Soom Super Gem Male Clothing Guide

Bumping this up with another question ^^;;

So, it was posted a few pages back or whatever that some of you had put a pair of Dollmore SD shoes/boots on your boys? Well, squeezed. XD

Would model boots fit...? I am interested in either of these two styles

or would they be /too/ big?

 

Damon: Those would be WAY too big, SG male feet are 8cm long, those model boots are 11cm, it'd be crazy overkill. I bought a pair of 8.5cm length SD Impdoll "Fletch" boots for mine from Denver Doll -http://www.denverdoll.com/impldollshoess.php, and they fit well/go on easily, so would hunt for shoes along that size.

But darn...is the 11cm the outer length or the inner length...? Model boys have size...9 feet, right? Guess I'll have to hunt down a similar style XP

 

Well, I've got a NS Chalco on the way *hopefully* soon, within a few months haha. I want to get him a realllly nice suit and I was thinking something Dollheart.. Would DH fit them? Where else could I get a really nice and exquisite looking suit. Dollmore, not so much.. Sorry if this one has already been asked :/

 

Clare: DH clothes are made for 60cm dolls, so it seems unlikely to me that anything they have would fit. From experience of trying to jam a female SG into their stuff, the chest measurement is just too big, and the arms/legs will be too long for something like a suit. However, take heart, I do believe they're endeavoring to develop stuff for 70cm dolls, so you may have hope yet.

SG guys don't fit very well at all in DH outfits, I'm afraid... Their arms and legs are too long and they're too broad across the shoulders.

Even SD13s are a pain to get into some of their clothes, so it didn't surprise me when nothing I tried on Rowan (regular SG bod-) or Vincent (long-legged Heliot bod-) really worked. They're sized more for Delfs than anything, i suspect.

 

Ah, well.. thanks for the info regardless! Saves me from spending so much on a DH outfit to not have it fit, appreciate it. I really do.

 

So.. 8-9 inch wigs fit them snugly. Would 9-10 wigs be way too big for them? Would a bit of velcro do the trick or will they just end up looking bobble-headed?

Man, finding clothing for my Chalco is turning out to be a quest of epic proportions. He wouldn't be caught dead in almost everything that would fit him! D8 *shakefist*

After going through this thread I've put together a little jotted-note list for myself as to what'll definitely/most likely fit SG boys. It's by no means complete ... but a lot of what's been discussed is here ((in no specific order)):

- Sadol SDF/SD17 tops/pants
- Tata's SD17 tops/pants
- Model M tops ((sleeves slightly too long))
- Leeke L shoes
- Diverse Designs 60cm pants
- Raphael SD17/13longleg tops/pants
- Model F/SDboy shoes
- Iplehouse YID pants/shoes
- Tous Les Garcons SG

As a side note ... don't blindly take my word for things, especially shoes and the like ... always check your measurements if possible! 8D

 

Raphael apparently supplies some of Impldoll's shoes, so thus Impstar shoes should also fit Soom SGs.

 

Super Senior Delf clothing from luts will fit them really well, right? The measurements aren't that far off, and i'm in need of more clothes for my Chalco for when he comes in...

 

@Clare Someone mentioned a while back that SSDF might not be the best choice, actually. Their shoulders are broader than a Hound's and their legs are longer as well, plus their waist is slightly bigger. People seem to have had generally good luck with SDF clothes - although keep in mind the sleeves will be a little short unless they're extra long to begin with. It's listed on Soom's clothing measurements as a fairly good choice, so I'd feel safer with SDF rather than SSDF.

In fact there's a neat thread that has naked photos of all the boys... and sd17 looks lanky just like the sg's.

I'm havnig the hardest time finding boots I like that'll fit my Chalco ... I'm looking for a pretty specific style and it's proving to be a nearly fruitless task. D8

I found these boots on Sunny's the other day ... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Sunnys-Wonderful...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item43958ed14e and while it seems the foot would fit, I questioned her about it and she said it wouldn't fit up his leg. :\ Verrry disappointing! Part of me wants to get them just to make sure, but maybe that would be stupid. :'D

 

Generally, I have found that SD16, SD17, & SDF sized clothing seems to be the best match so far. SD13 clothes sizes are usually too small in sleeve/shoulder/leg, unless the garment is loose-cut; sometimes certain clothes can work, but it's hit-and-miss. 70cm or SSDF clothes are usually too long & loose (but again that's OK if you like an oversized look). It sounds like the eBay sellers & small ateliers are making the best fitted SuperGem/SD17 clothes at the moment!

Mostly I find that PANTS are the hardest to get in odd sizes like this! It's hard enough to get high quality SD16/17 pants, without having to also shop for the Amazing Flat-Butt SuperGem. >_< But my only SuperGem is a hooved dude, so I don't think he'll worry about pants very often. Or shoes. Heck, I should just save myself a small fortune and keep him barehooved in a loincloth.

What did she mean, "it wouldn't fit up his leg"? Super Gem feet are only 8cm, so he should fit in those boots. And they're not going to be too long for his shins, his legs are long enough. I bet he could wear those.

My favorite combat-boot style for the 65+ size are those Mecha Angel sized laceups, they're gorgeous & worth the price. Soom also has SG sized ones with buckles, I see.

For boots I personally don't think there's any such thing as "too big". As long as the ankle/shin is covered up, you cannot see how small his foot is inside the boot! Since Super Gem guys have such small feet (compared to SD16 or SD17), I prefer slightly oversized boots on them anyway, to help them stand up.

But if it's a low shoe, or an ankle-boot that'll show his ankle, I wouldn't go oversized. He'd look silly. ^^ SuperGem can wear most of the SD13 shoes I have in my collection.... Especially Volks boots, which are often gunboat-sized (Volks guys have wide caveman feet).

 

I think what is meant by won't fit up the leg is that the zip won't do up because SG shins are too thick. It's happened to me before with a pair of Mimiwoo boots.

Dollmore model boots are definitely not too big! In fact, I prefer them because they make those tiny SG feet look proportional.

I know what I'm looking for and I've looked over the SG size recommendations pretty thoroughly. XD It was just frustrating finding one of the ONLY styles of boots I've managed to find in his size ... that ended up supposedly not fitting him because of his calves. Damn this boy for having such a specific style. Is it so hard for a store to make a pirate/sailor-style boot with the tops folded over? Apparently. D8

I just got a Chalco wig I ordered in a split and was so surprised that it wouldn't fit on any one of my 60cm dolls, it was too small:
DiM Andrea
Crobidoll Yeon Ho
Soom Chrom
Spiritdoll Echium

But, it fit almost perfectly on my MnF Chiwoo >.< Is Chalco's head really that tiny?!?! How tall is he?
Sorry if this is a wrong topic for this thread, I was just a bit shocked with the size of the wig and Chalco's / Super Gem proportions in general. Or is Chalco a Gem? I am so confused (Sorry, I'm a total Soom newb).

That is surprising, my Chalco wig fits all of my SD dolls just fine...
