1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Souldoll Souloid discussion part 1

Sep 15, 2011

    1. Unless you want it a completely different colour, the steel skin is really worth the cost and it doesn't need any extra blushing to look great. I imagine it would be a real pain to blush the whole mechanical body with an even colour, especially without dying it or using an airbrush. There are lots of little crevices all over the place that would be difficult to reach.

    2. Oh that's true, the logistics of getting all the mechanical parts evenly colored, ESPEACIALLY around the waist where those tubes come out, would be really difficult, even with an airbrush. If you were going for a more "mostly white with blushed areas" look, like the way a human doll is normally blushed, then I think it could look really cool. I'd still like to see someone try it (I'm sure someone has, I just haven't seen it)

    3. I got the steel skin for mine and I can say it's a fantastic look; it needs nothing else done to it. I <3 <3 <3 it!

    4. Waah! The steel skin is so pretty! I do agree, it seems like it is definitely worth the extra cost. :aheartbea
DX I have to wait until my next paycheck to order my boy. I should have looked for some freelance work earlier. D:

    5. Man Q AQ Now that the Souloids are back I have absolutely no money TT nTT I hope they stay up there for a while so I can try to save up! I really like Diget.

    6. Thanks for all the input guys! I actually want a black mechanical parts XD I saw someone in flickr spray painted their souloid's white mechanical parts brown and it looks awesome!

Too bad though, it turns out you can't order souloid with white parts/no extra $60 cost, I just asked =x I'm kinda irked because if they don't offer white parts why would they listed the souloids as 349$ when you have no choice but to select steel skin which will make the total cost 409 anyway. I kinda feel like it's a bit of false advertising.

    7. Whaat? That seems kind of annoying. D:
I want to airbrush my boy's human parts to match his robot parts, and get him jointed hands. I want him to be mostly robot! X3 Except I'm having a hard time saving for my boy's deposit now. I'll probably need to ask my fiance to help me before Diget is gone. D:

    8. Yes its so annoying! Now im not sure if i shoukd get diget. :( That sounds like a great idea! Which jointed hands are yoh looking at for him? Oh how much is the deposit?are you going through souldoll or alice collections?

    9. I was going to be going through Souldoll, as I wanted to use their layaway, but they require a $200 deposit. However, I might just ask Alice's Collections what kind of layaway they offer. If it's long enough, I'll be able to tack on a couple Stacy's Pink Ocean outfits too. :XD: I am thinking of Dikadoll hands. They seem pretty nice, and I think they should match well enough. Not that it matters once I start painting everything.
Ah, considering the price and the timing, I am second-guessing if I should stress out about trying for Diget as well. I dunno, whatever happens, happens. :XD:

    10. Just a week left to order Diget and I'm still not sure whether I should get him or not :? anyone in the same situation?

Pandy Dikadoll hands are nice :) I got one for my incoming Dollzone body. and yes the clothes at Alice colections are pretty good for their price arent they? and free shipping for diget! I'm thinking of ordering souloid from them as well especially if they offer 3-4 month layaways.

    11. Caved and ordered Dara! I was on the fence about ordering her because I really only want the body (and I'm trying to save money for all the Christmas events that I know are going to tempt me), but I hesitated on Rachel and regretted it for months. Very nearly ordered two of them, because I want sisters, but I'm holding onto a pipe dream that one day they'll release the black robot parts again. XD

I'm a little intimidated since I ordered her without body blushing and I'll have to blush her myself. Guess it's time to get that airbrush I've been eyeing. ;D

    12. Pulling this thread back up since we are having some nice Souloid discussion over in the waiting thread.
Anyone got their Souloids in th emeantime? How about some pics? ;)

    13. The only new picture I've taken recently was when I tried to get a group shot done:

    14. Nice family pic <3
I spot another 'bot there. She's from Batchix, no?
And nice outfit on your Souloid. What mold is he? An Iraki?

    15. Thanks Snowy. Seth is a Iraki, wearing the Version 3 outfit from his release (I still haven't made my own!!) and yep that wee android is Tara Byte. She doesn't need clothes since she's a droid, but Seth still prefers a jacket since he's a cyborg. :)

    16. Here's my just-arrived Dara :)

    17. @skyealloway: No problem <3 Do your two mechas have some sort of story together? Handsome Iraki >3<

@Tokoz: Wow, congratualtions! I actually like her face better blank than with the default FU of Souldoll. Congratualations on getting her! Looking forward to see what you'll do to her -^^-

    18. @Snowy: Thanks! Me, too. Her face is much nicer blank and in person. I was seriously skeptical based on the company photos, but I just love that souloid body so much I took a chance. I'm glad I did. :)

    19. Congrats Tokoz! Will you be doing the faceup yourself?
Snowy - I don't really write stories about my dolls, in fact, I usually don't even come up with characters! But something about the robot parts made me come up with what kind of characters the two might be. Seth (Iraki) is definitely part of a post-apocalyptic world, and sometimes my other dolls join him, but Tara Byte doesn't have a world... I like to think of my dolls as if they are a RPG adventuring party, so I imagine she could be a companion to one of those one day. She needs a pack or a backpack though so that she can be a good companion.... or at least a tool belt!

Actually, I'd really like Seth to have a tool kit too, for when he has to make repairs on himself :) Wish I was better at fabrication so I could make one!

    20. skyealloway -- Thank you! Eventually, I will be doing the faceup. I have to teach myself how to do it first, though! And, buy some decent detail brushes -- mine are probably over a decade old at this point.... ;)
