Sooms new Elemental Babies! (Speculation)

They are really cute I wonder if they will come with a extra head, or if we have to chose horn/plain heads?

 

I am going to miss out on hooves for this month, and it looks like the next (if he is hoof'ed) - but I hope, pray, wish, and anticipate little antlers and hooves in time for Christmas / the holidays and have two little fauns to be the december monthly! Oh please!!!

I will cry if they are kitties. I'm hoping they will follow the wintery deer/faun theme like with Amber. December would be Saggitarius, hooves, right? The archer? Even cuter if they came with little bows and arrows, which would link them to the Native American theme of Io. I really hope Io turns out to be the odd man out. I would LOVE to see two little fauns and a stag. Otherwise my bank account will breathe a sigh of relief and I can't have that.

 

I've thought about this a lot. So much obsessing!

All right, so Io came in two colors, and Amber came in one. I think they will split the diff on that, and both babies will be white/cream skin in tone. Io was offered in white, so I think they'll go that route. Alternatively they could be clever like they were this month, and offer two cuties in neutral gender, one white-skinned and one nude.

Now onto the really hard part. So Io was a predatory hunting-kitty type, and he was pretty popular, I'd read, in Japan. That's an important market not represented in DOA, we do need to consider the world doesn't revolve around us. The flip side of the coin is Amber, hooved and she sold very well here at least.

So, will they really release 9 hooved dolls in 'year 2009'? That would mean an astounding half the monthlies for this year were hooved. If hooves sell that well, then they're going to do that, and if they're going to argue Glot/Glati = bull, Bygg/Beyla = horse and Afi/Ai = deer, these are all different critters who happen to be hooved.

On the other hand, while the tiny wolves didn't sell well (here), Chrom did. Adding a kitty-god to the mix would be better than having two hooved gods, right? So we would have hooved goddess, fishy goddess, bird goddess (probably), wolf god, hooved god (the odds are) and a kitty god.

So if they are going for the money, I say hooves and Amber's lovely aspect. If they are going for the theme, then kitty and Io's dashing aspect. Personally, I'm good either way, but if we're looking at Norse mythology, it may comfort you to think that they don't have any cats in it.

Now see? I think about this waaaaaay too much, and it never gets me anywhere!

The agonizing part about it is how long there is left to speculate on the December babies!

 

I sort of doubt they'll have MORE hooved tinies, since so far 2/6 sets so far already have been hooved. And next month's big boy is likely to be hooved too, if Soom keeps up the pattern of having the dolls from each element "match". So only a two month break between hooved dolls? I dunno. I think Cuprit may have taught Soom that too many hooves does not make for good sales -- some people may have loved her, but Cuprit wasn't that popular and at the time so many people were disappointed by the lack of variety. But . . . you never know!

heidipay, I really enjoyed reading your speculations! I do think that a feline theme is a good possibility for the Earth element. I bet Soom could think of some ways to improve their idea of a pawed tiny, too, if they wanted to boost popularity compared to Hati & Skoll.

And I guess our best guess for the Air tinies is birdies? Oh, I hope that's what they are. I have no desire for a bird-footed dollie and my wallet could really use a break from being Soomed. xD

 

They don't necessarily follow the larger dolls. People were disappointed that Vesuvia didn't get a mini doll. Cuprit wasn't as popular but she still got quite a few buyers. There's still a lot of demand for a tiny hooved doll so I think we could see another lot. The resale value is high on the glots and glatis at present, but will probably die down now that these are released. I'm fairly certain we'll see a hawk version to match euclase. I'm kinda hoping for a dragon version with that, but it's hard to say. I like the faces on the current two best of them all so far. I'd still like to see a mini scorpion whether she's in violet resin or not.

 

Oh wow, if there is a miniature hawk, I GUARANTEE I will be Soomed. I was close to wanting Bygg, but I held myself back. I wish I had gotten Skoll. >< Oh well, we'll see what else comes out!

 

Hey, I recall seeing this open question, but finally went to see the reply. Someone asked if Bygg's colour resin was the same as Euclase' and Jin Lee's reply was:


Bygg is the little baby version doll of Euclase, the resin color is same as the Euclase.


Now, I know I'm reading too much into this, but it would be nice if Jin Lee made a mistake and just told us there WILL be a grey baby Euclase coming up!

I think I'm going to be royally 'soomed' for all these coming months..

Don't be confused! Bygg and Beyla are associated with Onyx and Heliot!

The next tinies will be Topaz/Euclase babies. But the pattern I've mostly seen is the teenie gems are baby sizes of the God that follows in the next month.

But yes, Io WAS the most popular male doll last year in Japan. The most popular female doll was Topaz.
Japan generally just prefers the cuter dolls (all the tinies are selling well here, unlike Hati&Skoll or Eliv&Iv who didn't sell so well on DoA) and the beautiful dolls, whereas the west goes crazy for the darker themed or weirder dolls - everyone seems to want Beryl and Sard!

So far this new series we've had Cuprit and Chrom who seem targeted to the Western fans, then Cass seems more suited to the Japanese fans. 3 more gods to go so I wonder if 2 will be more beautiful and 1 will have a darker edge (probably Air being that Euclase is one of the gods!)
This is entirely speculation mind you!

So basically yes, Soom could go the money making route in the west and do the hooves thing, focusing more on Amber and perhaps bringing in some pearl resin, or they could go the money making route in Japan and make cute little kittens!
I know I'd love kittens, as I have 2 cats and am just CAT MAD, but I wouldn't say no to a little pearl resin fawn with antlers either!

 

Oh and yes, it seems like birdies will be happening. That's what the Soom lady thinks anyway! - they don't tell her much, so whether she's been told this or it's just her own speculation I'm not sure.
But I think Soom would be insane NOT to make birdies!! So many people would buy them!

Personally for me, if they do birds = MINE.
If they do fairies = MINE.
Either way, unless the heads are REALLY not my thing, one of them will be mine xD

I'm really confused about the Grey Bygg being Euclase's mini version. I really hope that doesn't mean we won't see tiny bird feet. I'm waiting patiently over here
so I really hope that was a mistype too.

 

I really hope the next babies don't appeal to me as I'm pretty sure the last 1s will, as I predict we will be seeing lil Ambers ^_^
Birds would be so cute (not my thing, but cute!) If they are more closely based on Topaz I may be in trouble :S So lets hope for birds!

 

Isn't it figured that Bygg was the mini of Sooms next MD, a grey skinned
male unicorn being as Beyla was a mini of Heliot. That's what I presumed.
Anyhow, that's what the speculation is over in the other spec room

 

Hmm, I always just thought that Beyla was mini Heliot and Bygg was baby grey Onyx.
Having them in grey and white also links them to Onyx, as she came in grey and white.

I do think that the air tinies might do something different, in that they'll take PARTS of both Euclase and Topaz.
For example, if they decide to make birdies to match Euclase, then they might be birdies with transparent resin parts to match Topaz.

The difficult thing to predict is the clothing.
With Glot and Glati and Hati and Skoll, we had pretty much replicates of the MDs they're linked too. Then with Eliv and Iv, they created something totally different that didn't really link to Vega or Deneb's clothing.
Bygg and Beyla have costumes like Heliot and Onyx also.
The thing is thoughtt hat so far, the overall style of outfits of the bigger MDs have been similar in tone. Similar fabrics or whatever.
Topaz and Euclase are just SO DIFFERENT. One is light and sparkly and the other is dark and quite evil!
Are they going to go the darker Euclase route, perhaps appealing more to the western fans, or are they going to go the lighter Topaz route, appealing to the Japanese fans?

I'm afraid, but also hoping for more gray tinies. I am unsure what the chances are of that?

I am thinking the next large doll will possibly be gray, then the Air tinies could possibly be gray because of Euclase - which makes me hopeful since Jin Lee said Bygg was the baby version of Euclase, making me oddly hope he alluded by accident to there being a baby version of Euclase in gray coming up. Then there is that large Air doll, Galena which could possibly be a gray resin fairy.

 

They definitely could do that!

Ideally, I'd love to see them straight out make a baby Topaz and a baby Euclase.
A little chubby chibi Topaz with transparent hands and feet, the same giant wig and dress.. arghhhh it would be to die for!
And honestly, a baby Euclase might might me get my very first boy doll and just ignore the genital region and find a way to make him a girl! xD
Big Euclase was too manly for me as I don't go for boy dolls, but I think a tiny could be passed as a girl (like Beyla and Bygg which are gender neutral) easily!
I might even be happy with a chibi Euclase as a boy, you never know!
Saying that though, if they did this I'd probably have to have BOTH OF THEM!!!

It's unlike they will though as so far they've found a way to keep all the fantasy parts identical with each of the teenies.
It seems like they'll go for some kind of bird, then maybe we'll get a bird in Topaz-esque clothing and another in Euclase-esque clothing.
OR they could do a Vega+Deneb --> Eliv+Iv thing and just come up with something completely different that relates to the god of the element, not the previous MDs.

Can you tell I've been looking forward to the air teenies for MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS?!?! xDD
