Soom Super Gem Discussion (Basic, Limited & Special Order) - Part 13

After some calculating whether I can afford another layaway, I decided to order that powder blue Nephelin a couple of days ago (I've been pretty obsessed with blue dolls recently). It was also my first time ordering directly from Soom, and compared to some other companies they have really great system for paying the layaway - no need for a calculator, writing order references in Paypal message etc. - just click on the button for each payment... A little thing but defo helps with the ordering experience.

 

Congrats on the order! Ordering my Heliot was also my first time buying direct from Soom (I have several secondhand Soom dolls), but it went without a hitch.

I wonder if no one bought a pink thing last time, and that's why they've had two dolls wearing it?

 

@Layn : I agree, looks like a recycle/rehash of the last design. Although I think the sculpt itself is rather interesting... very mature lady. Personally, after dealing with a mini-bun they created... I shudder to think how hard it is to stand the big bunnies.

With the encouragement of my sweet friend @Cat ^..^ , I wanted to share my Heliot who just arrived last night. I'm truly afraid that the arrival of this boy has just made me want to continue to buy more of them.

Angelesk, he looks fabulous! The paint is just stunning. Look at how many "likes" he is getting!

 

@Angelesk : hehehe it always starts with "just one" Heliot~ He is absolutely gorgeous and I adore his head piece. Did he come with that, or is that from another set? It's just perfect for him.

Kinda kicking myself now seeing how beautiful that dusky gray resin. I already have 2 gray skin Heliots... how many does a girl need?!

The headpiece was an Ebay buy! And you (and now I) might need all of the Heliots, but I had been pining for one since the original release.
I DO think the next one I might need is a Sard though.

 

@Angelesk : What an amazing find! That headpiece is perfect for him! I can't wait to see more of his photos~ He's such a dream! and MMMM... yes I know they've re-released him a bunch of times, but I hope they give us another Sard re-release in another fun new resin color.

 

Oh I fully agree on another Sard release, he does need some cool colors.
Let's see, the original release was 2008, then they did a 2017 and then a 2019. I'm sure that they must have done events with him in between there, so let's just sprinkle that in. IF they do them every 2-3 years, CERTAINLY...we're due for another release.

 

Just popping in to see if anyone is interested in the current Red Riding Hood release? I’m probably going to grab her while I can, even though I already have one lol. She’s such an under rated sculpt! I don’t see her around very often.

 

Red Riding Hood is a lovely sculpt, but they did her no favours with the styling for this release. I’d love to see her done with a more mature look to suit her face.

 

Agreed! Not a big fan of the ruffled pink look either lol. Still, I feel like I’ve been waiting years for her to show up again so I’m excited

 

I just paid off my purple Beryl! I can't wait to get her in my hands, I have been waiting for years hoping for her to be released in this color!

Also, Red Riding Hood- good grief, the design team definitely did her dirty this time. I am baffled as to who they were marketing her too.

Surprisingly, I actually think Snow White is managing to rock the yellow frills (and yellow is probably my least favorite color). I definitely prefer the romantic fantasy head and the coral wig better, though.

 

The head parts on these frill outfits is actually a little horrifying. I don't know what it is about the lace covering the face that's making it like that for me. This whole theme is borderline infantilizing these very mature looking female dolls and it's kinda creepy to me??

Snow White is SO pretty she might throw off my plans. I've always admired her, but from a distance since she was so rare. Does anyone have her? I'm very curious how those little hooves stand.

 

Goodness gracious.... they are really loving their frills and gathering pleats in all these outfits. I appreciate a really frilly girl here and there but something about these outfits just screams... cheap. Perhaps they look different in person. I will agree the yellow one has been best out of the lot. The pink one is my least favorite.

@zomjirate : I'm glad you got Red! I'm sure she would look 10000% much better with your styling. Please share her when you get her!

@Littlebirdzoom : I'm curious how these girls stand as well. Those tiny dainty legs look like they might be a challenge, but I have all my Sooms on sturdy stands regardless. My Little Gem bunny boy has a heck of time standing. His legs kick so much, but wondering if that is just a Little Gem issue.

I hope I can at least do better than Soom’s styling here ^^’ She’s going o be the same character as my first RRH, but now she’ll have three heads so that I can have more looks for her ❤️ I got the dreaming head to so I can mod it into a sleeping one! I’m very excited! But she’s on layaway so it’ll be awhile lol. They’re layaway system is so much better now, it was a pain back in the old days.

 

Agreed! I much prefer the darker sets.

@zomjirate - congratulations!! Looking forward to see how you style her, the sculpt is wonderful but the clothes aren't doing her any favors
