1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Monthly Doll September (Virgo) the Third Land: Topaz - Honey Dew

Sep 19, 2008

    1. Actually, SOOM's site says it was a glitch, and the orders put in were cancelled.

    2. So far only the orders that weren't paid for have been cancelled it seems. My friend got a Topaz and my husband got a Euclase and their orders haven't been cancelled yet or got an email notifying them of an impending cancellation either.

    3. I'm Mon's friend who got the Topaz, and yeah. My order hasn't been cancelled yet, in fact it sorta looks like they accepted the order. So I have no idea what's going on, but Paypal says they've accepted my money.

I fully expect to be refunded in the next week though, and if I'm not I'll email them and ask what's up. I can't say I won't be disappointed, but yeah. Such is life, hey?

But they have released dolls again after the order periods. My friend got a cancelled Amber a month after the order period, and Heliots came back in stock too. So this might have been the case but the amounts were wrong.

Who knows? Soom does, but I doubt they'll ever tell us the full story. Nor do they have to.

    4. Usually when a doll goes back up for sale, its because of a cancellation. And in that case they already have the doll made (or at least started) so they would take a loss if they didn't put it up for sale. I think there is some confusion about this because the girl who bought an Onyx a few months ago when Onyx popped back up, ordered a shadow Onyx when Soom had already made a light Onyx. So in her case, they had to cast one more shadow Onyx.

From their note, it sounds like in this case it was a computer glitch, where their website made it seem like these dolls where up for sale when they shouldn't have been. But from my understanding, Topaz and IO are already all shipped out, and who knows if they even have the molds for them anymore at this point...

Sorry for you guys who got your hopes up though, that's got to be really lame :(

    5. I believe what probably happened is they intended to put up a very limited amount of stock like they've done in the past based on cancellations and ended up putting up too many, hence the computer glitch as they said.
When I bought the Euclase last night it was sold out right after, so there couldn't have been many, may have only been the one, so it's entirely possible the stock was correct on that, but I remember hearing that there may have been as many as 20 Topaz put up, which for all we know may have just been a typo as they may have intended to simply put up 2. That's simply speculation though, who knows how their stock system works.

Anyway, the notice that they put up claiming that they don't sell out of the ordering periods obviously isn't strictly true in regards to cancelled orders as people have reportedly bought MDs before this way. I suspect they put that up simply because they had to cancel so many orders that they had to say something to calm down the people who'll doubtless be camping their page waiting for new stock.

Looking at the ordering periods for the Euclase and Topaz it's possible that they were cancellations on anything up to a 6 month laybuy (the maximum which Soom allows), but I've heard recently that people have missed their laybuy payments by several weeks and Soom haven't even mentioned it, so I suspect they're so busy with orders that the stock could have even come from a 4 or 5 month laybuy that they simply hadn't done anything about before they realised. While the IO is technically out of the 6 month period here for a cancelled laybuy, I believe this (perhaps unintentional) grace period could explain why he would be put up so late.

Anyway, I still haven't received any email from Soom like so many others have gotten telling me anything about my order, and the order status is still listed as "Order Received", so if I don't hear anything by some time next week I may have to send them a message to verify that the order is still good, but given they got onto all the others so quickly, I suspect anyone with a valid order still in now probably got the few that actually were intended to be put up for sale.
I'd say the few that actually were supposed to go up have gone to the people that ordered and then paid a deposit first.

    6. I asked them a question about my layaway on the message board and I got this from Soom

      Hello, thanks for contacting us.

We well received your order and payment for TOPAZ.
As you know that baasically it is not possible to get at the present.
But at this time, we have few of TOPAZ can release you are just lucky.

So I think that means the Topaz that were paid for are still good. I hope that means the same for your Euclase Brendon. :(

    7. I guess that means that mine is a no-go since I was going to pay today. :( Sad. . . Congrats to you, though, Catwalk!

    8. If your order is still good I would try! Who knows how many they have to 'release'!

    9. No, they cancelled it yesterday, and I have a feeling that might be why - or I might have jumped on her too late. There were two left still when I ordered, but I'm not sure how many there were to start with.

I have to keep telling myself that it's better for my finances this way! :sweat

    10. Ah that's great Brit, I figured that would basically be it.
KateWonder and I posted on their message board to verify our orders too, so hopefully we'll know soon, but given what you said I think we're in the same boat.
I actually think the Euclase that got restocked wasn't involved in the error at all since there may have only been the one (or at least very few), whereas there was way too many Topaz put up. :S

    11. Oh this is so hopeful! Brendon and I asked them what was up yesterday and they haven't replied. so... FINGERS CROSSED, HEY?

    12. Kate and I both just got confirmations that our orders were accepted. (my Euclase and her Topaz)
I heard that apparently there were only 2 Topaz available, so I believe they went to Britt and Kate.

    13. She's soooo pretty!! Sad I missed my chance to get her :(
