Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

    1. Putting Ealasaid on the rail of a cruise ship to take pictures. The ship was docked - and thus no moving, so no wind.

That was not the scary part. The scary part was that there was nothing behind the doll - which meant that if she fell, she would have fallen around 10 stories down and landed in the ocean.

I still get scared when I see the photo I took. At least it turned out nice.

    2. ugh.. Just thinking about your doll falling over gives me chills.

    3. I put Zoey in my flowerbed to take pictures, I had a little bit of water in there just enough to make the ground look nice, but not so much that it went into her ankle joint, she was standing there and I was taking pictures and i looked thru my camera and was like :O where did she go? she fell over and right into the water and mud i was in shock ive been so carefull with her i was so mad a t my self... the water and mub went into her elbow and her head and soked the elastic.... i dried her out the best i could... shes ok but it was my first incident with her...

    4. I don't have an actual doll, but I'm sculpting one, and just last night, I was roughly putting my doll together to see how he looked, and his head fell on the floor. Now you should know that since I'm sculpting my doll, he is made of clay................. Needless to say that when his head fell, it messed up his nose!!! F*CK!!!! I was so upset because I thought his nose looked perfect, and now, I have to try to get it back to the way it was...... I'm so sad. Oh well, these things happen.

    5. Me and my friend were running from our hotel room to the convention during Fanime. She was in leg warmers that dangled over the bottom of her platform shoes, and she was carrying her Azurite. As we crossed the street, I heard her yelp, a thud, and a crack.

...I know my immediate thought should've been, "Oh my God! Are you okay?" Instead, all I managed to say was, "OH MY GOD! YOUR DOLL!"

She was fine, if only a little bruised. The back of his scalp had popped off, and this was our first day owning them. Stupid newbs that we were, we thought we broke him. XD

    6. Erm...I guy I used to like could balance a drumstick on his middle finger and do stuff with it...
Well, my sister and I were hanging out later and...
"What he can do with a drum stick I can do with a $200 doll!!!" (actually more than 200....xD) and balanced Aya on my fingers....she took a little tumble, but we caught her xD

Yeah, my sister hasn't let me forget that...xDD

    7. Bought a large plush sheep for them to ride in a photo shoot. Then I thought, hm, would people get the wrong impression? It was a pretty funny image though!
And now I have a big ol' sheep sitting in my room. Hm, will people get the wrong impression of me? Hope not!:o

    8. Mm, within about a week of owning my first doll, I stuck him on an iron railing above a concrete floor and went to take pictures. Yeah, that went over well. Broke one of the tabs on his ears, but otherwise he survived without incident.

      I didn't really get any smarter, though, as a month later I stuck him on the wooden railing of a suspension bridge dangling about 100 feet above the bear enclosure at the zoo. >.>; Luckily he opted to stay put, but I only barely caught another girl's doll who'd done the same thing and the wind picked up. Aie. x.@;;

    9. I usually put my girl in a purse to carry her to meets (she an MSD so she fits). Well, I forgot I also had a note pad in the purse... When I took her out, the black paint from the spiral binding on the pad was all over her face D: Luckily, Mr. Clean saved the day. It sure was horrifying, though...
Not sure I'd carry her in a purse anymore...

    10. Let's see...

Once while at school I tried to pry off Sanyu's head cap to fix her eyes and ended up flinging the head cap across the school. Everyone stopped to watch it bounce across the floor and we all had this horrified expression until it stopped.

I often attempt to sew Sanyu clothes and I'll often pin the fabric while it's on her... and then sometimes I'll forget there are pins there. Luckily I've only pricked myself. I haven't scratched her with them yet.

I once tried to blush Sanyu's hands without de-stringing her and held her elastic in her wrist with a MSD sized screwdriver from the eyeglass kit. I chipped her wrist trying to remove and the elastic snapped back into her body so I had to de-string her anyway.

When I first got up the guts to do a face-up I made the mistake of using testors... sprayed it wrong... and then tried to blush her ears. To this day she still has some white gunk from the testors and brown icky pastels from her first face-up stuck in her ears... though a lot less than before thanks to help from a good friend.

I almost super glued a hair ornament to Sanyu's wig when I went to go see how it would look. It was magnetic and I had forgotten that she still had a magnet taped under her wig from before. So imagine the shock on my face when the thing snapped out of my fingers and onto her wig while the super glue was still wet! :o I got it off in time, though.

    11. Take into consideration I've had my doll for less than two weeks now. Who knows, maybe I'll beat up my own record in the future (though, I'm hoping I won't).

The clumsiest, stupidest thing I've done so far? When I got my doll and was cutting the plastic cushions so I could get him out of the box, I made a deep cut on his stomach. It wouldn't sound so bad, really... Except that the box had already been opened while in customs: I had to go retrieve it from the customs office and was terribly anxious and afraid of the employees damaging my doll. They turned out to be very careful and helpful and, you see, it seems my doll was actually safer with them than in my own hands.

I spent the first day with my doll sanding off the cut. And I did it, mind you, but the cut was so deep and I sanded too much, that it's pretty noticeable my doll is "missing" a small part of his lower stomach if you see close enough. I need to restring it, but I don't trust myself at all to do it. I'm almost sure I'll end up breaking something (or, who knows, maybe stringing his leg the other way round or something like that).

    12. Letting my American Bulldog have access to my dolls. I was playing around on my laptop in the doll room when Zeus came to say hello. I was not paying attention when I heard a slight chomping sound. Zeus was gently chewing on Ari's bare foot, and now Ari has 2 little dents on the bottom of his foot; but it could have been so much worse, he could have lost his whole leg. Zeus is banned from the doll room but still tries to ninja his way in if I'm in there w/ the door open.

    13. I was at a convention, trying to snap some pics of Gao. As I was getting him into the perfect position I bumped him just right to make his head cap (wig included) pop off and go bouncing away into the crowds. I had to crawl through hundreds of people to snatch it back up before it was crushed! o_O

    14. I scribbled a pen onto my hand to get the ink out so I could trace a pattern around fabric I was cutting to make my boy some pants. Forgetting I had ink on my hand, I picked him up by his butt. There was a huge ink print on his butt where my hand was, and it wouldn't come off.

After crying for a minute or so I demanded my mother take me to Wall Mart to get a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser. All better.

    15. I adore this thread! It’s both scary AND funny, in parts – with a hint of lots of face planting. hehe
I'm glad nearly everyone's mishaps have turned out ok though! And I’m sure when I get my own doll, I’ll have plenty of stories too (is a total uncoordinated klutz with absolutely no common sense)!

    16. I had had my AoD Chi head for less than 24 hours when I took him into school to say hello to my french teacher who's fallen in love with my dolls.

Afterwards in Manga club, one of my friends said she was creeped out by just a head.

      I went: RAUUGH!!!
and waved his little, precious head in her face.

She smashed it out my hand.

      Chi crashed into the floor.

      Everyone gasped.

      I froze.

After a moment I picked up the courage to go and pick him up, and...

He was fine *PHEW*!!! Not even his pointy, huge ears had chipped!!! God, though. I was so terrified. Poor Holly xD She was almost in tears.

    17. eeeee, another AOD chi owner! <3 *dracosayzhai*

x_x the stupidest thing I did. well.

brought draco's head to school to do faceup, and was doing it secretly in class. =w= had to turn hide his head on my lap, and was turning around, leaning to get something from my friend when I shifted and he rolled off my lap onto the hard concrete floor. @_@ I freaked out and checked obsessively for dents or scratches... there was nothing. then I turned again, and HE ROLLED OFF AGAIN. Orz. panicked again and grabbed him and omg was so worried about his ears... but luckily, nothing was damaged... hell, Draco was smirking at me as if to say "heh, gotcha, sucker." OTL but the trip out seemed to get him out of the bad mood he was in... ^w^

    18. @kurohebi: OMG THOSE EARS. So gorgeous, but so terrifying...! I have to keep checking them xD! I thought I'd want to sand them off, but as soon as I saw him ni person I fell in love and they're here to stay xD!!

    19. Weeeellll. I tried to dye a doll and excidentally boiled the head.

    20. Stupid.. huh. Well, the stupidest thing I've probably done was buy her a skirt that was wayyyy too short and then not buy her any undies. Her skirt's gone up a few times around the guys in the house, and I guess it makes them uncomfortable, lol.
