Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

    1. I'm not trying this again, but a while back, I was trying to do a photoshoot with my girl playing pool. I left her unattended for a moment to fix something up on the other end of the table and she toppled off the edge. It was like a nightmare in slow-mo, with me lunging across the pool table to grab her.

      Somehow, my pants got stuck on the corner of the table, and got pulled half way down my legs. To top that off, I wasn't able to catch her in time. She faceplanted, but came out unscathed. And I was fortunate my brother happened to walk into the pool room a few seconds after I pulled my pants back up. *_*

    2. not necessarily ridiculous or embarrassing . . but i felt SO bad when my doll got blown over by the wind the other day while i was doing a photoshoot of her > _ < it was the first time that's happend > _ < luckily she's alright though .. the wig got a little dirty, but it's washable ~

    3. ...Used three of my fingers to prevent the (very tight) elastic from slipping into my doll's body when the fork I was using slipped.

      Yes, I'm low-tech.

      And yes, it hurt. A lot.

    4. Cleaning my doll bodies with brush cleaner, without gloves... and my nails were RED... it was bad.

    5. took it to the jetty to take photos and let it fall backward into croc and jellyfish infested water...definitely the stupidest. I had to go get extra clothes layers from the car and go swimming to get him out.
      Another girl at one of our meets had a magnetic hand fall off into croc infested marshland...I watched her fetch from the safety of the viewing platform :)

    6. Dropped my wonderful Mykal, (Shiwoo Vampire) from a table, and he landed, face first onto the pavement. Let's just say....No more Shiwoo Nose......

    7. Within the first year of getting my first doll, I had left her standing on my friend's wobbly kitchen table. I had taken three steps away when I heard this great big crash. I turned around and saw Tomoyo on the floor with her head cap a good foot away from her. x.x;;

    8. Took out the wires from Nemo's joints that her previous owner had in her. I didnt realize how floppy a Resinsoul Ju was til then.. she falls all the time, the poor girl has a hard head though...

      With Sam I had erased his default faceup... which made me love him a bit less for a while. That and during a shoot a candle fell in the water and got wax on him, thankfully it was easy to clean up :/

    9. I was invited out with a bunch of former coworkers for a "girls night out". Sort of like Sex in the City, but I was the gay side kick. Anyway, I brought Mir with me to the sushi restaurant. We had a blast and Mir got me an extra Saki from the Manager who liked BJD.

    10. - Put brand new unstable doll on top of dresser. Fell six seconds after I sat down 2 feet away. On her way down she took a resin fairy statue with her. Broke the statue... Not her. <---She survived this. No scratches or breaks. By far an extremely sturdy doll.*Go DOD!
      - Tried to edit Default faceup. Ended up regretting it and wiping it clean. Regretted it again. <---this was fixable. I do decent faceup work/improving.
      - Straightened a curly default wig. Now it doesnt fit her head. <-- I think this was the stupidest. I just wanted to try it.

    11. After my Elf Ducan impacted his nose, I dyed him tan x.x He's now had his nose fixed and been sanded all the way down (Thank you, Buff~) and is looking more like himself again ^^; Then hours after getting him home, I was carying him and he used his head to open the front door >.< He was fine, but this doll and I have a funny relationship.

    12. I made them pose like the Ginyu Force

    13. Took my DOC Zen to the local ballpark and left him sitting on top of the cabinets in the private box my dad gets for one game a year. My dad didn't realize Mikail was up there and opened the cabinet, knocking him into the steel sink. A fall of maybe 5-6 feet? He broke a finger, but had no damage otherwise. Some superglue fixed it, thankfully!

    14. for a longer lasting hold I'd go with crazy glue
      in my experience, super glue is okay at best for gluing resin and plastic

      • I imagine I will buckle my doll into the front seat of my car if I ever take them out with me to school...
      • Not realizing until after the fact that her underwear was showing in all those awesomely done pics (sometimes even when I do try to take precautions)
      • Thinking I could restring her myself, and not even being able to remove her head:doh
      • (my favorite) Thinking that the wig I took off to change her wig for the first time will be easier to put on again (ended up taking 1/2 an hour)

    15. Oh I got one and it just happened yesterday >__<;

      Soom's Ai hooves have the huge design flaw of having extremely limited poseability and not the greatest balance to boot. So you must be really careful when trying to pose a doll who's wearing them... I am not one of these people xAx;

      I sat him down on the edge of a table in our living that sits on the hardwood floor next to my other, much more stable, MSDs.
      I moved the MSD closest to him and. Splat. XAX.
      My poor little Jeremy faceplanted RIGHT on the hardwood floor! What was I thinking, I knew he couldn't sit very well on edges!
      Even worse, I was around non-doll people at the time so it looked... kind of weird when I was panicking slightly XD;

      Amazingly, though, little Germy seems totally accustomed to my stupidity and didn't even have a dent on him when I picked him up. Thank god! DX I'm still checking him over, worried sick that I'll find a nick on his nose or something. It just seemed so impossible for him to come out unscathed like that XD;

    16. Oh man. Totally didn't even think about it. I have a drafting table that I had titled up at an angle just a few days ago. While playing with my girl (who had just gotten new heels) I set her up standing on the drafting table. And walked away.

      About two seconds later there's a THUD and I whirl around with my hand uselessly outstretched to catch her (even though I'm 10 feet away). Luckily nothing bad happened as she managed to fall into a pile of fabric. But taught me to think about what I'm doing a bit more, that's for sure!

    17. Vegablack and I first had a meet up at the mall and we walked around target with our dolls and made them sit on piggie banks. It was kind of epic but Nori didn't appreciate the gesture... Then we played the ''what can they fit in'' game in the appliance isle.

    18. Left my girl in beautiful black clothes without color-fasting them... Thank goodness for Mr. Clean Magice Eraser!

    19. Let my youngest boy stood on the floor with many of sand... And yes, he falt down. Thanks god he was fine!
