1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Surprisingly Positive Things People Have Said!

Oct 7, 2007

    1. I'm honestly surprised by how many positive reactions I have gotten. I was explaining BJD's to my hairdresser (as you do, in the nicest and non-weirdest way) and now she is even asking after Adell x3 And my grandparents went looking everywhere to find some tiny clothes and accessories for her (as a gift for my birthday), and a good friend of my mum's is constantly on the lookout for teeny shoes and props too. I'm almost overwhelmed by how much support people have given me with this hobby :)

    2. I know my friend didn't really "get" my dolls, but thought some of them were pretty. So, one weekend, she went home with me and I decided to take her to a doll meetup. I was so nervous that she'd just be like "o_O" the whole time. But she was really into it. She said she finally understood why I always spoke about my doll family as if they were "real people". ^__^

    3. I actually got a pretty suprising one the other day.

A girl I know at school is the editor-in-chief of the yearbook and she was in my French class last year when I brought my DOC Too for a project. A few days ago, she approached me and asked if she could do a section in the yearbook about my dolls and I! I was pretty darn excited. She said she didn't want to feature the same old popular kids for things like sports and wanted to try something more unique. ^^ She showed me the finished mock-up two days ago and it looks so cool!

    4. That's AWESOME. Finally someone wants to do something that isn't about 'popular kids' and sports.
      Congrats that awesome. :)

    5. A friend who disliked my dolls originally now wants a crew of her own. :) She even cursed at me last night for making her like SDs, lol.

    6. My teachers find Kotori interesting.
My animation teacher: Is it an Adult doll?
Me: O.o Uhm, well, its an Adult hobby, because the dolls are expense, they're works of Art really. :sweat

What really made me laugh was the people who said she was weird. We go to art school for Pete's sake, They find her weird? Massive Fail.

But yea, alot of my friends like my dolls, so its all good? 8D

    7. KitchenNinja and I went to the mall in a city near us, where my mom used to work, and were shopping around. We stopped in the hottopic, because they ahd a clearance rack stuffed full of stuff that was surprisingly dollie sized. They were great. The cashier behind the counter was asking us all about them, and he wanted to see them stand, and their joints. He was really excited and kept saying they were really cool.

Now if only everyone in my house was no longer terrified by Mischief, that'd be great.

    8. before i had my doll, my friend showed her to my sculpture teacher. My teacher was more interested then anything.

    9. I went into Wal-mart a week ago (long story but I had to buy my Nicco some pretty things to make up for embarrassing pics earlier in the day) so I stopped to chat with my husband, who works there. The door greeter wandered over to us as I put Nicco and his stuffed bear into the kid seat of the cart.

"WOW!" says this wrinkled crusty older gentleman, "that's a COOL doll!" I said thanky you and went to help my hubby pick his jaw up off the floor since apparently this old gent was an ex marine, ex tough guy!

    10. Last weekend I attended a convention with Yushimi and her sister. Yushimi brought her boy Charm to the con, and afterwards we stopped by a department store. We were drawing attention anyways, with the three of us being in cosplay, but we decided it would be really fun to take pictures of Charm around the store! Two ladies were brave enough to approach us (as Near, Freya, and a Lolita none the less lol), and asked about Charm. They were both really really sweet, and kept on saying how cool "it" was! One of them was even a doll collector herself, and had heard of BJDs but had never seen one in person! Overall I was really happy to have met them because it made me so happy to own BJDs!

    11. I had a few friends at school who thought the dolls were creepy and dumb... but after I got my Topaz and brought her to show them they think she is lovely and not creepy at all (although her pupilless eyes have creeped them out) but yeah I guess thats a positive thing since seeing her irl reversed there minds!

    12. The very first time I took my first doll out, I'm walking to the car with him in my hands and our postman is standing by the driveway, he looks up, smiles and then spots Connor. Having read all the bad experiences people have had I was really nervous but he just grinned wider, waited until I was close enough and patted Connor on the head and said he was adorable.
      Best first reaction ever <3

Another time I took him into town when (unbeknownst to me) there was a football game on in the stadium, by pure coincidence, I'd found one of those team uniforms you put up car windows that was the perfect size for him a week ago, so he was sporting his PSV tshirt. The fans thought he was amazing, and I had a lot of slightly drunk dutch guys asking for photos with my doll XD We couldn't walk 5 paces without someone stopping me to coo over him. :D

    13. At our latest Meet in Lavender Bay, we were in Wendy's Garden (a public park-like area) taking pictures when we could see this woman motioning for a friend of hers to come over. I thought she might think our dolls were strange or creepy (she was in her 40's or 50's I think) but it was the complete opposite! :fangirl:

She thought they were gorgeous, and asked us loads of questions about them. She was particularly smitten with LKJ's Beryl who she thought was simply amazing with her hooves.

I think we were all smiling a bit after that encounter.

After the meet I took my girl around with me in the city (I... couldn't be bothered putting her back in her bag OTZ...) and one of the staffers at Kinokuniya complimented her (Even if she did call it a Barbie, but who's to be the wiser :?...)

    14. I went to a baby shower yesterday, and apparently my mom told everyone at work about Aine! (the shower was for a co-worker) One of the guests asked about her, was very kind, listened and eventually other people started asking, too! Makes me wish I had brought her. :S

    15. haven't shown my Miu around so much yet, the furthest she went was to my friends place (20 mins by bike). Also, my mom brags about her to her friends and collegues so I've had to show Miu to a lot of people who were just coming over for coffee...but yeah, they were all like "wow, she's cute!" and asking a lot about her ^^

I mostly find that people are kinda negative about them, untill they have seen the real deal (in real life, so not from a picture or so), it was the same with my dad, he was very opposed to the idea of a 18-year-old (now 19 ;p) buying 'some stupid doll', but he came round a bit (he's still a bit like, well.....I suppose you could call them pretty XD) when I showed her to him ^^

    16. A friend of mine and I once took Coppelia out to the RBG (beautiful gardens) to just wander around, we were all done up in Sweet Lolita, and Coppelia had abducted a dress from a porcelain doll, so we all looked awesome ;P And in a little tea shop a grown man stopped to admire her, and chat about dolls with us, it was really lovely to see someone say something besides "creepy" When I take her out.

    17. that is pretty cool, i wish my school was like that XD

    18. ignorance is what makes people think the dolls are "creepy".....once they see the and find out more about them ......then it causes the "ohhhhhhh" effect.

    19. This happened a while ago, but I thought I'd share ^^

I hadn't been feeling tip-top lately, emotional wise because of stupid people >.>; But I was talking with my friend Ana in art class...I brought up how I was sewing some clothes for my doll, and how he didn't like the shoes I got him, but I couldn't afford other ones right now.

Ana: "I love how you talk about Kori like he's a real person, like...'oh he's mad at me because'-" /quote

It was so sweet, especially since she remembered his name, and started listing off things I've talked about with her... x3

    20. The most surprisingly positive thing that some said about my doll was that she was 'cute'.
Usually when i bring my sisters dolls to work people say they are 'creepy'
Then when i got mine and showed them i got positive freedback^^
