Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Stupidest thing you've ever done with your BJD?

Aug 17, 2005

    1. Hmmm well I looked at my first doll (lust dahlia) and thought I want to you to be blue. So I went out bought some rit dye and proceeded to dye her. What I failed to do was research on how to do it properly. So needless to say the dye didn't take and she turned out splotchy. The fortunate thing was most of the stains came out, she has a few on her face, so she is now currently a geisha till I can figure out is I want to sand the stains out.

    2. Neykon kicks me. A lot. (once in the face)
And I pinch myself in his knees ALL. THE. TIME.
You'd think I'd learn how to avoid these sorts of incidents...

    3. 1) my SD dolls are currently sitting on a high shelving unit above my bed...I am short so normally I have to stand on my bed to reach them. I wanted to show my brother something about one of my dolls and was being lazy, so as I told him that he was NEVER allowed to handle my dolls like this I grabbed one by the legs and tried to get her off the shelf in sitting position by lifting up then pulling toward myself...Needless to say she flopped back and smacked her head on the wall...I felt really stupid

      2) I could kill myself for this one...at a recent meet I set my sd boy down, standing on brick. He was doing fine and he is normally a great stander, so I went to arrange my puki on some leaves behind him before posing him...I finish this, look down and realize that Andre has kicked one of his legs and is currently standing on one leg with the other knee bent. Instead of grabbing him then before he fell I made a quip to the other meet attendees about how great a poser he was while I reached up and fixed my pony tail. Almost before I was finished bragging, with the other people looking on and my hands occupied, Andre face planted on the brick...The jerk...anywho, he got grass stains and a small gouge in his forehead that I will have to remove his faceup and try to pop out...I am really upset with myself

    4. When I took out my doll head for wear head cap,I slip my hand and head in fall to floor and roll around.0_0 I very shock but thanks god after I check it,not thing broke or scratch.=3=b

    5. facedown saber lily because the stand don't fitting enough T_T

    6. Well here I sit at 230 am and I have an entry to make. Note: do not try to make molds of feet in the wee hours of the morn. It is very easy to mix up the container of mold material and the plaster. My poor RS Yu was stuck feet down in a container of....Plaster. I had to carve her poor feet out of the strong cast plaster that wouldn't even shatter using a hammer.

After 1 hour or so...I finally had the poor feetsies out, but not without damage. Sanding time ahead.

I felt like a complete idiot. Still do actually.

    7. Trying to manipulate the arrival date so that he can have the birthday I want (I usually use arrival dates as their birthday), even if it means having to delay seeing him for days or weeks if he could have arrived earlier. I tried once on my tiny and he was a day TOO early because my dad was too anxious to collect my parcel (=.=), but I am trying to manipulate the arrival date of the other one who is still a work in progress though XD

I know I can just give him any birthday I want, but having his arrival date as his birthday AND the day I want seems so much more special (silly me!) >w<

    8. The dumbest thing I did was toss a black colored pencil in Rooney's direction.
Of course I tossed it in the one direction near his face.
It made a black dot near his eyebrow but thank goodness it was watercolor and it came right off.
      I almost had a heartattack. T^T

    9. I Have 2 stupid moments in under a week.
      1. I just got my special SD16 girl Daria. Her headplate was knocked off in shipping, so I figure it is no problem to glue it back on. I grab some Gorilla Glue and stick it back on no problem. I waited for it to dry, then put her wig cap on, then her wig. The next day, I remove her wig and I see that the wig cap is super glued to the head plate! The glue had leeched out and clouded up the plate and glued the wig cap. I was able to use enamel thinner to get the wig cap off, but not without totally destroying the wig cap and chipping some of the resin on the back of her head. It was pretty stupid.

      2. I took my special SDC Gretel to visit my mother in law. She has this beautiful fountain in front of her house and I thought it would be nice to take a picture of her with the fountain behind her. She was standing very strongly on the edge. I pick up my camera to take the shot, when she kicks her leg out and swan dives backwards into the fountain. I grab her quickly, but she was totally submerged! Everything got soaked, but thankfully I took her apart quickly and let her dry. In the process, her headplate fell off! :doh

Volks, I see a pattern here!

    10. i don't now how to put Dakota's head cap back on without it falling off....his hat holds it on

    11. A few nights ago I was just going to bed when I saw there was a mosquito on one of my dolls head. I hate having a mosquito sucking on me all night so I went to kill it. Well the mosquito dodged, so I just ended up smacking my doll on the head.

    12. Well, a while back I went out of town and left my wonderful Chitose in his box with his wig on. When I got back, he had a ring stained onto his crown. D:

    13. Well when holding my boy I tend to rub his chest and creepily say "My precious.." O_O

    14. Ugh... leaving one of my girls with my mom. :( I had the deputy service send me a doll when I was visiting my family, as I'd be there a while. When the time came to leave, I decided to ship my doll and some other gifts directly back to Germany.

I packed up two boxes, but I wasn't able to mail them before I got on the plane. So my mom had them in the back of her SUV because she'd taken me to the airport. I made her promise to take the boxes out when she got home so that they wouldn't sit in the heat (southern New Mexico in Oct is still very hot and the doll was vinyl).

I got home and she complained that the boxes were taking up room in her car. I begged her to mail them immediately. Two whole months went by, and finally I involved my sisters and my Dad, and between them they managed to get my boxes shipped in January.

Luckily, the only damage that happened was her eyelash glue melted and they fell out. So now I have to figure out how to glue them back in. It could have been a lot worse (warped head, melted face-up, yellowed sealant?), but still. :(

And to top it all off, my mom said "I mailed your boxes, the shipping costs are your Christmas present". :| I had left money with her to mail them. And it was my dad who actually did it.

So yeah, I'm never doing THAT again. :doh

    15. The stupidest thing i've ever done? Well one time i was balancing Genly on my table, and i thought i had secured him...He popped over and i lost the top of his head for about two weeks! He looked really silly sans-skull until i found it.

    16. From the beginning I felt my second bjd, Edgar was jealous of Jeremy, because it wasn't until recently that I've actually bonded with him. Before the bonding however, there was an instance where I had Jeremy sitting on my desk while I was holding Edgar. I went to put him beside Jeremy and before I could even pose him, he launched forward and nearly headbutted him. I literally had to pull him back. XD

    17. I was trying to paint my doll face up without my glass(it broke) at night.

You can guess what happen next huh? XD the faceup look great without my glass on but in the morning with contact on I realize there were dirt all over and I had to start all over

    18. For me.... lets see probably when i had only had my girl for awhile, she was really prone to pitching forward randomly. I was sitting cross legged on my bed with her on my leg and her wooden clothing box right in front of her while i worked on brushing her wig.
Some little voice in my head told me to move the box, but of course i didn't and as i was about to finish up she naturally pitched forward and smacked her head right on the box.

For a minute i was sure she must've chipped her nose or cracked her poor little head (the whole stunned for a moment thing) but despite the loud WHACK she made, she had no damage, not even to her face up XD.

Another was i had my pastels out and hadn't realized i had BRIGHT blue pastel all over the bottom of my finger and accidentally brushed it against her nose. I managed to get it all off but not without some panic it might stain her.

    19. Taking my first doll to Memphis. In August.

Bigger mistake? I actually took her outside...

    20. I put silly band rings on my DD Yukino...they stained her wrists permanently. Suffice to say she no longer wears silly bands.

I also learned not to use marker to mark fabric when I'm sewing clothing for her.
