for a long time, now. I'm waiting for christmas to come around, when me and my sister each get around 500 dollars, so that maybe I'll have enough to buy myself a doll, or maybe my first doll-head's body. >_> but yeah, buying a doll just because, especially one that expensive, just wouldn't be something my family could afford to do for me.

Well...my grandma MIGHT be able to...but...she's sorta greedy with her money, and just the bit she helps me out with already gets lorded over my head every chance she gets. And she thinks our dolls are stupid and immature. PFFTAHAHAHAHA...stupid *bleep*...spends hundreds of dollars a whack to go to the casino, sometimes more then once a year...and paying that much for a beautiful, amazing work of art like this is immature and stupid...riiiight...

 

lol My mom is EXACTLY like that too. She whines that she doesn't know what she's going to do when the payments for my Dad's old veterinary clinic stop coming, nevermind that she has some money saved too, yet she spends so much at the casinos too. And OMG, if we ever need any kind of help because things go wrong, she holds it over me forever. I'm just glad my hubby has a really good job, especially since I can't work myself. I should be on disability, but healthwise I can't afford the fight that it takes to gain it. ANYWAYS! What I'm really hoping is that she turns out to be a regular gem. I would love a doll that size and it would be cheaper.

 

haha yeah, people like that are so irritating aren't they??? I'll admit, I use much more money then I can make in a month, and it ends up getting carried over to them needing to help me, but yeah...when I only get paid about 200 a paycheck every two weeks and I drive about 90-100 miles a day for work and school - every day - and have phone and credit card bills...yeah...200 dollars doesn't pay for ANYTHING... But I'm hoping that soon it'll get better. *shrugs* I can't wait to be out of college.

Oooh, yeah, if she was a normal gem, that'd be cool. She'd be cheaper, so you wouldn't have to pay as much as Last Song was or something. hahaha

 

LMFAO! yeah, if I'd had the money, Last Song Vega would SO have been mine, full set and everything! Especially since I love mermen, the color blue makes me feel orgasmic, and March is my birth month! He was, like, EVERYTHING I love rolled into one!!!!!

 

I knooooooooow! I so wish I could have gotten him! I have an elf Sabik (I only wish his ears were long like Topaz's, it'd be perfect for the character he is), and I got Beryl, Sard and waiting on Io, I'm adding the jointed hands to my order for him. Soon as I have money that is. I have to say, Soom is REALLY awesome about helping you get your dolls. I was still paying off Beryl and couldn't afford adding Sard on to my payments per month, so I asked them for a special payment plan and they oblidged. So I paid off Beryl quicker and put down a tiny payment per month on Sard and then paid him off. Soom has very quickly become the top of my favorite companies.
