1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Monthly Doll September (Virgo) the Third Land: Topaz - Honey Dew

Sep 19, 2008

    1. When I met my first Super Gem in person, I came to the conclusion I didn't particularly care for her older physique. But in Topaz's case, I absolutely fell head over heels over her face and all her fairy options, so the body isn't a factor anymore. In fact, the body "fits" the fairy image in my head.
The bottom line is if you like Topaz and it doesn't break your piggybank, get her. But if you have doubts, you probably shouldn't. There will always be other bjds in the future that will capture your imagination. You're absolutely right, it's a lot of money and you need to be happy with your doll choice when you're ready to spend your hard earned dollars.

    2. muhahaha she in layaway, and only ten days left on her sale...meaning in about three week or longer we'll get to see the teaser >.>

    3. Topaz Honey Dew rules, she is the IT faerie!

    4. I already have plans for my Topaz faerie. She will be a four seasons faerie, but I am still working on her name and story. What is everyone else doing with their faerie?

    5. Someone posted a link to pictures of Topaz without the photoshop effects. I would really like to see these pictures again, but I cannot find the link anymore in this thread.

Does someone know where I can find these pictures?

    6. Here's a link to the pictures. ;)

    7. To Fereshteh: My Dia stands fine, and I haven't sueded her, only tightened her strings A LOT. And I put KIPS in her arms, but that's about it. I think she's a wonderful poser, and once you know how to work her, she looks graceful whether standing or sitting.

Only posing problem I have: her boobs are so big, SHE CAN'T HUG HER BOYFRIEND!!! T.T

    8. Plans for dolls in terms of background and character can be touched upon in the Waiting Room threads, or they can be spelled out in a Database thread but that's a bout it. Characters are not supposed to be a topic for the board in general I'm afraid.

And a reminder! Please do not make requests for splits, trades or sales of parts in the Discussion forums. Please take that to the Marketplace!

    9. I don't know if she comes with good quality Soom eyes? What are they made of?

I was looking at the Enchanted doll eyes website earlier today, and thought these could replace her stock eyes if one didn't want to use them (the company also makes pupiless eyes - I can't figure if Topaz's eyes are pupiless or not):

      or these:

      What do you think?

Also, I'm still waiting for an experienced "layawayer" to guide me through the process... in case I do cave in. :sweat

I just read on Soom that if you pay with a layaway, it can take 15-30 open days after you finish payment for them to ship your doll. This sucks a little, but at the same time, it's more fair to those who paid upfront.

If I decided, for example after 2 months of a 3 months layaway, that I suddenly wanted to finish paying for Topaz, could I do it? Or do I have to continue following the schedule?

Also, I can't help but keep thinking about that Soom doll which arrived to the owner with stains on her headcap and forehead, and chipped nail polish... I would be so sad if she came home with broken parts or a ruined faceup.

Talking about faceups, if you have a Soom defaulf faceup, what do you think of it? I was thinking of maybe buying my Topaz (gosh... listen to me... "my" Topaz) without a faceup and getting it done by an artist while I would do the blushing on her.

Most of you seem to say that Soom are very reliable and a trustworthy. I have never dealt with them (only Luts, Bluefairy and Latidoll). What do you think?

Sorry for the looooooonnng post, if you are still reading this, here's a pieve of cake for you effort: :cake: Thank you in advance for your replies! :D

    10. Fereshteh: I have never bought on layaway before so have no idea. But I think I read that you can pay it off sooner, but not sure. Soom eyes are terrific! I quite like them. I've changed all but one of my dolls to Soom eyes. Really nice!

Those look nice as well. Are they silicone?

    11. Hey there! I understand your hesitancy about buying from an unknown (to you) company and setting up a layway. Topaz is my first Soom and layaway. Yes, the layway process does seem a bit confusing, but it's probably the translation...*grin*

We know Topaz's price is high enough that you may choose either a 60 day or 120 day layaway.
For a 60 day layaway, 3 payments. Divide your total price, including shipping cost into 3. e.g. $1000/3 = $333.33
1st payment: at about the time you create the order. I think someone said that you have one week to pay, but I personally paid almost immediately after creating the order.
      2nd payment: 30 days after
3rd and final payment: 60 days after

Same timing for 120 days, except two additional payments. Divide your total price, including shipping into 5. e.g. $1000/5 = $200.00

This is what happened to me after I initially ordered Topaz. I am paying via Paypal. Soom sent an invoce to my email addy. The invoice shows my order number and the total dollars owed. I clicked on the Paypal link but found I could not change the dollar amount. I could have paid for her in her entirety, but decided to pay on a 120 day laway. So instead, I sent a separate payment, complete with my order number and stating this was my first payment for a 120 day lawaway.

I followed up and posted a note to Jane on Soom's Q&A with the same information and she confirmed receipt of my payment.

Yes, you may pay in full earlier if you so decide. I don't know how much longer it would take before they actually ship the doll. I want my girl to arrive sometime in January so I'll have to calculate backwards and time my final payment accordingly. I'm estimating I'll have to complete my payments by the 2nd week of December. It might be a crapshoot when shipping will take place, so I know I'll just have to be flexable.

As for stains or damage, that's another unknown. Sometimes it happens. But mostly, dolls arrive in good condition. *knocks wood*

I asked for Topaz and the whole enchilada. Personally, the faceup is a bit subtle for me, but that can be enhanced with a little blushing. A totally blank face is still daunting for me. Besides, when I open the box, I think I get a better appreciation if she has a face looking at me. lol!

I know several people who love Soom and own multiples of their dolls; as a company it sounds it's really a good one to deal with.

      Good luck on your decision.:cake:

    12. I love Soom!! Their eyes are wonderful....I have several of their dolls including Neverending Dream Beryl, Kyrie..I also had a Smokey Day Gena with default faceup {flawless may I add!} and a Minigem....

I think they are very attentive to service and if there is a problem they fix it right away.. I ordered my Beryl blank and then added the fullset for someone else that wanted it, when she arrived everthing was except her outfit, I contacted them, they asked me to make sure and look through out the whole box, which i did...it wasn't there, within a day they sent another outfit to me EMS {they paid} and made it right.

Soom is one of the best companies out there IMHO.

    13. snowleopard ~ Thank you so much, now I only have to make my decision... (Only?)

The dolls company keep putting on the market so many beautiful, expensive, dolls for limited periods of time (oh, the fear of mission on a doll!)... Am I the only one who feels like they are encouraging us to impulse buy?

They are urethane (Enchanted doll eyes). I'll go on Soom's website tomorrow and, if she's not sold out yet, I'll educate myself about their layaway options. :)

This is reassuring to know. :sweat

    14. Topaz-Honey Dew is showing SOLD OUT on Soom now.

      Whah!
      .

    15. Oh dear, so she is showing up as sold out! That happened with Io and other monthly dolls too though, and they came back into stock again. Perhaps Soom puts a certain number into the shopping cart system, and has to manually "refill" it?

*crosses fingers she'll come back in stock like the others have*

    16. Really? Crosses fingers too.
      .

    17. I see it too! Hopefully for all the people who want one they restock!

    18. Noooooo! I was about to put in my order for her :(
Well... Soom is on vacation till Monday, hopefully they'll restock then.

    19. Oh no. . .I guess I don't have a chance of ordering her now ;_______;.

    20. What a surprise! Perhaps Soom "closed" Topaz because it is also trying to catch up on its orders?

Fereshteh: What a coincidence--I just bought a pair of the ED Milky #9 eyes.
