1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

SoulDoll Zenith Discussion ~ Part II

Nov 12, 2014

    1. Hi all, I've been looking into buying a bjd for some time now and have this week ordered my first, a Souldoll Stella after much deliberation! As a newbie is there anything in particular I should known advise wise about care of Souldolls in particular? R the factory face ups pretty long lasting? I hear the zenith body's can be prone to staining? Thanks in advance and I look forward to hopefully getting to know you better!

    2. Hey Dolleve, welcome to the Den! (I saw you joined today :whee:) Gongrats on getting Stella! She's wonderful <3 Did you get her during the winter event to get a free outfit?
I think factory faceups are always less resistant than custom faceups, but by taking good care of your doll you should be able to keep it in good shape. For example, take the head off whenever handling the body to avoid scratching the faceup, never touch it directly, and so on.

& about Souldoll resin being more prone to staining, I wouldn't know since I don't own a Souldoll (not yet! :whee:)

    3. I've had my Uha for almost a year and I don't find her body more prone to staying than other dolls. Be careful of dark clothes and remember that Magic Easer does take off those kinds of stains.

    4. Thanks for the welcome! Yes I hung on till the winter event to get her and picked the No.7 dress. As I've seen from some post above, I too would have preferred another colour choice, and it's not really the look I think I am going to be going for with Stella, but I'm sure it will be lovely!

I had been trying for a few months to register for this forum so as soon as I saw registration was back open for a day yesterday I jumped right in.

I think I may get one of those bubble-cover things (don't know the name!) for her face when she's stored away to protect the face up. Which leads me on to another question...wigcaps? Do the dolls automatically come with wig caps and do you all recommend them? I know I am being ultra-safe as she will be my first but I did read somewhere on here that some people had got stains on the heads from the wigcaps whereas their wigs never caused any damage.

Which companies dolls do you have Dayme?

Thank you that's really helpful advice about Magic Eraser, I will have to see if I can get one of those in the UK, is it made by a particular manufacturer, just so I know I'm looking for the right thing?!

    5. Welcome to DoA and congrats on ordering your first doll :) Great to see more people interested in Zenith girls~

Dolls don't usually come with silicone wig caps, you need to buy them separately. Many doll companies (for example Luts and Leekeworld) sell them and you can also find them from Ebay! All of my dolls have wig caps and I've never had any problems with staining, the wig caps actually prevent that (The possible stains usually come from the fabric wig cap that the hair is attached to) and also help the wigs to stay on better. Souldoll Zenith tend to have a bit smaller heads than regular SD dolls that wear 8-9inch wigs, so wigs from other companies might be a little big on them, but with wig caps they fit nicely :)

With resin dolls the staining is not a big problem, like Patrice S said you can use magic eraser for removing stains or dirt from your doll. You can find magic erasers from Ebay as well.

    6. Thanks for the tips, I feel a little more at ease now! If the wig is an 8-9 are 8-9 wig caps the best size for Zenith's or the 7-8 if they are slightly smaller than the wig?

    7. I actually prefer the 7-8 size wig caps myself :) It's quite a tight fit on the Zenith head, but doesn't cover the ears like the 8-9 would... On the other hand, if you want more protection against staining, then you might want to go for the bigger size, since it covers more of the head.

    8. Dolleve, I will be excited to see your Stella. She's such a lovely sculpt.

I will sometimes use a thicker rubber band instead of a wig cap as I've had some staining with black wigs but those were the very flexible wig caps that I don't know if they're made anymore. My one Uha has a rubber band under her Leekeworld 7/8 wig since it was roomy on her but my redhead is wearing a 7/8 JPop wig which is essentially a Monique Gold wig and I don't need anything under it.
I've also never had any wig staining issues with either Jpop or Monique Gold black or dark colored wigs.

    9. It's quite exciting buying all the little things ready for her arrival, hopefully it will make the wait time fly by faster! I live in the UK so the selection is a little bit more limited so thank god for ebay!

Do you display your dolls at all, or keep them in the boxes until 'play time'? I'm considering some sort of cabinet I can keep her in, but not a glass cabinet so she's not always in the light, something like a Chinese cabinet with doors maybe where I can display her sitting down.

Patrice - I will be sure to share some pics when she arrives. I have never made any Youtube vids before, but the box opening vids I saw really helped me choose which I was going to buy, so I may do a box opening vid too. Your Uha's are beautifully styled, I love the clothing. Are they Souldoll face-ups or do you do them yourself?

    10. okay I am annoyed... I asked if I could add the Scott set to my existing order "doll" order when they released it.. they said yes... now (when I asked them to add it now that it's out) they say only if I order a doll in the 'event' period'... nice detail to leave out SD... not happy with you right now >< They knew what order I wanted to add it too!

    11. @Lady Tiku Sorry to hear that :/ Maybe there was some sort of misunderstanding in the communication between you and Souldoll? Their English is not always the best, so they might've misunderstood your question or something? :( Though it does make sense that they wouldn't allow the gift clothes to be added to orders before the event period - otherwise many people that ordered before the event would be asking for the free/sale price outfits... It would be great if SD offered them for additional purchase with the normal price though, so that people who ordered before the event would have at least some way of getting the clothes :/

    12. I've been displaying my dolls for the time I've had them (10 years for the oldest ones). They spend their time in glass door cabinets, because honestly, unless the doll is in a dark box 24/7 for years without the lid ever opening, it makes barely no difference to the yellowing. (They react with air, so only a sealed box where the air doesn't ever change would prevent yellowing -and even then it will happen). So, I see no point in keeping expensive pretty things in boxes only to take them out once in a while. I like to look at my dolls every day. :3

Sorry about that. ^^; They're really iffy about adding to orders and probably misunderstood you before. They're happy to combine most of the time, but straight out adding is a no go (probably to keep the inventory numbers realistic etc.).

    13. Both are Souldoll faceups. I actually bought my 2nd Uha planning on using the body with my Justitia so I could switch off with the armored body but I fell in love with that 2nd Uha's face which is quite different from my first Uha's so that plan went out the window. My Justitia just guards my living room in her armor.

Some of my dolls I keep covered with sheets and pillow cases but I have a couple of places in my living room that I can display them without the sun hitting them so I'll revolve my dolls periodically to those chairs.

Lady Tiku, I'm sorry about not being able to add the Scott outfit. So far I've only seen the free MSD sweater outfit offered for sale separately.

    14. @PatriceS - beautiful ladies!

      :candycane

    15. I was off the thread for a few days & I've learnt so much stuff just reading through the past few posts @_@ Thanks so much for sharing all that info you guys~ You're really a bunch of professionals ^^

I will add to my list a 7-8 wig cap just like you, Dolleve.
& also what size eyes do most of you use with your Zenith girls?

      Patrice S
, your Uha duo is stunning *0* is it the same default faceup on each of them? They look quite different and each have a charm of their own.

    16. Do any of you know whether after you have placed your order directly on the Souldoll site and got your order confirmation if the Order Status usually stays at 'Item Processing' until it's time to ship?

    17. I'm 99.9% sure the answer is yes... the same way Iple has "preparing to ship"

unless it's a layaway like mine. mine has only 1 of 6 payments and says this:
      2015-11-12 (12:43) 20151112124325732MC 1,032.30 First payment completed Cannot cancel

aernath is the one who will know lol.

    18. Yup, it'll be "Item Processing" until your order gets shipped. Then the status will change to "On shipping" and you'll also receive a shipping notice to your email. I've sometimes had problems with the doll company emails getting to the spam folder, so you might want to check there as well from time to time just to make sure :)

    19. Thanks petiteballerine and Dayme. I love those Uha's so much and yes, they have Souldoll faceups but they are indeed, very different from one another.

The redhead Uha has her default Souldoll eyes which are listed as 14mm. However, the blond is wearing 12mm Eyeco's and they're rather too big for her and I just haven't gotten around to ordering her a smaller size. So as far as what eyes they wear, I have no clue. Maybe others can give you a better idea but you do get eyes with your doll and you can request a color or style.

    20. Another question... they just keep popping into my head!

I ordered Stella with a separate pair of heel feet, but I just thought, are the usual feet part of the strung mechanism? Will I have to try and re-string her to change hands/feet (quite a task for me as a newbie) or are the hands and feet attached separately to allow you to change them often?
