Sugarble Limiteds discussion part 1

Mar 1, 2010

    1. Congrats Iron_Dog, I hope to see lots of photos when he arrives.

I really like the emerald tail and orange tail, though I was thinking that it would look cool if the naga tail tip was modified to be a mermaid tail.

Since there will be more incoming snakes/naga from this release, I've updated my database photo, still not the best or totally finished but it's better than the original.

    2. I'm tinkering with the idea of purchasing a sugarble doll (this cutie: http://www.sugarbledoll.com/shop/step1.php?number=112#good4) this year because it's the most beautiful body for that size (I don't like very, very childish bodies >.<).
Now...but the hip joints are somehow strange and I'm questioning if I could get lucky with it. Are the joints really sooo bad or is it quite ok to live with?

Do you know if the sugarble-bodies can wear hooves like the Soom Afi/Ai-hooves or the Peapod hooves? This would be the cherry on the cake :D

    3. Holy crap, guys! My naga boy was delivered this morning! Of course, I'm at work and won't get to open the box until I get home after 5, but yea! The Hubby was home to accept delivery and he says that there is a small hole in the shipping box big enough to get his finger in but when he lightly shook the box, there wasn't any sounds of things rattling around in there. He did say he could feel cloth (the new case they're using, I presume) and bubble wrap. The wait is going to freaking KILL me!

For anyone waiting, I ordered him on Dec. 29th, he shipped on Jan. 20th and arrived at my house (in Canada) today (the 24th of Jan.). I think that that's the fastest I've ever received a brand new doll direct from a company and I ordered him with a face-up, too.

    4. the hip joints actually work ok, though it's sometimes hard to pose them seated on a hard surface just right.
I don't know about the hoooves, but this body type and limbs are MUCH slimmer than the Littlefee /Honey Delf or usual Yo sized dolls, so if those hoof additions would suit those dolls, they'll be too wide
      for the sugarbles.

Here's what the hip joint looks like in a sitting position from below. (this is what will be on the chair.)
I have no idea why they're done this way.

I love Ms. Oona, but her body has got it's quirks.

    5. congrats Iron_Dog! :D Can't wait to see your pics.

    6. Congratulations Iron_Dog! That's so exciting, can't wait to se him! :D

      As for the hooves, Pinkes Pony, I once tried fitting my Soom Sammi fantasy calves on my boy's legs but it didn't work at all. They're too big, and the knees aren't the same shape, if I remember correctly. I wish I'd taken a picture when I tried so I could show you, but I didn't even bother, the fit was so bad. Sorry ^^;

    7. Okay, here's a pretty quick shot of my new boy, Nassano. He's an albino Naga and his snake half is massassauga rattler.

I totally lucked out on both wig and eyes as I had them from other dolls and I quite like the way they look. I have another pair of eyes in metallic gold that I might test out, but I like the way he's rocking those red ones a lot more than I thought I would. So yea! for not having to buy more eyes/wigs. I may still make him a rabbit fur wig but I think he's pretty awesome looking right now.

I have a question for you other naga owners. His tail came strung (but not attached to his torso/head) and Sugarble included elastic to string his tail as well as instructions on how to do that. The elastic currently stringing his tail looks much thinner than the one they sent to string his tail. He is wickedly tight and I'm thinking that I'm supposed to re-string him with the thicker stuff? It's extremely difficult to pose his tail right now, but I also didn't have a lot of time to dicker with him as by the time I'd gotten him together, decided on his eyes and tested out wigs, supper was going to be a late affair and the natives were getting restless for grub. So do I re-string him or leave him as is?

    8. @ trinlayk and RainbowMarbles Thank you guys for answering ^-^
Ok, so another doll gets hooves ._.
On the Website sugarble is telling us, that the hip joints are made like this for a better and more natural pose. When the doll is wearing long trousers or skirts, it's hidden for sure...I'm afraid that if the doll is wearing panties or briefs under the skirt, the joint will "eat up" the panties when moving the legs back to a standing position xD
But this body is just too beautiful and if the delivery is as fast as it was for Iron_Dog it's one more reason to get one. And as I noticed they can wear Blythe-Clothes...thats cool *takes an envelope and put first money aside* :D

    9. I had Beyla hooves on a Sugarble body for awhile, but it required quite a bit of modding to the hoof part to get it to work. I'll try to dig up the photos a bit later.

I don't think the peapods would work because of their crazy knee peanut.

    10. Ahhhh, what a cutie Iron_Dog! :D When I restrung my naga tail after painting, I actually used even thinner elastic xD(I cant remember whether or not he even came with thick elastic, oops!) As he is now, he is strung as tightly as i could pull his elastic, and he poses like a charm, although after sitting on my desk for a few weeks, hes slowly falling over. Dont know if this helps you any, sorry for rambling!
Pinkes Pony: one of us, one of us ;) It took my boy 22 working days to get here, so Id say fast shipping is pretty consistent with this company! And I agree, they are beautiful dolls :)

    11. He is currently difficult to pose and I think it's because of the extreme tightness of the elastic used. I can barely get him to straighten out his tail and if I nudge it just a little, it snaps back into a curl/curved position.

Did you find it difficult to restring his tail? The instructions seemed pretty straight forward but I am chronically lazy so....

    12. I just received some new eyes. My Serena is modeling one pair:

    13. Nassano is so cute Iron_dog! I'm loving that albino look, are you planning on having him wear any clothes? I'm thinking when I get my boy that I might make him some sort of utility belt/loincloth thing but I haven't fully decided yet...

Your girl looks great in those eyes periwinklestars! What kind are they?

I'm getting so impatient to get the rest of my funds for my boy. ugh.

    14. Iron_dog: it's actually quite simple and straighforward! The string lengths are a bit confusing iirc, I'd advise you to make them longer than they recommend and cut them after. Or if he came with strings about the right length, that works too :P

      periwinklestars
: she looks beautiful, i love those eyes :)

    15. Sugarble sent the thicker elastic pre-cut in 2 lengths with an additional length for the torso part. That's what I find a little confusing. If they already strung his tail in such a fashion that all I needed to do was pull the torso string (which was already attached) up through his torso, pop the head on and he was good to go. The elastic used on his tail part looks to be about the same thickness that is used to string his arms and that's about 1/2 as thick as the string they sent with him.

My main issue at the moment is that he is strung incredibly tight. So much so that it's difficult to move his tail around. That's why I was wondering if re-stringing would be in order. I would have to cut the existing elastic to re-string as there is NO wiggle room with excess elastic and it's strung so tight, there's zero slack to even try and undo the knot.

Aside from that though, I really love the look of him. I may end up bringing him in to work tomorrow. I'm not sure if he'll wear clothes. I had intended not to have him wear any, but now that he's home, I'm thinking that he may need some clothes. I'll definitely need to make him some sort of messenger bag. And I managed to take a quick shot of Nassano with Dolf. Dolf is blank at the moment but I'm hopeful that I can send him out for a face up in March (finances allowing). Dolf, BTW, is a Wight which is why he's got zombie grey skin.

    16. Thanks! They are the new natural SafrinDoll eyes. They look amazing in person. I didn't quite capture them with the camera.

Thanks so much! I love these eyes, but I think the gray skin dolls look good in most colors. I love the gray skin.

I love your Naga boy. The wig is perfect on him. I would love to have some dolls with these tails. I would especially love a mermaid tail like these. I left a message on the Sugarble board asking them to consider adding a fish tail for mermaid dolls. They haven't answered yet, though.

    17. Hi, new to this discussion because I stupidly never thought to look for it. I have The Mirror on a human body and a Helena on the snake body, both have the glamor bust. Totally wish I would have found this thread before my dolls came home so I would have known things like their correct eye/wig sizes before having the wrong size eyes waiting for them.
After reading about your new arrival Iron_Dog, I'm completely jealous that you got instructions on restringing the tail and extra elastic! I didn't get instructions of any kind with my girls. Side note though, your boy looks super cute! The wig and eyes with that darker faceup look awesome.

    18. Thanks, ZombiEdward. They may have sent instructions because I bought him in "pieces". One of my hopeful projects for today is to actually re-string his tail as I'm not satisfied with the impossibly tight stringing he currently has. I'd also like to get some clothes cut out for a bunch of dolls and am still waffling over whether or not Nassano is going to wear a shirt of some type or just be au natural. I might see if I can find the white pliver I have and make him a messenger bag or maybe just a vest.

We also had a snow storm grace us with fresh powder yesterday and I'd like to take my snow-centric dolls out for a little photo op today. So much dolly stuff and so little time to do it all *sigh*.

    19. Snow pictures sound like an awesome idea! If my girls had good faceups, I'd be outside right now with them as the sun is actually out for once. We've had snow on the ground since the first of the year with small rounds of it melting a bit and then getting more. It rained yesterday for a while and then snowed on top of that so we still have a lot of it left.

    20. It was overcast the entire day where I live and I actually spent the whole day doing edits on a 100K+ novel I'm nearly finished writing. I console myself with the thought that due to the less than stellar lighting, my photos would've been blah. And we're supposed to get another snow storm this coming week so it's not like we are in immediate danger of running out of snow any time soon *laughs*.
