1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Surprisingly Positive Things People Have Said!

Oct 7, 2007

    1. Best moment this year. I had to do a little presentation on anime and art and so forth, for our Friends of the Libraries group. This is by and large a bunch of elderly people with hair even whiter than mine, lots of them retired professors, and I was TERRIFIED to be dragging my stuff in there.

I took Battousai along with me because I thought it would be so neat to illustrate the character in so many forms - the Japanese manga, the translation, the OVA cels, the settei copy, the TV version, a figure or two, and finally Big Resin Assassin Dood. ;) And dangit all, his 1/3 scale samurai swords are SHARP! ><

To my complete suprise, the Dean sent me an email saying how much he'd enjoyed all of it, people wanted to see whether Battousai really could move (not well, because he's not sueded yet, but we did some poses) and a little woman who had to be 85 came up to me and cooed all over him. Between the doll and a Shamanic Princess cel I thought she was going to wrestle me to the ground for my stuff! :)

    2. Recently, on the way back from a group meet, on a ferry, a woman approached us, and began to ask questions about our kids, she seemed so excited and she said that they all were just wonderful and that they really are just too gorgeous. Never had that happen before...

    3. My mum asked if she should address christmas cards to me, my boyfriend and Lily from now on, which I guess is quite positive :D

Someone else squeaked when they saw her on our shelf (in surprise, although with a little bit of fear) about how realistic her feet were. I took this as a compliment, too XDD

    4. I have had so many positive comments on Ailin lately. I took him down to Lazona in Kawasaki yesterday and all I could hear around me were people commenting on how cool he looked. Two people actually came up to me and started talking to me about him, and another person wanted to take his picture. He said that he'd never seen a doll like that before. I pointed him in the direction of the nearest Tenshi no Sumika XD.

Today, I went over to Odaiba and this family vacationing from China were watching me take pics of him near Zepp Tokyo, and they really liked him as well. They kept commenting on how cool he looked. I'm loving all of this positive attention my doll is getting, but I'm not sure how much Ailin likes it.

      Ailin: I hate it.

      See what I mean?

    5. I rarely take my dolls out and about with me. Several weeks ago I had to go to the doctor just for a check up and make sure I was healthy and all, and I had to get blood work done. So I took Rail, nanuri07 mod hybrid, with me. The doctor and nurse were really intrigued by him. They kept commenting that he was really cool and were curious about his background since I had mentioned that he was a character I made up. Thats one of the better doctor experiences Iv had, as well as a doll experience.

More recently. Im on vacation at the moment in PA. I went to a local Arts and Crafts Festival. I was sitting in the shade with my boy, Glyph KDF bory, and had him in my lap. There was a water fountain nearby and a lady was trying to fill her water bottle. I had watched for a few seconds, since the fountain was really weird.. it over shot the basin it was in, so it went all over. I managed not to laugh. When she had finished she had seen me sitting there and came over, intrigued by Glyph. She had asked me if I had made his clothes. I told her I wasnt that talented and she stared for a while, then said he was really cool and that she liked him alot before heading off.

Iv visited alot of family also. And several know I take pictures and had asked to see them. They thought the pictures of Glyph were really cool, an were surprisingly excepting of my hobby.

    6. I brought my favorite boy, all done up for Dollectable this weekend, into work with me to show my crew what I'd been going on about. One of the day shift girls looked at him and responded, "If there were a man that looked like that in real life I'd be in trouble." She then proceded to talk about how pretty his hair was. It was a warm fuzzy moment.

    7. My sisters were really excited to get my boy out of the box and once he was they all wanted to hold him. My eldest sister Kate was really fascinated by him and wanted to play with him, make him up a backstory, help me get him all dressed up... my mom just wanted me to put some pants on him that weren't leather, and she helped me restring him when his foot piece broke. But it was seeing my other sister all concerned about him being broken 'for good' that really made me feel better.
'Is it OK if I hold him here? I'm not touching the peen, am I?' And she talked to him the whole time I was restringing him. (My entire house is calling it 'the peen' now. I was only kidding, guys? Gosh...)

    8. When I ordered my doll (my first one, who should be shipped any day now :D ) I told my brother all about it, which I often do with things I'm really excited about. But I was kinda disappointed that he wasn't interested at all, and really didn't care. But then a little while ago, I was at my mum's office looking at pics of Homme Ducan (the next doll I'm going to get) on the Dream of Doll website, and my brother unexpectedly walked past. When he saw Ducan he said, "WOW, he's really awesome!" I was so surprised. I showed him other stuff on the website, and he said it was all really cool, and it seems he hadn't actually looked the first time I tried to show him :sweat. Now I'm so happy knowing he likes them :)

    9. This morning I took Musket to work. A lady was headed to the elevator before me, and I almost took the stairs instead because I wasn't sure I wanted to be trapped in an enclosed space with someone who might think he's strange.

She made a call on her phone, then looked at me and smiled and said, "Did you make him?" I said no, and explained how he is an Asian ball-jointed doll and they have all different kinds of face sculpts and bodies, and you can customize their hair, eyes, and face, etc.

She looked genuinely interested, and as she left, she said, "That's really neat!" :aheartbea

    10. After a day and a half of nothing but "She's creepy" and "Make sure she isn't looking at me during the test" I was pleasantly surprised by a swarm of random pupils (those I knew and many I didn't) asking questions and wanting to play with her and whatnot. I even got a few "I really like her bald, it's adorable" and "She's so pretty!". I ended up having a totally kickbutt day that day :3

    11. Thank-you for starting this thread, currently there are a couple of threads which talk about negative reactions and/or experiences people have had involving their dolls. So it's great to see that not everyone has had negative experiences. When my mum and i have taken our dolls out in public, whilst we've had negative reactions, we've also had positive reaction as we've met people who have been both curious and interested about our dolls.

    12. my aunt and uncle came for a visit so I hid the boy away, thinking that they'd be all wtf and conservative. Then when they got here, my mom, who loves to point out that I have a doll (also to explain why the kitchen was a mess because I had been sewing dolly clothes lol) was like HEY GENA GO GET YOUR DOLL AND SHOW AUNT IRETA. So I reluctantly did...took me a while cause I had to put his pants on him haha, and they (pretty much my aunt...uncle doesnt really care about much) were all like omg cool. It made me feel good and less shy about having my boy. Especially around the family.

    13. Everyone sofar has loved my dolls. My grandad makes fun of them a bit but it's all jokingly because when visitors come over he always asks me to show off my dolls and is quite possible singing more glory about them than I am. My dad grudgingly approves of them, his wife has been super interested and asking for links to sites and has a small crush on Iplehouse's Dark Aaron now. Other family members have been in awe at them. Everyone I've handed them to has treated them with utter care and has noticed their value even without me telling them. So sofar it's all been positive.

    14. You are very welcome!! That's why I started it--because it's good to remember the positive experiences, too! :aheartbea

Responding to Kitty, then bumping a bit to get more positivity! :D :)

    15. I got TONS of compliments when I went to a recent con. Hansel was sort of a Lolita cosplay prop but people were just enamored by him. I sat him down and these two girls just couldn't stop gawking at him. They were obsessed. xD
I swear I earned DZ a few more doll sales for Floy that day.

    16. Today the weirdest thing happened to me- but also the best doll experience I've had so far. We had some guys over to fix our dryer so we can finally do laundry- three guys, all big tough guys in the Jayne Cobb vein- and they were in the room adjoining my bedroom, so I was kind of sneaking around to avoid them. I had to fix up Vitya's shirt, though, and so I snuck into do a bit of last minute sewing when the biggest (and by far most Jayne Cobb-like of the guys, definitely looking like a stereotypical mechanic type) saw him and went, in tones of cheerful itnerest, 'Wow! Did you make all the clothes for him yourself?' He proceeded to ask more questions, complimenting my sewing and the way he looked dressed up like he was... it was cool. What a nice guy. That probably made my day. It helped that he knew he was a guy from right off, too. And he didn't just go 'THAT THING' like everyone else does.

And at the fabric store, we met a woman who makes dolls working there and we talked for a while <3 It's not like I didn't expect it but doll people are everywhere, just waiting to be found.

    17. My boy hasn't arrived yet, but my sister's finally stopped calling him "Doll" and calls him "Kae" or something along those lines now ^.^

And after I told my parents I wanted him (They were kind of annoyed -.-) i dragged my mom out to a place that displayed them and she said they were actually quite pretty, and then said she'd lend me money to buy clothes for him which made me smile =)

    18. The same day I got Toby, I had to go with my grandma to my aunt. So I took him along, not wanting him to think he was abandoned on his first day.

The first day when I showed them him, they werent keen about it. So a few days later to cheer myself up, missing my other dolls, I took lots of pics of Toby around the farm. And when I was finished, I sat down in the kitchen and browsed through the pictures. Then my aunt saw the pics and showed my grandma as well, both agreeing he looked like a real boy on the pics, and now understood my fascination with these dolls. And began asking about them and compliment him.

      That felt good. :)

    19. The other day we met at one of the girl's house with all our dolls and her mom said, while she was looking at us sewing and painting, "this a very beautiful and great hobby, congratulations" :)

    20. This actually was not with my own doll because I hadn't yet received my boy, but I was walking around a Shaw's with a friend who had one...obviously it was her doll and I could tell that this man was staring but I was having a hard time reading him. He almost looked like he wanted to jump me so I kept watching him. Well finally he got close enough and he asks me if the doll actually moved so I kicked his leg up and down and he just stood there for a little while before he gave me two thumbs up and an awkward smile followed by a, "That's so cool."
