1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Stick To What You Know?

Oct 13, 2010

    1. I do both.
Right now I don't own two dolls from the same company (if you count my Ndoll Aiko as a Ndoll, and not a Little Monica), and in the past, I've tried many other different companies. So I'm not stuck on one company, but I do have an aweful lot of Iplehouse dolls on my wishlist. I think the problem may be, that they're one of the few places, that makes male dolls I can use for my characters.
Last year I had a SOOM problem, but now I'm down to only one SOOM doll in my house. Maybe the same will happen with Iplehouse? And who knows what'll happen, if more companies comes out with masculine dolls?

    2. Hmm nope... this is not me. My first doll i actually got for a good friend... he wsa a luts.... good company in my opinion, but the Resinsoul Pixiu stole my heart years later... and I bought him from Denver Doll Emporium... I like his quality, but the experience needed to own a resinsoul doll seems way too overwhelming for a 1st doll... having to restring him first thing, and all the painting and everything... couldn't have picked a more nightmarish doll to start off with myself.... then a 5Star Tiny caught me off guard with a hole in my pocket lol. I'd definately gravitate toward 5Star in the future because the quality of this little guy... wow. The one coming is Angell-Studio, and I'm going through another vendor to get him... I guess it's ok to play it safe, but limiting yourself based on what you know could be sacrificing valuable experience... like learning to restring by getting resinsoul dolls XD

    3. I'm honestly mixed. At realizing that the sculpt I wanted wasn't really what I wanted after all I decided on one doll but then I thought about it and now I'm just unsure...I usually stick to ordering from Junkyspot since Emory is seriously the fastest.

    4. At the moment, I find myself sticking to Soom for dolls. Before my little soomies, I owned quite a few different company dolls that ranged from, DOC, Minifee, Angelheim and Luts. They never lasted too long at home, and if they did that time was often spent in their boxes. As for clothes, I find myself drawn to various different companies. Rosenlied is my go to right now, but I often look around at seamstresses on DOA and various other shops such as dollheart, dollmore, nine9style, Soom and lots of other places too. ^^ ♥

    5. At the moment, I'm kind of the opposite! I only have one BJD, but almost all the dolls I want are from different companies! I want to try them all out and I love seeing all the different companies and dolls they have to offer. That's just me though ;)

    6. Not at all. My first doll was a Volks, but I just couldn't buy from them exclusively because I'm not into the rest of their sculpts that much. For me it's just about whatever doll stands out to me. My wishlist gets longer every day, with a lot of dolls from different companies.

    7. I personally love exploring even though I'm new to the hobby. I adore so many different sculpts Asian and Non Asian. It's really fun seeing different companies works and comparing them each side by side. I don't think I don't think I can ever choose to stick to "just one company" . Being a self-taught artist I believe that in many hobbies if you don't explore how will you ever learn or grow.

    8. I have to say I am a little bit "stuck" on the doll companies I know. My first girl was an AoD and I loved her. I just haven't gotten around to getting another one. Then I stumbled upon RS and BBB. I don't like them just b/c they're cheaper, but lets be honest, it is a big draw. For me anyway. I really like their sculpts and if I can get 2-3 of them for the price I could get 1 of another company, I'm gonna go with the 3 lol. But truth be told I haven't browsed a doll company yet that I didn't find at least one girl that I was like "yeah I'll take one of those." I just put a DZ Annie on layaway so I'm branching out slowly.

    9. A little bit of both, really. Most of the dolls I like all come from the same companies, but their are a few outside those companies that I want to get too. It depends on the sculpt more than anything, really.

    10. I get a bit nervous about buying from "new" companies but I'm fine buying a doll from anyone else.
