1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Style of BJD you thought you didn't like but ended up liking later?

    1. Didn't think I would end up liking boy dolls seeing as I only have girls, but lately I've been looking into this one specific guy and feel like I might end up getting him in the future.

    2. I can't really say I set any hard lines for myself on what I will/won't add to my collection back in 2007-08 when I first got into the hobby. I was still in a Pullip & Co phase, and was content with the one MSD girl I had. Fast forward several years, and I came back to the hobby with a strong fixation on restarting the hobby by scaling up. Mostly in the SD-70cm+ range.

It took a year or so after that to really start setting hard rules on what I will/won't add into my crew. First was focusing more on the SDs—don't add any more MSDs, none will catch my interest. Broke that with a few; my Lumedoll Atik is particularly special to me, and I hope to someday pick up an in-scale male companion for him. The other that broke that rule and stuck around (one other did break the rule, but I eventually moved them onto another home) is a bit of a double whammy in this situation.

What might be that other rule that was broken, you ask? Never bring in a Fairyland doll. To this day I still have little interest in a majority of their dolls, but I did develop a soft spot for MNF Mika/Mir. The OC she's shelled as has a twin brother who I'd like to eventually pick up another Mika/Mir to shell him as.

Beyond that, I have shifted styles over the years. I went from the more semi-stylized, similar to Pullip & Co. to more realistic with a fantasy lean (elf ears for the win!). I didn't really set do not get lists for companies, brands, styles, etc outside the aforementioned. Yeah, I'm not really inclined toward anime-style dolls, or more stylized ones in general— but I've remained neutral on them overall. I don't desire getting any, but it's nothing like that whole Fairyland thing.

I mainly collect based on OCs/specific existing characters, and if that means shifting styles a bit to make them work—I've left my options open. :kitty2

    3. I didn't really like non-anime sculpts for some reason when I started out (because I am mega weeb trash). I didn't think I would ever get non-anime sculpts. Then the DZ Yin-Long and DV kemonomimi sculpts came into my awareness, and I fell in love! I really do want to get more non-anime sculpts in the near future!

    4. When I started the hobby around 2008-2009 I did not think I would like sleepy / half closed eye dolls. It's funny, because my second doll back in the day was Dollmore Thinking Larme, which has sleepy eyes. Now majority of my dolls look like they are half a sleep and I think I actually prefer them or at least gravite towards sleepy heads... oops!
Also when I was starting the hobby I did not think I would own female dolls or maybe just one. I did not own a female doll for many many years, but then something happened in 2021 and now I have almost as many ladies as I have guys.
