Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

1. My two boys sleep in my bed with me, but I'm always careful to position them against the wall with pillows where they are safely out of the way (it might seem strange that I keep my dolls in my bed, but I've ALWAYS kept stuff in my bed, not just stuffed animals but books, papers, clothes, my laptop—it's a weird habit). Anyway, I must have positioned Seff oddly last night, or maybe I was just snoring loudly and he wanted me to shut up, but he somehow managed to wake me up by kicking me right in the butt, and he's got these clunky boots with inch-high platforms on. It was not a pleasant way to wake up

2. Earlier I was lounging around on the couch, and I had a soda on the table to the right of the couch, and Raven was sitting on the edge of the table in front of the couch, and I forgot that the soda was there and accidentally kicked it (hahaha), which sent soda spraying everywhere -- on the floor, on my sister's legs, and some on each table, but miraculously none on Raven. She somehow managed to survive the soda-volcano by mere millimeters! It was my first instinct to check if she had gotten splashed, and my sister (who was in the midst of playing Guitar Hero and therefore couldn't attend to her soda-covered legs) was slightly insulted xD

3. Stupidest thing I've done....

When Kloey first came she was really loose and would flop over a lot when I tried to stand her up. So I bought some new string and we redid her and all was good. But when we went to put her head back on I realized my husband had made the knot to big and we had to fight to push it through the neck hole. So I grabbed Kloeys head to push down and my husband yelled WATCH IT!! I looked and saw my finger covering her one eye... the makeup smudged a little... now she looks like she got hit :(

My poor girl...

4. I wanted to go and try to give Mii-tan a new face-up. I was using magic sponge but it was taking too long and difficult. So I tried to use nail polish remover. I only used it for a bit {on her nose and a tiny bit on her forehead} when I remembered that the nail polish remover was tinted blue. >.< I immediately washed and towel dried it and looked if there were blue stains. Miraculously, there where no blue marks but the tip of her nose is a tad bit whiter. Ever since then, I tried to be me more patient when removing face-ups. ^_^; And yeah, I really can't do eyebrows... >.>

5. About a couple of months after I got my Minoruworld Minoru, Liam, I'd decided to take the dolls downstairs for some reason. Feeling lazy I loaded my arms up with my three msds and then, not really thinking about it, popped Liam on top of them and headed for the stairs. Our house has this floating spiral staircase that you have to go down pretty carefully or risk falling, so at the top I leant forward to look down at the first step and Liam promptly slid off my arms and fell through the gap in the staircase to the tiled floor below...

Apart from a small black scuff mark on his forehead (that came off with a quick swipe of a magic eraser) he was perfectly fine. My nerves were wrecked though XD

6. After having it happen with two dolls before, I really should've learned the lesson about positioning dolls in kissing poses for photoshoots and how they end up damaging each other's faceups :sweat Now I have six dolls with varying degrees of chipped/scratched MSC/paint *_*

Love among BJDs is very dangerous indeed.

7. I was a daredevil once.. I removed a (in my eyes) perfect default face up off Kuro's face.. and made one myself.. It looked pretty awesome: It was a black and white jester like face up.. painted..
2 days or so later I went to visit my best friend and knew her mother was terrified of real-looking dolls (after seeing Chucky she never was the same xD) So I decided to give him a casual face up (my profile picture)
When I rubbed off the paint with no-acetone-nailpolish-remover I saw a little mark of the paint..
After doing several face ups more it is still there.. luckily it isn't really noticable if you don't know it ;)

I also coated his eyes once.. I facepalmed myself pretty hard because I planned them for a cosplay the next day.. >_____<;;; (I will try the gloss coating I read in this topic ;) )

I scratched off a little bit of Mephisto's eyebrow while putting a hair-clip in his hair to keep it from falling in front off his eyes.. (he looked hilarious though xD and I was allready planning to re-do his face up if I get more MSC so it isn't that big a deal)

When I got Kuro for a couple of weeks I still hadn't got any shoes so I took him outside with only his socks on xD right on that day I met 1 BJD lover and one owner who offered me shoes and some small stuff she didn't use xD (the shoes didn't fit sadly enough V___V but I made my friend Lizzerd happy with them ^^)

And once I was at a BJD meet on a convention and there was a 70cm doll at the back of a big photoshoot of all the dolls there.. and he suddenly fell straight backwards with a tiny in his arms.. Everybody was shocked and like: OMG! HE JUST FELL! IS HE ALLRIGHT? and I had a hard time keeping in my laughter (even though I would be shocked myself if it was Kuro, who was luckily sitting on the ground then xD)

But I'm seriously terrified Kuro or Mephi breaks if they fall or something O_O;; Even if my Living Dead Dolls topple over my heart skips a beat.. and they're made of plastic xD

8. use msc semigloss instead of flat to coat my first faceup. :/

remove eyelashes and earrings stuck on my doll with glue without rehydrating the glue, thereby removing msc in the process. luckily, i was going to redo the faceup so it was okay.

bring 2 SDs out, intending to hand carry them the whole day. it was just crazy man. i almost dropped dennis when he decided to not sit straight on my arm and went backwards. luckily my friend and another doll owner was there to help catch him before he slid off my arm. i'm never going to try that again. =3=

9. I do the same exact thing! xD I've slept with glueguns, papers, laundry... occasionally when I sew I use my bed to lay out fabric and there will be pins in there. One time, I slept on top of a battery and didn't notice until I woke up. And another time there was broken glass I was unaware of... luckily I made it out unscathed.

So yeah, my dolls sleep with me, too...

10. I put Leu on the edge of my desk once. I reached over to get something, moved him with my elbow, and he fell down...into the trash can. Thank goodness there was nothing in it, it was actually rather funny, but still, how silly!

11. i left my dolls alone with my boyfriend...:|

12. In at least a couple of cases sell it. But I would say in more then 50 cases buy it. Sorry but sometimes esp. in the beginning I not only jumped to get a doll, I then had to sell it to recover on CC. But 8/10 it was all for good reasons to sell. But that rare case of selling one over another or making it happen another way caused me to loose a couple I wish I still had.

13. sanded one of my dolls with low grit sandpaper to get off a ruined dye job.... NEVER AGAIN! all my dolls are being unmodified from now on....

14. I'd have to say I feel the same way - dumbest thing I've done in some cases is buy some of the dolls I've owned. Especially in those cases where you feel you've stretched your budget too much and feel so much guilt and worry over a mystery bill popping up that you sell right away to feel better about your finances. /facepalm

15. I held the lovely girl on hands. Its palm could clasp a finger. I have put the forefinger in its palm. I have reflected and began to rotate a finger. Its palm remained with me on a finger. To me it was very terrible! It has appeared, her hands on magnets О_О

16. I left Hireki standing once and he fell and broke his ear... But it's not too bad because I'd had to take them off earlier because someone's redone them at a funny angle (ginormous elf ears, btw) and they broke at the place where I'd glued them on and his hair hides that part anyway...

When he was just a head on a cloth body, though, I got him to hang onto a weeping willow branch, those thin vertical stringy branches, and did a photoshoot of him dangling there.

Still not sure what possessed me to do that....

17. When I first got Frederick I kept stroking his abs and...other parts of him xD

18. This made me lol so much!

19. My doll's hands are attached by a ring+clasp system, not magnets or s-hooks. My brother and I tried to take his hands off a couple days ago... He was pulling the elastic out with a ribbon, and I was in charge of fiddling with the clasps. His hand came off fine, but I forgot the thread the ribbon through the wrist joint and...whoops! It somehow got stuck on the clasp. I got it off with my mom a little later, but it suffered a little scratching... Nothing major, but you can feel it. I'll never forget about the ribbon again. XD;;;

20. When it comes to my girls,I'm overly cautious, but I've still managed some dumb things.

1) When I got my first girl (OT dal),I was taking her out of her packaging and her leg popped off. Scared me half to death! I thought I had broke her for good, but it they're kinda supposed to do that I guess.

2) My 3rd girl,Asuka (47cm obitsu), amused me greatly when she first came in since I had not ordered her head yet. When I took her out of the box for the first time,I held her up to my torso to understand how big she really was. I'm short,ok? So her body, minus a head, is the exact length of my torso and it looks like my head is her's.

3) Asuka has plenty of stories actually. I felt like such a creeper carrying her around headless. I was called "Wednesday" for months.

4) Last one,I swear. Asuka has magnets in her feet and I had placed her on her metal plate stand on my dresser. I thought she was secure,so I went to bed.Bout 30 minutes later,I was scared half to death by the loud crashing noise! I think you can guess what it was. ;^_^;
