Soom Monthly (Zodiac) Doll Speculation thread '08 Part 2

will they stop the MDs after Capricorn? or start again with a new series?

 

I sure hope Soom continues with the MDs. Even though I can't afford all of them, it's been fun following this thread and reading all the imaginative possibilities offered by everyone!

 

They'll still do Monthly Dolls, I think. They just won't be doing the Zodiac anymore. They may switch up to a new theme to do a series on, or it may become a little more random.

I really hope personally Soom will repeat the same 12 dolls in different fullsets. That would be amazing if you ask me.

 

Agreed. Someone else mentioned an interesting idea of the chinese Zodiac as well that I wouldn't mind witnessing.

Although I think it's likely they will go into some different cycle now, I want them to go back to being *not* a cycle, like they were before ._. the new ones are great, but I have a soft spot for the oldest Soom monthlies... especially Uyoo Elf Sparkling Forever she is the *PERFECT* BJD, in my mind...just... if only she were SD size, if only ;_;

The advantage is they would go back to using special editions of standard molds, instead of entirely new ones >_> since Beryl's release, Soom has put a complete stop on new standards, wigs, clothing or silicon eye styles to focus on MDs ;_; If they go back to the old format, we can expect a gorgeous, creative doll every month with a cool theme (just not a new mold or option part) and Soom will actually have time to do other things XD they're going to need it, with an IRL shop apparently opening...

Soom really has a flare for creative science fiction, especially - like, the "futuristic android" theme that they used to have for mecha angels (when you clicked Mecha-Angels it used to lead to mechaangel.com, I don't know if it's still linked on the site... OH, did you guys KNOW there's a MECHA ANGEL MANGA?! 8D someone want to tell me what they're saying?) and the wedding dress set that has a band on the thigh for the bride to hold a sort of laser-thing in case she, er, needs to shoot people at the ceremony, and the amazing airshipman's uniform set they made...OH, and their fantasy outfits were awesome, too. Like the different releases of Uyoo elf in fantasy outfits... heh, I think I'd die of joy if, as a future variation-on-a-standard MD, they made 60cm Uyoo elf! Even normal Uyoo... oh that would be amazing

 

i think it would be awesome if they went to using standard molds with new intricate outfits for the monthlies, that way people wouldn't have to buy the monthlies just for the doll, & then end up selling away the outfit.

(and yes, i LOVE the mecha angel sci-fi concept. i'd love to see a whole year of nothing but sci-fi.)

 

Sci-fi... That would be so cool. O_O Moar robot-sabiks, I say! Oh yes, and on the subject of sci-fi dolls... someone mentioned they wanted to see Star Trek bjds? Search 'Puki Trek' on the forum and commence to die of cute and funny.

It is odd to think about how swiftly this year's worth of promotion has flown by. I really hope that Soom sucks for '09 though. Cause seriously, I have had enough anxiety and poverty for a while to come. *L*

 

Anybody else impressed to see that Soom has added another resin color to their list?! "Pearl Violet" It's such a pretty color!!! A pale pale lilac grey with a hint of shimmer to it even through the face-up. (not impressed by the rest of the doll, but that color!) Makes me hope that Saggitarius will be some awesome epic color for a horse body. Palamino gold? Chestnut red? Black?!

 

If they even do a horse body. I'm so totally worried that there's going to be a clash with Souldoll's upcoming Chiron - I hope it doesn't discourage SOOM from still doing a Centaur.

what's the horse with the lovely brown & white spotting, is that a pinto? something like that would be awesome. and i don't know if it's been discussed yet, but, if they did a centaur, it would be seriously neat if they made the tail exchangable. like tail wigs. haha.

 

If they are doing a centaur, I don't think that they would "discouraged" from releasing theirs. They must start work on these dolls ages in advance. An SD centaur must take ages to engineer properly. Souldoll might have taken a guess at what Soom was doing, and decided to try and beat them out with a four-legged beastie of their own.

 

I'd have to have the tiger MD if they did! They are my zodiac animal and I think the whole concept would be amazing!

 

The Chinese zodiac would totally kill me. *_______*

 

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask....but does anyone know if they have come out with an updated shipping schedule for dolls after Io? My roomies have some on order....and we have no idea when they might ship. ....thought you guys might know here...

*L* me too.... most likely the Dog, Dragon, and again, Horse. That's one problem with doing the chinese zodiac next... carry-over. Both Horse and Goat are likely to already have been predated by Beryl/Sard and whoever appears for Sagittarius this year.

But if they did it anyway? Yeah, that'd be a whole OTHER year of anxiety for me. *L*

What else do you think they might try?

Fairy Tales? The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, Beauty and the Beast, 1001 Arabian Nights tales, Sleeping Beauty and many others spring to mind as GORGEOUS fullset dolls. It'd be like if Disney weren't so kid-oriented. Can you imagine if they went for 'creepy' and instead used fractured fairy tales to inspire their dolls? Id have a very hard time resisting some of those. Oh, swoon!

Or maybe mythology? Gods and Goddesses of a particular culture, or many cultures. The Greek pantheon would translate into unbelievable dolls. Imagine Hephaestos and tell me you wouldn't wanna own a bit of that action. Or maybe Krishna, or Kali?? Or Bishamon, Amaterasu? Gah, too many gorgeous thoughts....

Or perhaps they will create a mythos, like Domuya has done with their Dirge of Glory limiteds. There is, of course, the Mecha Angel storyline and manga... maybe they'll finally put those dolls into concrete characters rather than releasing them as random special limiteds?

Speculating is nearly as much fun as playing with Soom's dolls. *L*

 

i basically caved and decided i couldnt wait for my first doll any longer. ill be ordering my first doll from luts in a few days

if soom makes a hooved doll (not a centaur, i like them but its to much for me) after i spent all my money ill pass out lol
