1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Souldoll Souloid discussion part 1

Sep 15, 2011

    1. Thank you, I really like him. His body came that way from his first owner. It is wonderfully done. I did his faceup but not his body.
He stood on the dresser for hours yesterday, I had forgotten I stood him there. :eusa_naug Those wide feet sure do make him solid, thank goodness.

    2. @Snowy Thank you so much for the comparison photos and the detail difference breakdown! It's all super helpful, would you say the chest and arm sculpt is essentially the same as the NL body? I look forward to seeing what the new resin they're using looks like, it looks like they've gotten better at making that metallic finish effect.

How many people have ordered the new Souloids? I think they're great, I wasn't expecting this event at all. If anyone is interested in just the Phiel head by the way I'm hosting a split, https://denofangels.com/threads/souldoll-souloid-phiel-white-silver.720390/, I'm in love with the Souloid body but I don't think the Phiel head will work with what I want to do.

Has anybody had any luck in finding clothes for them? I imagine they don't quite fit the clothes the NL bodies do, and even those are hard to find clothes for.

    3. I plan on ordering in the next few days. I also plan to put the Titika head on the cyborg body as I'm not feeling the Phiel sculpt for the character. I'm almost wondering if I should leave them a note about my finding the possible marbling of the metallic resin desirable. I don't want to confuse them or anything but if I were to get one that is quite.. stripey, I'd be pretty happy about it.

    4. @Danny0709 Yes, the human-parts are totally the same.
      And no problem at all!
I'm glad to see more ppl getting interested in the Souloids and hope to see lots in the future :D

Eeeh... i don't really cloth mine. Thought I think he's going to get some gloves or bracers in the future. maybe a sort of cloak that splits open. I don't want to hide too much of his awesome body. And I make the clothes myself, so :\ Afraid I won't be of much help.
Well, top-wise they can wear the same as their NL counterpart, unless that shirt or whatever is skin tight and non-stretchy at all.
For the legs you might have to buy a slightly widder pair of pants and then take in some fabric at the hips.

    5. And on the clothing front, he likely won't wear anything more than maybe a bolero style jacket. I don't intend to cover his cyborg parts. I'll also be making his clothes (what little he'll have) but I make about 95% of the clothes all my boys wear so that's not a biggie. Hopefully one of my existing patterns will fit him and I won't have to make yet another custom pattern for a doll, which seems to be the story of my dolling life.

    6. I always think mine will wear clothes, but then I never get him any. He usually just wears his default set jacket

    7. I have ordered myself a Phiel in milk cocoa/gold. I already have one Souloid, but I couldn't resist getting another now that they've introduced gold.

My Shaun hybrid usually wears no clothes. I just can't bring myself to cover up the robot body, plus it's much cheaper to have naked dolls!

    8. This is a really dumb question probably, but I can't figure out - what's the difference between human and mechanical versions of the Souloid sculpts?

    9. I think the human is supposed to just be the normal doll body with that head sculpt but when you look at the photos they show the mechanical bodies. So I am unsure myself.

    10. @Ishtar It's for people who like the head sculpt but not the robot body. The human ones come on the standard NL girl/boy body, the mechanical ones come on the actual Souloid body. You can see from the "body" option on the human sales pages.

    11. I posted a question on their Q& A so I will confirm their answer. If she came on a normal Souldoll Kid body I would definitely get Lavi.
Also, can anyone show me what a kid and a Vito look like next to each other?

Last row, left two are Vito, middle row are Soulkids with NL body, first row are older Soulkids heads on DL bodies (about 43 cm tall).

    13. Thanks. They look OK together, I love your Vito guys

    14. I ordered a Phiel human in grey skin also! I am so exited! He is such a beautiful sculpt! I wanted a grey skin doll for so long and this resin looks amazing!
Do you know if the nl body fits iplehouse jid clothes? It will be hard to find some clothes for him since he is a weird size :ablink:
Congrats to anyone who got him!!!:D The mechanical body looked phenomenal also!:blush

    15. Placed my layaway last night. I ordered the gold Phiel souloid body with WS parts and got the Titika head with default face up also in WS. I'll be witching out the Phiel head for the Titika head as that's what speaks to me for the character. His partner is going to be a head I've had in a box (that always sounds so bad when I say/type it out that way) since I literally got into this hobby (it was another free head event), which was 8 years ago. So I'm taking one head in a box (AoD tan Min) out and replacing it with another head (SD Phiel WS) *laughs*. I would hope that it doesn't take me another 8 years to figure out who that head is.

    16. I hope this is the right place to ask this (I never know...)
      1. How long is the Souloid/Event doll waits?
      2. Besides the cyborg body, is the upper body/head the same as SoulKids? (For clothing, wigs, eyes, etc)?
      3. How does one survive through a 6-month layaway?

    17. @britnirose
      1. I'd check the waiting room for an estimate and add a month. If you are using the longest layaway possible thought, chances are good your doll is finished or doesnt take that long after the final payment.
      2. Yes. I posted a pic a page or two ago comparing cyber & normal body plus cyber body with normal heads.
Keep in min the wig size is 6-7, eye recommendation variates between 10-12 cm and the upper body is broader & longer than most MSDs.
      3. Painfully but excited. Preparing for the dolls arrival. Suffer. Try to save up more money or try to earn more through various stuff to pay off the doll faster. Check inbox and homepage status constantly. Get crazy. Drive others crazy. :3

    18. LOL! I'm not the only one who is waiting with a 6 month layaway.

Thanks for the info on the eyes. I want to get one of those Ersa Flora steampunk eyes now I just have to decide which one would be better for seeing the gear(s) in the eye.

    19. @Haruka My boy has custom made 12mm eyes from her. He's a Diget, who's got rather narrow eyes and I think 10mm would have made it seem more realistic in his case. But I adore the eyes and they are going to stay XD

With the two models I'm not quite sure wether to recommend the bigger or smaller size.

This is Diget with the 12mm eyes by Ersa Flora. So, I'm leaning more towards recommending 10mm with the current models, for realism and 12 if you want to see more of those pretty gears (because who cares about realism when you can have gears in the eyes of your android/robot/whatever).
