Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

    1. Sat Tovi on our rabbit's back so he was riding it. It was fine before the rabbit moved. Then I thought I'd be able to get a better pic but the rabbit didn't like having Tovi on his back so he sorta bucked and Tovi fell off backwards. On a tile floor. Luckily he didn't get hurt. :sweat Not that it was by any means the worst fall he's taken. Not even the worst one on tile. I always have him nearby when I'm sewing for him and he's taken a couple nosedives off the couch when someone sits near him. I'm just lucky I guess.

    2. I forgot to make sure he was pushed all the way back on the shelf above my bed one night before going to sleep and my dear Soren decided it was a good idea to body slam me in the middle of the night and give me a heartattack... after I made sure nothing was damaged on him. Then I checked myself for wounds haha

    3. Tried to sand down amadine's eyewells without knowing how and I nicked her eyesockets. The putty is drying now -_-;;

    4. Stupidest thing I did? Oh Gosh. My first doll...LatiBlue..Yern made a awesome dress for her. Left her laying on the bed. Somehow she SLID down on the HARDWOOD floor. Thank goodness nothing was broke.
Went to friends house.Left her standing on their kitchen table. She has two small ones. Stupid thing 1.Thinking she would not fall. 2. Leaving her unattended. Lets say...she never leaves my sight now unless shes sitting. >>
Left her standing on top of bookshelf. I was definately not thinking that day >.>; Turned my back to go to kitchen...came back, she was on one side of the room...headcap on the other. But thankfully no damage. Go Lati! xD

    5. my most stupidist was restringing and really not paying attention and guessing which limbs went where (really dont normally do this) and when i finished realized that arms and legs wqere both on wrong sides. only the legs were much more noticeable.

    6. One time I was holding up my Elfdoll Soah and she plopped forward and head budded me. One thing to say RESIN HURTS. xD

    7. Let's count:

      1. I scratched Haru's brand new faceup....twice..... >.>
      2. restrung a doll so the legs were opposite of what they should be
      3. restrung and forgot a piece
      4. was holding my luts head and trying to put a magnet in it and dropped it on the tile floor.... BUT THE RESIN GODS LOVED ME BECAUSE NOT ONE SCRATCH/CHIP/DENT in his head *phew*
      5. Cleaning my msd boy's parts and chipped his thigh after dropping it onto the tile >.>

    8. After having my doll for ONE day, I can contribute to this.

I was gluing the magnets in my Teschen's head with elmers glue, and thought the glue had dried when I put the head cap back on.
SUddenly theres this "clunk-unk' noise and I open up his head to find both magnets attached to his s-hook :doh

Then today I tried again, this time with superglue.
I got the first magnet in fine, but when I put the glue on the second and went to stick it in his head, it went flying to the outside of his headcap, still covered in glue! :o
Luckily the glue landed on the opposite side, and it then dawned on me to put the glue in the headcap first, then stick in the magnet :doh

    9. Mine doesn't technically count as a BJD, but I think that I can post here anyway. For me, the dumbest thing I've done is leaving him sitting on the edge of a table. It was a tiny table, so my friend's aunt came by and moved the table without moving the doll, so the doll fell off. Nothing bad happened though.

    10. Took Näri to pieces yesterday, and then realized I couldn't do her body-blushing because it was raining, and that I really didn't know how to put her back together.. XD Well, I'll figure it out.

    11. I don't know if you would consider this stupid or just unknowing. Bought an on time Ai dolls Customhouse Gaby, the ones you have to put together yourself. Didn't look up the instructions on how to do it until 1 hour later when I was frustrated. Finally got him together....Yeah! so proud.

2 weeks later, wonder why his legs don't work right.....duh! hip joints on the wrong sides.....unstring, fix, string again.
another 2 weeks pass.....why are his arms odd..Mom says "Are you sure they are on the right side?"....OMG....*slaps head* and we are back to unstringing, fix, and restringing.

Amazingly....he now looks and works perfectly......*shakes head*

    12. Lol yeah... When I first got Orchis, I was at A-kon (ANIME CONVENTION YEAAAAH) and I was excited to get to know how his body worked, and how he would interact with Daniel, who had been mine for many months. So, of course, I started posing them together on a little ledge by a window (closed, thankfully) and almost all of it was soft carpet EXCEPT where I needed them to stand so they would balance on the window, which was metal.

They were perfectly fine for minutes when someone suddenly sat down nearby and they went flying into the metal. o_O I was like "OH SH-" and grabbed them, checking them over. I didn't find any damage, but still, certainly not a fun experience. And the sound they made, I could've believed both their heads shattered to pieces.

      *Pets both of them*

    13. I was doll-sitting my friend's boy and sat him on the roof of my car while I sat some things down on the passenger seat. Not thinking, (or paying attention), I slammed the door right on his legs. I almost had a heart-attack. If there's anything I can say for that batch of DoD resin, it's really really strong. His legs didn't even dent or scratch. Took a while to return my heart rate to normal though.

    14. My stupidest thing I've ever done? Trusted Afanasiy to stand on his own on stone floor. He fell and squished his nose.
Suffice to say, a description of his personality is 'lazy' now. Anywhere outside or far from cushions, he's only going to be leaning or sitting from now on!

Ah, I also restrung his legs wrong once causing him to not be able to sit properly. Though, when he was sitting, his legs starting at his hips could only bend towards his back. It was hilarious.

    15. I chased some poor innocent kid at A-Kon last weekend and practically forced him to have his photo taken with Kiddo because they were wearing matching costumes. I think the poor boy was afraid to say know, but Kiddo looks terminally pissed at me in the photo.

    16. Haha, yeah, the same happened to me with my turquoise polish. I took to Endrance with nail polish remover. Thank god it was on an unblushed part of him.

    17. stupidest thing ive ever done with my bjd?

well i decided to carry my jolly plus arbor kozi all around for a 3-day convention
it was so stupid because jolly plus has like the THICKEST resin ever ive never wighed him
but seriously after an hour of holding him i was done
i had no bag to carry him and no way in hell i was letting him out of my sight
after i got back from the 3-days of hell i couldnt feel my arms for 4 days
      oooouuuchhh!

    18. Nothing big, but once I was sitting down and holding Kii by the hips, and he just leaned forward and headbutted me. XD It was more funny then anything else, I still laugh about it.

    19. So far - Improving a faceup. Only one out of the three times Ive tried it has it ever succeeded.

Most recently though? Using industrial superglue to give Alexei his snakebites. First, the glue turned white and made him look like he either had rabies or frostbite. Then, while trying to get it off again for his upcoming new faceup, I had to alternate between acetone, sandpaper, a pin, freezing his head, and scrubbing more acetone. I managed to get all of it off, and thankfully it didn't ruin the resin - But it was still a pain in the ass to remove.

    20. Someone once posted a pattern-making tutorial where they suggested covering your doll in masking tape, drawing the lines, and then using a razor to cut the tape off. Ideally one would then have perfectly tailored pieces for a pattern.

The method sounded a little risky to me, but one day I decided to give it a try anyway. I was super careful, but the pieces did not come off neatly and Aurora wound up with a centimeter-ish long scar from the razor. :(
