SOOM's Monthly doll for August (Leo): IO Wind Walker DISCUSSION

Don't know if anybody else has posted this, but I think I figured out the way the genders may be running with Soom since they switched up what we had all thought was going to happen.

Look at the number of days in a months, how all of them either have 30 or 31 days, except for february of course. But, July and August both have 31 days! I guess that Soom is going by the numbers of days in the month.

 

It could just be a giant coincidence and they're just having fun with whatever they get ideas for too. It sure does make for some good speculation though.

 

I think they're probably sitting there laughing at us trying to ascribe significant patterns to everything.
You gotta keep people on their toes if you want to keep their attention.

The navel is a definite giveaway of the SuperGem body type, besides him being much too beefy for a Mecha Angel. I SURE would've loved to see this one in Tan, though! Not only because I think SuperGems would look delizioso in tan, but also because...

Exactly that... there's no lions in North America, and he doesn't quiiite pass for African without so much as a tan. ^^ But, this being Fantasy Zodiac World, I really wouldn't nitpick too much. He is your basic everyday Hunky Savage Man[tm], and that is always nice. Om nom nom nom.

But sadly I will have to resist this one, too. Make me a fiery tan Mecha Angel to sit next to my chilly blue merman, and then we'll talk about knocking out my last remaining wall so that I can fit another Zodiac in the house.

 

There are actually lions in North America! ;D Mountain Lions, or Cougars. :3 Just not African Lions, like the headdress on this doll suggests. X3 But we do have lions!

Also, that picture, Jenny, that you posted. X3 OM NOM NOM indeed! Hottt.

All this talk of a tan super gem is making me wish more and more that this boy was a nice, dark resin. *whine*

 

You know...his clothing/head dress doesn't really look like it's trying to be Native American or African to me...more like European prehistoric tribal...they did have lions in Europe at one time, after all...

 

right we have mountain lions and cougars but no african lions. i would associate native american more with bears or buffalo but either way he is pretty cool.

I think he would have been awesome in tan resin, but I'm not complaining.

He does remind me of Rex's younger brother which makes me uber happy. The head to me also looks like a new sculpt, however inspired by another of theirs.

I kind of wish he'd turn around. I'm half expecting to see cat-spots or stripes along his back or maybe a pattern down his legs. I think cat-spots would be hot!

 

Oh god, his face *melts* Ive managed to resist so far, just, and thought leo would be an easy one since i dont feel the need for a cat girl. But his face is just GORGEOUS. I cant wait to see more pics :

 

Cat spots or stripes that go all the way down those big muscular flanks! Aww, I sure hope so. Hoo boy.

Well yeah, of course we have cougars + pumas and suchlike! But I meant the big alpha mane-y kind. Y'know, like, for headdresses? Big flowing golden mane? Lion guys are all about the hair. Male vanity. Rawr. Of course, this dude has straight long brown braids for hair, instead of his own mane. But we'll let that slide. ^^

Big leonine blonde guys that might've also worked for inspiration include Ron Perlman as the Beast (with OR without makeup, really!), and young-version James Hetfield of Metallica. Alla that hair! XD And I confess, I WAS kind of expecting a more heavy-featured, manly, leonine face for this guy.... more like Spinel & Lupin? Io surprised me with this pretty face, looking like Saiph & Rex's love-child. Rather soft and sweet, for such a fierce creature.

I know, right?: Tan resin. The final frontier. C'mon, Soom, surprise me again!

He's jungly. Not really Native American, or African plains, but the whole necklace thing and all seems more jungly to me. Lion is, after all, King of the Jungle.

 

I need him to be my own Scar. I'm selling three of my other dolls to buy him ... I hope it will be ok.
He strongly reminds me the Broadway musical too (I have seen it in France 3).

I agree with the tan comment. Cannot go wrong with tan...and long black hair...and leather. Purrrr

I could and should wip up Wild Rock cosplay outfits for Bastian and Shilo. They're more based (I bought them because their faces matched) on Man's Best friend. but it's close enough...and basically the same type of relationship.

 

XD Native American. I don't think so. And even if he's not tan, I'm pretty sure they were aiming for an African theme.

Anyhoo, he looks amazing. lol Everyone thought he was gonna be a girl XDDD

 

Has there been any speculation on what mold he is yet? I heard from someone that Soom was going to do another unique mold, I wonder if it is this guy? if so I am screwed, thank you Soom.

I do think Bix is a Lazule since I have one and have worked on one now but I am not sure of this boy.

God, I can't wait to get my mits on this boy. Him and a Lazule are going on layaway PRONTO.

 

gah.....layaway is a killler! but it only a few hours left before we see more! I'll wait two week to father up cash, then into layaway he'll go!

That's interesting. If that's true then Libra, Sag, and Capricorn would all be boys (yeah! ) and Virgo and Scorpio would be girls. Although I would have loved a Scorpio boy quite well.

As for this doll I think he is amazing! I was expecting a Leo male that had something mane-like. I would have actually been suprised if Leo had been female. This is the first of their dolls since Vega Last Song that I like the whole set. The face is really adorable too. I really like the head sculpt. It looks so sweet under that bid mask! I am curious to see how much he will be. Oynx only had an extra head and was $612, the others had animal legs and arm, and so were more.......
