Thanks for the pm about the layaway stuff... but I've decided that I'm just not going to get them unless they sell the heads separately.... and even then, I might not. Even with layaway, its not really in my budget and I've decided that I'd rather be able to get other dolls next year instead. I dont have a job right now and shouldn't really be spending money on dolls at the moment anyway. It sucks, but I'm actually pretty calm about it now after the initial "omg no!"... which for me means that I'm not in love with them enough to warrant spending that much money on them when I could get dolls that I really really want and really love instead of just like.

 

Well, it looks like you can order heads separate now! They're on a discount just like the full dolls are, so that's good news.

I decided to bite the bullet, so I've got a Juana on the way. She'll be my first girl, so I'm super excited! Now I'll just have to figure out how to dress her (9_9)

 

O.o.... $91.... wow... umm maybe I will try and get the heads then.... hmmm... I think I will think about it for a few days and talk to the room mate... Dont really think I should be spending $200 right now but... ugh... Could just get one but I cant decide between Juana and Hye x.x And now there is the dilemma of a body for them.... blarg

 

Any idea why they aren't doing faceups? I guess buying them blank isn't the worst thing but I really like the faceups on some of the dolls!

 

Probably to cut down on production times because usually when companies discontinue dolls, they want to get them done as quickly as possible so they can destroy molds/get rid of stuff to clear up space for new dolls and molds etc.

 

I've asked if they are discontinuing the bodies along with the dolls themselves (face sculpts), there is something a little sad about imagining them destroying those face molds! They haven't gotten back to me yet on the boards, so we'll see if I'm skipped or not.

I also see they now have the 'Boy' and 'Girl' option for bodies, so there's no more double-ordering on heads. I am totally agreeing on the faceups...some of Souldoll's defaults are quite nice, argh!

Oh man, I'm glad I bought my Eliot head when I did! I feel like I'm the kiss of death on sculpts. < <"" My heart sank when I read the news of the summer event, though. Might need dat Morse tho... lolol

Seeing that they are discontinuing the Double Line makes me anxious; But that also leaves so many questions! They just renewed the Sweet line to Sweeter after discontinuing the old line. So, methinks they are doing the same with the Double. Hopefully, they'll roll out some pretty, new face sculpts that will be just as diverse. Also hoping they plan on reworking the Double bodies? I've always found the Double male bodies to look a bit funky. Something about both torsos/neck region don't look right to me. The Double girls are quite petite as far as SD girls go but have a great shape, think SoulDoll with rework those too? So many possibilities!

 

I'm hopeful if they are doing a body renewal, the changes are minimal on the girl bodies, which I do think are just beautiful and they pose so well for me. I haven't had any complaints about the double-boy body either, so maybe it's just me? Argh! I am absolutely wishing they would get to my post in the QA, but it looks like it'll be at least tomorrow. And they may tell me nothing if they're planning on a revamp.

It's a shame Souldoll is discontineuing so many pretty molds I've loved my Hye since the moment I opened the box... I now ordered an extra head for her, just in case anything might happen to her current head. I'd be heartbroken if I wouldn't be able to replace it for her.

 

and.... your pics sold me on biting the bullet and ordering Hye and Juana's heads.... I hope I love them both when they arrive, but if not, guess I'll sell them. $217 bucks O.o... At least they were cheaper than what they would have been. That 30% off helped me a TON!

 

I've gotten my reply, no surprises here...

So if they're planning a renewal of the bodies/line, they won't tell me of course. Now I just have to sort out how many bodies I'm getting, and if it's just a sheer act of futility to get even more heads while I get those bodies...I feel like I'm running a foot race on a treadmill at moments like this. And of course everyone posting beautiful doll shots helps not at all, argh...

If only I had the funds to buy some bodies... I would have totally got my girls with bodies if that were possible. But sadly, it's not I'm thinking about getting them feeple60 bodies later if the resins are still a good match. I want my girls to be slightly taller than they would be on the double bodies... not sure if it will work proportionally, but it will work for height differences hopefully since I had planned for them to be with my future migidoll boys (Ryu and Yujin).... I just dont know if the head size difference is going to bug me or not.

 

Yeah I really like the old girl body's torso. The hip and knees werent that appealing to me but the hips in the new body are about the same... but I'd have much rather of had the old body with the nice torso shape. I think they did it to cut down on production since then they'd only need one type of mold. Maybe ask them if they'd open up orders for the old bodies?

I have my Hye on a Ariadoll b bust body and she's now I think about 60 cm (she also wears high heeled feet) and the proportions look really good, it's a bit more realisticly proportioned then with her original body. So I think a fairyland body should work to, although they do have a lot smaller heads then the FL dolls have, but personally I've always found them to be pretty bobbleheaded XD

 

Have you posted photos of her on flickr/here? I think I might have saw her because I remember seeing a Hye with an Ariadoll body ^^ I am kind of half tempted to look for one for them too but since Ariadoll is gone now, I'm not sure how easy it would be to find one/two at a decent price. Could you post some pics so I can see how she looks?

Also, yeah that's sort of my thoughts on why the feeple body could work. Plus the feeple's look a little odd with how big their heads are on their own bodies, so I didnt think it would look too odd with Hye or Juana on it.

I think the resin match is a bit of a hit and miss... mine doesn't really match, she's a total frankendolly XD The body is I think ws (I had ordered ns but aria made mistakes in the beginning) and her hands are ns Sadol hands. And her head has aged a lot, when I got her she was REALLY pink, now she's a really nice tone ns because it has mellowed out a lot. I modded the neck to be a lot shorter, and because the neck flared out on the top (for increased mobility) it was also to wide so at the top I have make it slimmer to.

These body's pop up on the MP now and them, but I think a good match would also be the old April story body's, although those are a bit shorter. I have one of those with the big bust and it also seems to be a good choice for a SD hybrid. And maybe Sadol or SQlab. Btw I'm suspecting all these body's to be made by the same sculpter XD I have a thing for the aesthetics and the jointing

Edit: I just realised that Sadol and SD ns probably a good resin match is, the hands that I have from Sadol are quite pink, and have about the same color intensity as my Hye's head, although that one has mellowed quite a bit (she's 8,5 years old now)

 

I just looked at the Sadol bodies... but unfortunately I dont like that the knees arent double jointed (as far as I can tell) and the bodies dont have torso joints and the neck is too thick. I do like the leg/stomach/hip/arm sculpting though... but I dont really care for the bust region. I'm super picky when it comes to bodies. lol. They need to be aesthetically pleasing AND good posers
