Soom Super Gem Dia

What an absolute waste for my coupon, I dont want to get her, though she's *Gorgeous*. But someone that really loves her could have had her in my place. Shoot!

 

I caved yesterday and ordered Dia. I was trying to be good, but I simply couldn't pass up the couple making discount. I really tried, but Patrice and chizzie_shark were evil and made me buy her!

 

Its a shame that there isn't a way for people who have coupons for Dia and don't want her to give the coupons to other people. If I hadn't so recently bought a doll from the market place I would have sought to strike a deal with a coupon owner and sent them money to buy Dia. :\ I totally have the money for her, but my mother would get angry if I bought another doll so soon. I only hoping that by Christmas Soom will be selling her head seperately, so I don't have to spend such big bucks on a body I don't want. x.x Blaah!

 

Angie: Like I've been suggesting on other threads (I'm on here way too much), if you buy her with your coupon, you could resell her on the Marketplace for a lower price than the Soom retail price, WHILST making back your shipping and then some. People would still be happy to buy her off you, I think, because she'll be much cheaper. You have 2 days to think on it!

I'd hate to see a half-price coupon go to waste when a lot of people really want her. Half-price rarely pops up in the BJD world. T.T

 

Angie: I agree with chizzie_shark about buying Dia and selling to someone who wants her. I have someone from the Soom Waiting thread who will buy Dia from me if I don't want her but she knows it is a long shot that I won't like her. So, if you buy her and you can even do so on layaway so you aren't putting out the money at once, someone will surely buy her and you can recoup your money and make a little as well. I've never seen an offer like Soom's before.

 

I'd be willing to buy Dia for a bit more than half price if someone wants to make a little money. PM me and we can talk.

I also posted in the BJD-opedia thread, pics from when I switched River and Liliana's heads. Might come in useful.

Overall evaluation: I find she is actually better made than my Spinel. Her arms are double-jointed I think, and she's an amazing poser; holds poses really well, and she's so graceful! When she falls she kind of...slides into a natural position. Spinel just collapses. T.T Her elbow joints also match up better, and her arms are heaven to work with (Spinel's won't stay straight, whereas Dia's are incredibly smooth to pose). Also, in details, she's a better made doll. I'm not sure if other Spinel owners get this, but my Spinel's headcap doesn't really fit the head perfectly, and there are rough edges around it and around his body...and I know it's small, but it's small things like that that determine better workmanship. Also, Dia's eyes are bevelled much better...River's eyes won't sit properly in his sockets, but Dia's fill the eyehole perfectly.

One thing though: she is VERY HARD to stand. Her left leg for some reason always twists out of its socket. And her bust is so big, as is her bum, that she always overbalances one way or the other. Her feet don't help, they're tiny. I've only managed to make her stand once so far. Will work on that.

Oh yeah, one other thing: she doesn't fit into any of the clothes I've bought her. I've tried Elfdoll, S&K, a blue laceup top, even a dress I scavenged off a porcelain doll. Nothing. Problem? Her bust is super big - and I mean, so big nothing fits. The only thing that's fit so far is a Chinese dress set I bought off a DoA member. T.T

 

Its nice to see her head fit on spinel's body, so I am sure that proportion wise she will look good on a souldoll body, now all I have to worry about is if it will match! I just wish I could find out NOW so I can stop worrying about it so much x___X

She is soooo beautiful and SO SO SO perfect for Dietre!!

i want the head because it would make one of my boy characters very well. sadly they do not sell just the head.

No. Kelly told me this week that they're working on her faceup and maybe by the end of the week but she's already told me that at least 3 other times since my first inquiry about her shipping on April 16. I sure hope she comes soon.

My Dia arrived a couple of days ago! YAY! I was relieved when I opened the box because I thought his head would be too big for the SD13 sized boy body I bought him, but it's almost the exact same size as my Miho's head.
I'll post a couple of pics here once his eye mods and faceup are complete.^_^ *loves new Montresor*

 

Ooh, thanks Morbidollz. I was curious about the proportions since I haven't actually seen my Dia yet. I cant wait to see your boy. What are you doing to the eyes?

Yeah, I was relieved when I opened the box because I guess I had over-dramatized the size of his head in my mind. xD I'm still not sure how he's going to fit on the body, but I'll find out soon since it should be shipped out next week or so.

About the mods; I wanted his top and bottom eyelids to look baggy, and his eyecreases to look a lot more embedded (I'm using Stuart Townsend as my model for that.:3). So I added apoxie today and I'm just waiting for it to dry. Tomorrow I'll do his faceup. :]

 

Oh yay! The head isnt too big? xD That was what I was thinking ever since I saw chizzie shark's Dia arrival.

I had been hoping you were getting a normal skin Dia, so I could ask if it matched souldoll resin enough to work with the supergem body, but you got a white skin. D'oh! Oh well.

 

I think her masculine features are kind of a highlight to her beauty... I'd put her in a short mohair wig and play on that. I am excited to see custom faceups. It'll be interesting to see how people highlight her cheeks.

 

I have fallen for the Dia Rose Queen. I adore dramatic make-up, and she is just what I've been thinking of.
I can't wait to see more photos of your different Dia's when they arrive. I know they'll all be lovely!
