Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

    1. While I was attempting to reshape Diego's lip, I got a little too eager with the sandpaper and practically sanded his entire bottom lip off. :horror:

      After I got over the initial shock of him looking like he had an overbite from hell, I broke out the milliput, put a new lip (that I like much better) on him, and painted him so he looks WS >.>;;

I also attempted to work on him with black nailpolish on, and dropped him like five seconds after I got him out of the packaging, leaving a HUGE gouge on his cheek/chin. @_@ I'm convinced that he's going to be my danger-prone doll.

    2. I've got 2 stupid moments, one which is partialy my fault, the other completely my fault, and all with the same poor doll.

My two dolls Tarrant and Nika sit on top of a waist high shelf that's next to my bed, which is a loft bed (bunk bed above a desk) with a removable ladder. One day Nika was sitting in the chair closest to that ladder when I had the ladder standing straight up like an idiot. SO! The ladder chose that moment as I was turning around to slowly and menacingly start falling towards the shelf.

I freak out, reach for the ladder seconds too late, and it colides with Nika and CATAPULTS him from his chair about 5 ft through the air to land with a deafening SMACK! onto the hardwood floor. I was shocked, but quickly snatched him up from the floor and as shocked as I was, he had not a single scratch on him! o.o

My second, or rather HIS second fall was at school. I had him sitting on my arm as I'm leaving my last class when a friend I hadn't seen in a while was there in the hallway. I hadn't seen him in a while, so I go to give him a hug. For a split second I notice nothing wrong till I realize my arm is empty and then, without hearing the sound of him hitting the floor, a kid I particularly find annoying stops me and over exagerates in an irritating voice "Oh no, your dollie fell! Don't worry, I'll get him for you Mari!"

This kid did two things to tick me off. First, he made it sound like Nika was shattered to pieces (and called him a "dollie"), and second he called me by name which to me where I live is overly familiar and very annoying. So I'm shocked and rush to get Nika, only to see this kid trying to pick Nika up off the floor by his leg. By ONE leg. Like he was a rag doll. And then, to make things worse, as he's man handling my kid delf and I'm still in shock, I hear, over the loud hallway, a metalic Ping! sound coming from Nika's leg, and suddenly his leg obviously pops out of the knee joint at an odd angle.

I, in my sudden rage, nearly took this unsuspecting kid's head off and yelled at him something along the lines of "Don't you touch him!" The outside of Nika's leg through his pants looked horribly broken, and I was almost too terrified to pick him up. I glared at this kid (who knew just as well as the rest of my drama class how much Nika cost) and ignored any apologies he had, and went home, cradling my boy in my jacket.

Once I got home I found nothing but a broken wire in his leg and otherwise he was perfectly fine. The broken end was sticking out of his bent knee, causeing the malformed looking leg. Still, I'm mad at this kid. for making things worse than need be. -_-

    3. I once was super pissed at my girlfriend and ended up throwing her doll.:| Thankfully nothing was broken! They're actulluy alot of stuff that would make some people pass out that I have done to my dolls, (mostly dropping them or faceplants) but throwing one was the worst. They're ALOT tougher than people give them creidt for!

    4. One time I left my dollie on a table near a high-traffic area in our home, and my husband kept telling me to watch out or she'll fall, but I was like in a minute (busy putting in another doll's eyes). Well, someone accidentally hit the table and she *almost* fell and my heart was gonna stop! I jumped and got her, thankfully she was safe! XD

    5. Decided to carve a spare head's cheek a hole in its mouth to 'reveal' tendon and muscle and teeth underneath. Well, uhh, when all you're using is an ornamental letter-opener... I think my hand got more carving than the head did.

Another kind of stupid things I do is when I get introduced to a new kind of tool or medium I go crazy with it. When I first got an ear-pierce drill I went crazy and it was a very hard temptation not to drill needle-thin holes in anything I could. And then sandpaper? Oh boy, nothing was safe from being smoothed out like a baby's bottom - from faces to noses to seams to butts. And then my first knife kit? Oh, that poor test head... And I just got a hold on some apoxy! Oh, imagine the horrors!

    6. I had a ":doh" moment with my floating head last night. I was searching online for some eyes for him and wanted him close by. I had him resting on a pillow on the old wooden storage bench just behind my desk chair (because there wasn't room for him to be on the desk and not be directly in the lamp's light or next to the heat of the computer's fan - see, I really was thinking about his well being...at least up to a point XD).

After a while, I turned around to grab something from behind me and leaned on the hinged lid of the storage bench. I immediately thought to myself, "Uh oh. I probably just disturbed the pillow. Adam's head is about to roll off and hit the floor, isn't it?". Yet, instead of doing something about it, I continued to lean for a few more seconds...and of course, that's all it took. >_<

Somewhere on the hardwood floor at my feet, I heard a crash and a metallic ping. Luckily, he didn't have very far to fall so he wasn't really damaged. Just a tiny smudge at the top of his faceup (easily covered by a wig), and his LUTS headplate popped off the inside of his head (the metallic ping I heard; also easily fixable). But...yeah. Sad that it took that happening for me to understand that a topheavy roundish object shouldn't be precariously placed on a somewhat flat, yet still unstable plush object. :sweat

    7. Ok, this one's not definite, but I'm hoping to bring Emma with me when I do my oral report on Japanese tea ceremony:D - even though Dollmore is a Korean company:lol:

    8. So far, it's been leaving Emma unattended, standing on the windowsil in my room, while I left the room to use the bathroom. She's still standing!

    9. I used dyed cloth for removing faceups with paint thinner, it never really occurred to me that it was dyed at the time. And yea, I freaked out when ith started staining my doll head. I scrubbed the stains as best I could, but there's still some faint discoloration at the side of her head. Good thing it can be hidden by a wig.

I use plain white cloth now. -_-

    10. Mine happened just today. I noticed there was a small chip in one of Ryan's eyebrows. I thought that either he didn't have any sealer over it or it was extremely thin. So I decided to take my acrylic sealer and give him a quick coat to prevent any more loss of eyebrow XD. After he was finished drying I realized he still looked really shiny like he was still wet from the sealer, then I happened to notice I had gotten the gloss sealer, not the flat. So now I have a shiny boy and I'm not really sure what to do about it. On the plus side, he does look really clean...

    11. Two things, I left my poor boys head in some blue tinted nailpolish remover! D: His head was dyed blue and it took some serious sanding to get it out.
The worst was when I had him standing at the top ofthe stairs for photos and my cat goes zipping by. He fell and slinkied down the stairs on to a hardwood floor. No serious damage, but sheesh...

    12. I dropped Trill's head on concrete.
...I now refer to the nick on his cheek as a beauty mark... >///<

    13.
    14. Oh man. Ty has faceplanted more times than I can count. But it was mostly on carpet, except for that one time I did a shoot near some corrugated iron and concrete pavers and he fell over onto the concrete. He had some very faint grazes on his arm that cane out easily enough.

The only other moment worth noticing was when I left him alone standing for a moment, and my (no longer among us) dog walked past. She must have brushed him, because there was a little surprised yelp, and she sulkily came walking around the corner towards me with Ty's hands tangled in her fur, and him being dragged along behind her.

    15. I was standing my EID, had a slip of the hand when I turned to face someone calling me and endured the whole doll crashing down on my forehead, his chest landing first. He was unharmed.

...I had a rather nasty bruise in the middle of my head for the next few days.

    16. I sat Khy on my shoulder once O_o Bad idea. She's so tiny she fell off and landed on my wood floor, thankfully on her back with no scrapes or damage.

    17. After taking her strings out I kicked Reina's head by accident across my room...... no damage! (happy surprised)
      Scared me to DEATH O.O;;

    18. Maybe just seal over the gloss with the flat?

For my stupid, right after I boiled the dent out of my Bory's nose (my little brother had knocked him off the kitchen counter, and he landed nose-first on the tile >_<) I was redoing his face up, and as I'm bringing him inside from the garage (where I was spraying him) I lose my grip and drop him and his head bounces the length of the garage O_O Somehow, he was completely unscathed, not even a nick in the faceup! But I sure keep a good grip on those buggers now.

    19. Cut a wig a bought for her it looks horrible now.

    20. ahahaha, Elias is a little trooper that's how.

Anyways umm only thing i can think of right now is leaving Air standing on concrete unattended. she fell headfirst onto the concrete. luckily she just dented her nose and that was taken care of by boiling.
