SoulDoll Soul-Double Discussion

Jun 15, 2010

    1. Thank you : ) Outfit is done by me and I got the shoes from Angell-Studio -> http://www.angell-studio.com/en/?gallery-119-grid.html <-

Not all of them fit but those which do are "tight" but useable : ) (My partner has brown polka dot high-heels (page 2 or 3) from the same shop and they're just too long for the doublebody's high-heel-feet U___U)

    2. sorry to double post but can I request pictures of your Souldoll girls? : )

I took small photoshoot of Akahi and I should get back to sewing. Today just doesn't seem to be my day for it x'D

    3. I saw the Soul Doll double boy body comparison someone posted, but I was wondering if anyone could post a comparison between the Soul Doll Double old girl body and the double new girl body. I really would like to order my girl but I am having a hard time deciding. I love the way the new girl body looks but I really really love the detailing on the old body (like the shoulder blades and belly) so I was just wondering what are the thoughts on the bodies and if there's a side by side comparison.

Thanks for any help and advice you guys give! I appreciate it.

    4. I don't have any comparison pics to give to you - but if opinion is good, here I go.

The biggest difference comes with what you're looking for. A good looking doll that might not pose just as well or the body that can pose like it was made to do it (but might not be as soft and pretty as the other)

I find these two bodies quite different but I prefer old body for couple reasons:

1 ) Feet. I dislike new body's foot part very much and this is (believe it or not) the biggest turn off for me. Don't get me wrong, new body has very well sculpted and smooth thighs, calves and knees but I just can't handle the foot part...
Maybe it's coz I love shoes and I have found myself very attached to the "seperate" ball joint look in BJD world - I don't know if it affects their poseability but I don't like how they look in socks or with bumps based on my experience with Zenith girl and it's high-heel feet...

2 ) Torso joints. I love the fact that my Souldoll girl can move and pose freely. I find that this new body just couldn't be as poseable as the old body coz' it only has one joint under the breasts. (+ I don't know why - but I prefer old body breasts too)

But I DO give credits to the new body - It's very well sculpted and it looks smooth while I find the old body being rougher with more straighter lines, missing the female softness in legs and arms.
The new body looks pretty. Prettier than old body. But the feet and missing torso joint is just breaking the deal with me.

The main reason I chose to get a Souldoll was because it's flexible and can pose freely. Akahi was meant to be covered with layers of fabrics so her having a beautiful smooth body would have gone to waste in my opinion : /

      Hope this helps :'D

    5. The breasts look better on the old body, the new ones are kind of bubbly. But nothing a little sanding can't fix.
As far as the feet go they are pretty flat and don't have a lot of mobility. The new hands are absolutely beautiful though!

I've been going in and out, trying to snap some shots about Akahi, but none of them seem to come out the way I'd like them to : / Anyway this was pretty good so I thought I'd share to activate others too! : )

    7. @Maaru i'm going to come out of lurk to say SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL! :love

    8. megpie252 - Thank you so much! ^^

    9. This must have been talked about earlier too but - Where do you guys buy shoes for your girls/boys? : / I've been looking everywhere and so far I've found one pair of shoes that would fit my doll =_____=

      Any ideas or updates?

    10. I haven't got a Supia yet but I have a FL F60 and I think they're the same size. I love Horus Doll shoes, and I've got a couple of nice ones from Alice's Collections.

*whoops I thought I was in the Supia SD thread. Just replace Supia with SoulDoll and the comment still stands ^^

    11. Asta, I figured as much : D I get these quite much too ; D I'll have to go check the Horus doll and Alice's collection : D THANKS!

    12. I didn't see a thread like this, but if there is one, or if this is in the wrong spot, please move or delete it! Thanks!

I was looking at a doll on SoulDoll, and I saw that one of his options was "Shown double-jointed body" and "Hidden double-jointed body". Can anyone show/tell me what the difference is? Are "Hidden" joints more brittle? Do they pose better? What are this?

      Thanks!
      Ambie

    13. just jumping in from the Vito thread...

      Maaru:
Your Akahi is beautiful! I especially love her with the specially cut brown wig^^

NekoSam: Charlotte is so pretty, and her dress is amazing!

Does anyone have pictures of Yurr to spam? I just saw him and decided that he's perfect for my next character. But I promised myself that I wouldn't buy him until spring at least, so will anyone indulge me? :)

    14. AKAmbrose, I'd assume that hidden double joints would look a bit like Littlefee's leg joints (sorry, I can't link pictures to compare). Meaning that they - too - are made out of three seperate pieces (upper leg, knees, lower leg) but unlike visible double joints, they're sculpted so you can only see Upper and lover leg and the middle part (knees/balljoint) is hidden behind/under them.

I can't say if they pose better, since I don't know how they're sculpted... but I do know that the visible(/old) jointing works.

The biggest perk in the new legs would be if their mobility joint works properly (old doesn't - there is "stopper" so it doesn't roll freely, and it annoys me quite much since making my girls legs pose more elegantly means that she doesn't wear A ) Pants B ) Stockings... Cause ripping them from their place is actually annoying : P) BUT as I said, I don't know if they have fixed this problem or not so...

But they both SHOULD pose about the same from the knees either way. it's the matter of which legs you'd prefer, I think..

Someone please correct me if I'm completely wrong :'D

    15. In response to AKAmbrose:

The hidden joints are more visually appealing as they have a smoother joint line in the front, but they look pretty much the same in the back. I also like the way the hidden joints move better because they do seem to catch better and flop less. The unhidden joints work better if the doll is strung tighter. The hidden joints are also better looking especially on girls who tend to show their knees more than boys. The old joints also tend to take up more of the leg than the hidden ones as you can see above, which looks kind of funny.
      Hope this helps some.

I though it was time again to show a picture of Saar here, my Hye (on ariadoll body)

    17. I haven't really been playing with my Souldoll Star in quite a while. She needs a new outfit, but I have other projects to work on first before I get to that. ;__;
I thought I would snap a quick photo of her today anyway. This is Paige:

    18. I have a Yurr! He's on the double body and 61.5 cm tall. He's the open eyed version. He's a year old. :3

Here is a gallery topic for him and a photo. I am not home (haven't been for a while, lol) So I haven't gotten the chance to upload anything new.
