Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

    1. Same here! Almost everything hazardous ends up in my bed while I'm asleep: sewing needles, pens, pins, pencils, paint bottles, doll clothes, velcro,a doll or two,etc

    2. I've had good luck so far but, now that I have my girl, I seem to be losing all sense. The first day I got her, I couldn't get her head back on (I had to take it off to change her eyes) since she's strung so tight. Now, all my dolls are strung this way so I am used to using pliers to get the S-hook back up and all is usually good. BUT, I forgot to hold her body down like usual so her body went flinging upwards and her head fell to the floor. Luckily, I have carpet or who knows what would've happened. She still has a tiny scratch in her faceup, though. Luckily, it's in her eyebrow and barely noticable.

But, then to make things worse, a mere eight days later, I was trying to get an earring turned necklace around her neck and GOUGED HER NECK! I literally facepalmed because it was fairly obvious the earring wouldn't go around but I was stubborn. My poor girl!

    3. With my girl, she's got this weird kneckpiece. The first time I put her head on it,it went swimingly, but then I had to take her head off to take her for her faceup. Dumbdumb me just started yanking on it till the kneckpiece popped in two and her head went flying. Luckily I didn't rip the screw thing and the kneckpiece was fine.

    4. We took Halo out and tried to get a photo of her "choosing" a stuffed animal at Target. Her leg kicked out and somehow managed to knock over an entire display rack. Luckily, she had a nice soft pile of stuffed critters to land on when I tried to catch the display rack and dropped her.

    5. hmmm nothing so far.. though I accidentally thrown away the face mask :S

    6. I put my favorite girl on my bed, forgot she was there, and later threw a belt onto me bed. I remembered she was there when I heard the distinctive sound of metal against resin:eek:. Luckily she was fine.

    7. Probably in my younger days of doing face-ups, checking if the MSC was dry with a finger. Obviously it wasnt, and I had a nice fingerprint mark there :D

    8. I was showing Xade to a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in years and she didn't understand the whole doll hobby. She asked me to hold his upper body for a moment and she played with the legs so he looked really silly. Then she asked if he was 'detailed' if you get my drift. I was so proud to have xade that I imidiately went "Yeah, of cource" And showed her.
After she left I realized Xade was probably really embarased and pissed of :P
I'm a terrible doll owner >.< I've been trying to make it up to him ever since.

    9. I am usually very careful with my dolls but I really did it today. Last night I took Audrina (RS Lian) down to take some pics of her with a different wig. I felt bad because I hadn't played with her in so long so I let her stand next to the bed. Well I fell asleep and when I awoke the next morning, I got up and knocked her right to the ground! She got a big black mark right on her forehead! Most of it came off with magic eraser but still!!! I am so upset and now I can't go to sleep because she will probably "get" me tonight...

    10. clearly the most dumbest thing i ever did.....was sell out of desperation two dolls i had bonded with....
      >__<

    11. I used dark blue ribbon to help me string Emma. Oddly enough, it didn't do as much harm as you would imagine. It actually stained the wrist a little, but only because I pulled it out of the wrist a certain way.

I also decided to carry my doll in a plastic bag last week. This was actually a good decision since it rained like hell the day I took her out. I also decided to keep her the wig off of the head, and I think I had a senior moment because the headcap fell out of the wig cap, and I didn't take it with me. She had to be headless for my class presentation, which I'm sure earned some looks.

Then (if I didn't mention this before) there was that strange idea I had that putting a long wig on would take less effort than putting a short wig on. Dollmore sent me a second wig for free when I got Emma (maybe because I didn't order any extra wigs or eyes?) but even when I didn't like it, I wanted to see how she looked in it. So, I took the long wig she had off (the one I'd specified she come with), and tried to maneuver the short wig on. Seeing no luck, I decided to put the first wig on again. THAT took me about a 1/2 hour before I could get it on her head the right way. Now it takes me, like, a minute - tops?

Oh, wait: also, I wanted to have Emma with me while I was at my computer. She was on top of my couch, and I totally forgot she was there. My dad came out to watch TV. When I decided to reposition myself, I ended up knocking Emma over onto the lap desk I was using, and then when I tried to reposition her, I ended up knocking her head on the mirror below the couch. Her head made this really loud 'thud' sound, and my dad got mad at me because he knows how much my doll cost, and disapproved the entire time.

    12. I had Hadrian standing on my desk, suddenly he went fell back, his head cap hit the shelf behind him just at the right spot to knock his headcap off and right into my mug of pop. It went all over my keyboard and I was terrified I'd hurt him.

    13. Dumbest thing? Probably the things I've done to their faces. I used a Mr. Clean eraser on my (at the time only) boy, on the face, and he has a factory face-up. Amazingly nothing bad happened. That kid was sealed with magic or something, cause I'd done that multiple times and nothing's come off ^^ And yet, when I used a moist paper towel on my other boys, their face-ups smudge -.-; Fortunately those were my own (rather bad) face-ups.

I've also left one standing on a bookshelf, left the house, and didn't realize what I'd done til I came home again and saw him still standing there. And I've left one doll carrying the other while standing, unsupported, then walked away, back turned, to adjust the light. They must love me lots, cause they didn't fall until after I got my pictures and was there to catch them.

    14. I've accidentally knocked my big boy off the arm of the lounge chair about 4 or 5 times now...most of the time he sits there fine...but sometimes he just jumps off! Thankfully he's not been damaged despite falling on a small coffee table every single time.

I also am rather prone to tipping my dolls upside down to check the fit of their wigs. If i can flip them upside down and shake gently and their wigs don't come off then i'm happy.

oh...and if i need to carry all 3 of my dolls i flop my two 70 cm's over my shoulders and carry my little one in my hands...i'm not very big so i can't carry all 3 in my arms without dropping them.

    15. I took my Volks Hijikata outside for his very first photos, found the perfect spot - an old crooked little house with lots of thorn bushes, tendrils and leaves. I battled myself through all those thorn tendrils, with Hijikata and camera in my arms and finally reached a nice windowsill where I placed my boy. Unfortunately I didn't see that he was sitting on some plants which reached down to the crooked floor... Looking for the best view for the pictures I moved around watching him through the camera and stepped on the plant he was sitting on. I remember my Mom shouting from behind - Hijikata was SO close to fall down!! :o No accident happened, but I still feel the shock.

Another stupid action with my dolls was when I did the faceup for one of my MSDs. He looked so beautiful, I felt it was the best work I ever did, and when I wanted to finish him - just a little lip gloss and he would be finished - I mistook the acrylic retarder for the gloss bottle............:doh

    16. By far the dumbest thing I've ever done was with my Thinking Kara Klum from Dollmore...I had just finished him, he had the best faceup I'd ever done at that point and looked amazing. I was messing with one of my other ones so I had him (this is where the stupidity kicks in) standing behind me while I was in my chair, which is an office desk chair and spins. I was holding a huge, heavy pair of metal scissors and spun around in the chair really fast to put them away behind me....and cracked Alex (II) right in the face with them. That has to be the worst sound on the planet when involving dolls D:

Luckily Dolmore must make my Kara Klums out of some indestructible material that only looks like resin, (otherwise they'd all be piles of dust by now) because there didn't seem to be much damage. The faceup chipped off his nose but I was able to fix it.
A year later the faceup chipped again in the same place and while trying to repair it I finally found the actual damage in the form of a dent (not a chip thank god) on his nose. So I cleaned the faceup off *sob* and gave him a quick boiling and he's fine now :)

I'm also good for leaving them (my poor Kara Klums again) standing unattended at dollmeets and hanging out in other rooms....every time I hear the crash I don't even have to ask what it was. The first time, I headed into the room (I knew right when it happened but I had to look anyway) to find everyone crowded around Alex (I) looking for damage...They all started apologizing like it wasn't my fault for leaving him there.
      "He just fell!"
Me: Oh he's fine. He does this all the time....
"But he hit the ground really hard!"
Me: No really, he's ok. Trust me, they don't break. (this is the doll I smashed into a metal pole once)
I inspected him for damage and found all his earrings all over the floor...but that was it XD I'm telling you, they're tough.

The last time one of them fell (the thinking one again - he's very unlucky) was one of my more stupid moments. Again at a meet, he was standing in a crowd of other standing doll that were not mine. Every time I think of the disaster that could have caused....*dies*
More luck on my part, somehow when he went down he missed everything! Not one doll was injured or even touched. I don't think the props were knocked over either which is some kind of miracle cause there were a lot of props.

I can't count the number of times I've accidentally flung their heads across the room (My MD Ryu should be collecting frequent flier miles. For real, I can't hold onto that head to save my life).

Another thing I like to do is not wait long enough in between coatings of MSC....then start drawing away with water color pencils. That's not a good idea btw....

Despite all this none of my dolls have any serious damage (except for a MNF head I dropped that actually broke :\ none of them got hurt from falling/being dropped). I'm pretty sure most of them are in perfect shape XDD

    17. fell off a bench at the Morikami gardens meetup dropping two of my girls in the process, and ruining a brand new faceup. All i could do was laugh or i would have cried.... next time i will make sure the bench is under my tush first!

    18. after I was done sueding my dollmore kids I had them standing on the table for the rest of the day. I knew i should have taken them off the table when mom got home. sure enough first time mom walks massed the table, aki did a summmersault head first off the table.

no damage at all, his piercings even stayed in place. his head cap had only gone flying.

    19. ...mainly just stolen his wig and worn it as a hat O.o

    20. A while ago I took my AoD Qian out to take pictures of her new clothes. There was a nice pond in the city park and I thought it was a great idea to let her stand next to the water. I went some steps back and recognized it was quite windy. Stupid thing #1: I thought she won't fall over. Stupid thing #2: I haven't seen the large, sharp stone next to her....
(It should be obvious what happened next)
She fell over and the stone hit her face and back. Luckily, there wasn't much damage, just a little scratch on her chin and left shoulder but I almost started to cry when I saw what happened.
