1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Souldoll Souloid discussion part 1

Sep 15, 2011

    1. I really like the way the all white body looks too, now I am wondering if I should get my girl that color body instead of the steel skin for her lower body.

    2. We want to greet you!

Cyborg arrived to me several months ago, but we weren't shown here. The girl arrived to me with a make-up, but without body blushing. I can't force to draw myself it :kitty1

    3. she's lovely momoshka! Do you plan to commissoin someone to blush the body, or leave it without blushing?

    4. skyealloway Thanks! I want to try to make blushing. But I don't know, whether I can

    5. EmbracedLight - WoW, great job with the blushing! He looks gorgeous with all the little details enhanced :D

momoshka - Aw, she is so pretty :3 Hehe, and I understand your hesitation about the bodyblushing. I'm also hesitant to start on my boy

Anyway this is how my Walter currently looks (until the shimmery pigments I ordered arrive and I manage to get my hands on a can of glossy sealant):

Gosh, he is sooo unfinished...needs his proper eyes, the body-work, his vest >< But I just couldn't resist taking a picture...

    6. I know how you feel Smaug I looked into my doll cabinet last night and was like 'DANG still so much to do!" but the journey to completion is part of the fun ^_^

    7. Indeed! And I just got a shipping notice on the shimmery powders, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to start experimenting with the blushing sometime this month! :D

Hm, I also need to look up what stuff to use for mold-making. I kinda want to make LED lighted eyes for him...

    8. I wish I knew more about mold making too (not just for dolls, but also with Halloween coming up!). I think I've seen some tutorials on DoA for LED eyes, but the ones I remember, they just took silicon earplugs and put an LED light in them. Still looked pretty good, but didn't seem very durable.

    9. So I was on the Souldoll website and I couldn't help but notice that Ier is no longer showing as "Sold Out" for some strange reason. O.o

I doubt Souldoll would honour orders placed on her, but... I find it kind of amusing.

    10. That is weird. I think it's a mistake in their coding.

    11. Here's a picture of my Mizore:

I ordered her with the standard face-up and body blushing, but without the "creeper tattoo" ... never really saw the point of that one.
However, when she arrived I discovered, somewhat to my horror, that the body blushing on the android parts wasn't at all what I'd imagined it to be from Souldoll's own photos. Of course, as can be expected, it was less detailed and applied with less care than the prototype, but ... it was basically just a standard blushing, such as would be done on any doll, just airbrushed with this ... metallic golden pink stuff. To me, the paintwork made no sense at all, applied to mechanical body parts.
The detailing, such as there was, seemed to be done with golden Gundam marker or suchlike.
      Not what I wanted.

So, I went ahead and removed almost all the blushing on the mechanical body parts — the only exceptions being what you can see is still left on her knee plates, the girdles around her thighs, and the sort of "belt" thing that lies on her hips. With my new paintwork, I was shooting for an interpretation of what the Souldoll images had originally conveyed to me.

Also, the detail in her left upper arm "damage" was almost non-existent — all filled in with black, with this cylindrical thing painted silver — so away it went, and I re-did that detailing entirely.
Otherwise, I left the blushing on the organic parts pretty much alone, but I added some detail in the mechanistic vein.

    12. She looks stunning! That long black wig really suits her. That's a real shame about the default blushing, although it makes me glad I opted for blank when I bought my Souloid boy.

    13. That is a kickass gun prop! Sad to hear your disappointment but at least you seem confident in your ability to fix it :) I gotta click the link and check out more pics!

    14. I made an interesting discovery last night. I recently got a new set of drawers to sort my doll clothes in, and felt guilty that my two MSD girls have more shoes than all my other sizes of dolls combined. Later, I was playing in my doll cabinet, and put my one pair of slippers, that fit my souloid (they're handmade) on my Bluefairy MSD and WUT they fit perfect! and I was like THAT BLOWS MY MIND.

So I dug out all the MSD shoes I have and at least half of them fit him really well! It made me extra sad that a lot of them I got from the MP and there was no brand description. But for sure a pair of Dollmore boots fits, and the 'fold over sneakers' by 'guess doll' fits.

I don't know why for the past several months, I've just assumed he must have bigger feet because he is taller!

His limbs are still too long to fit in the other MSD clothes I have thou >.>

    15. SoulDOLLLLLLLLLL!

Anyone notice that all the Souloids and some other dolls (at the very least, certain Soul Double doll) are "temporarily sold out due to a big rush of orders"? Which, in Souldoll-speak, means "these dolls may never even be sold again ever." WTF Souldoll? I hate Souldoll and their stupid "let's randomly stop selling these dolls" antics!

    16. Bummer, I hadn't noticed. This is also my only soul doll so im not familiar w the antics. I'm glad I go my guy though !

    17. The steel skin option was sold out for several months and it came back again eventually. I'm sure they'll release some more Souloids again at some point, even if they don't rerelease the previous sculpts. They've put out so many new dolls out in the last few months that I'm not surprised they're still backed up with orders. They should stop releasing new stuff and concentrate on getting through all those orders first.

    18. Gahhh, I knew I should have picked up a Souloid girl sooner, but I was hoping for them to sell the body separately. I hope they haven't been officially discontinued. ;_;

I always got the impression that Souldoll doesn't like producing the Souloids, possibly because they're so complex to cast and assemble? Which is a shame; they're such gorgeous dolls.

    19. I directly asked at the Souloids body part section if they'd be returning, as I've been wanting one as well.
My preference would have been Walter, but as in most cases I fall in love with a limited no longer avaible...
I do have some alternative plans if I can just get my hands on a body...
